I used some of Archie's hinges the other day for the first time, and they are excellent. Much better than some other mylar ones that I have used.
They seem to give a lot free-er movement than standard cyano hinges too.

Hi folks....I DIDN't test my plane on Sunday[
]
Woke up to find snow on the ground, which melted, but then it started coming down again.By the time this stopped I was on the way to see my old gi**, er parents!
Hey that carbon prop sounds cool Eddy. I'm a sucker for sexy bits on the plane. The Doctor sounds like he knows what he's doing, but you gotta be careful with props though.Imagine one coming to bits at over 11000 RPM![:@]
Oh yeah, the IH hinges do seem excellent.Gave them a mighty tug and seen no movement.I think its cos they use thin cyano after assembly that doesn't interfere with free movement.I'm sure we have all used the old ones that were assembled with glue on them, and then had to scrape around the hinge to clear out glue residue!

Sadly the IH set is missing the FedEx logos along with my website adress and the other *** bits, Weston logo, my tag line, the little devil, etc
i could do with some IS logos for the elevator counter balances and rudder but will have to see whats in my mailing tube if it ever turns up ( posted Friday apparently ). i never expected this, i had the vynil handed over and sorted before i had the wings back together.
With the orginial wing still with it's FedEx livery and only 5 days on the old plane i don't want to change the trim. becides, i wanted this look long before the Capiche was around and thats not changed. I just think somewhere something is taking the micky out of me.
Also on the waiting list is the kits for Sandown... will i be there at all????? time will tell....

IT FLIES
Had a couple of flights today! First one was with the motor very rich and it went dead stick eventually, not a problem though cos I was flying on the Hastings model show site( about 10 football pitches side by side). A couple of clicks of left aileron was all it needed. Second flight I leaned it out about half a turn! ( still rich)and throttling was much better.Started chucking it about a bit more and it was great, nice axial slow rolls and aero type stuff finished off with a perfect landing with the engine still running! Not switched to 3D rates yet and didn't get another flight coz then a late arrival told me my car window had been punched out by some w***** to nick the stereo [
] damaged the paint on both doors and rear pillar!
The plane flew really nice though. Didn't notice any pitch problems on the landings(dead stick or power) just floated in real nice without any tendancy to porpoise or stall out.The power of the YS was awesome and gave sustained vertical climbs as fast as level flight!
The IH iso mount did a great job. Not too much flexibility causing shake rattle & roll but enough so that I noticed NO airframe resonance at all.Overall the plane was MUCH quieter than the other planes at the field.
I can see the 14x5n option working well because on the 1st flight I new the engine was very rich and so just cruised about on a low steady throttle setting, but was still wary of flutter because it wasn't hanging around.
My spats didn't rotate or split either, but then its only a couple of flights eh. I am hopeful that they will last because I managed to attach the axle shaft through the wheel to the outer side of the spats also.
Now to get the car fixed!!!!

wow, how far do you have to walk to unload stuff from the car that you didn't see that happen.
i had the same thing after gliding on a distant hill for 3 hours one day, if i'd seen it my glider would have become a "T**T knocking out missile". i bet a Capiche would work even better

passed my driving test today, i havent stopped driving all day, however i did nip up to the field for a couple of flights with the capiche, got the trim problem sorted by moving the ailerons up slightly.
knife edge is very clean and the 12.25 x 3.75 prop is ideal for the irvine .53.
all in all, a bloody good day!

ooo, the fuz took me a few hours, maby 3-4. Wing has taken longer. Tail surfaces, 1 hour each to make a good job. Aileons, well one took me 3 hours! this is my first ever kit so im bound to be slow.
Ive got fiberboard as my building board. Cost me a fair bit (23 quid) for a 65" and a 30" bit at about 30" width. Its got a bend in the center of mine so i use everything to weight it don to get it out, its not the best stuff as its hard to stick pins in but it does the trick.
