Liberator, Actually she's pretty easy going and she knows my sense of humor. Little does she know, it's not humor. It's survival in this airplane addiction....... I mean........ hobby. I almost blew my cover.
Raideron, What happened to your UDC? It looks like the vultures have had a time with it........[X(] Put that thing back together.... You're going to scare the children...[X(]

Hey CeeGee... Oh tried to make it fly more than the tank was willing
to let me:-( Was able to save it the best I could, Just getting it to
recover enough to pancake onto it's belly ripping the gear/block out..
When on a final approch because of knowing the the fuel is low, Do
Not let the peanut gallery talk you into making another low inverted
flyby:-(...
Since the wing dowel hole bulkhead<?> was cracked I removed it
so I could have better access to change the tank to a 10oz and replace
the blind nuts for the new mount for the Mag 91...

Ahh... I know what you mean. You gotta go 'round one more time.... then run out of fuel. [X(] I usually land mine, fuel up real quick, and head back up into the air while I still feel like I'm Matt Chapman or someone. My thumbs don't always have the same sense of uphoria and I end up landing before I do something goofy looking or someone finds out that the manuvers I'm doing weren't planned and I have to say something like "well I was just trying to drag my wing tip on the runway to wipe off some of the eccess oil."

Barry.... I have to think on that also
.... Your timers rate very low...
from what I read.... They tend to send the planes where they should
not go..... And I do not need help in that area

Guys, well I did it. I wrote a review on the Yak vs the Showtime. I threw in the Mayhem just for kicks. I started another thread for it because I felt it would have so much critisism that I didn't want to cloud one of the existing "clean" threads. I really don't want to start problems but I think someone needs to take the lead in a critical review. Anyways, I'm exhausted just thinking about it. Glad there's peace over here. Thanks

Hi gjefers
You were right. I leaned out the bottom end of my saito 100 and it ran great. I flew 3 flights withthe cowl off and it ran great, no dead sticks. I installed the cowl and flew one more time, again while idling for an extended period it flamed out. Could this be a heat problem. I have a very large section of the front of the cowl cut out and the bottom cut out.

I havent been following the forumn for a while, so i figured I drop in with my latest tale. Last night i saw that with a coupon i had for Tower hobbies I could get a Magnum 91 for $145, so I bought it of course. Since today was Saturday I got to get out and fly my plane, for what i figure would be the last time with the 46 AX. I was out at the outer edge of my field when all of a sudden I have no elevetor control and my plane starts to fall, fall fall. I am trying any thing I can to get it to fall slower and get it on its belly for a glide. Watching, falling, watching, falling, Tree. I was at the outer edge of the field so from where i was it didnt look too high. After a short drive and a long walk i got over to the tree and looked up 50-60 feet to see my plane. Looked to be in pretty good shape. Tried moving my surfaces to see if I could get it to break loose. I noticed one side of my elevetor was just flopping around. Looks like some how it got disconected.
Unfortunately i wont be able to tell what happened till I get it out of the tree. Stupid Poplar tree had no branches under 15-20 feet high. A guy I fly with has a brother in law who likes to climb trees, so hopefully it doesnt raing tonight and I can get my plane out of the tree tomorrow. It looked to be in one peice, so hopefully it doesnt fall out of the tree before we can get it out gently. I need it to be in good shape for the Magnum 91.

Call somebody and get that tree outofthere. Man, that's a bummer. I hope she's not too badly hurt. That Magnum will make this baby sing. Let us know what happens.Want to buy a timer?
On a side note...Thank you guys for the support on my review forum. I knew when I started that, that there would be a lot of flame. But thanks for your support. My UCD46 sould be here in a day or two. I'm gonna build it with the 100 and enjoy it the rest of the summer. I'm done with reviews etc. I'm just gonna fly my planes and enjoy.
Thanks,
Barry

Sctcrash, Sorry to hear about your plane. I sure hope you can get it outta there. I've heard of guys using a bow and arrow to throw a line over the branches.
Gjeffers, Are those little bushes in the picture? [:-] I didn't know there were bushes on Mars..... [X(] Where is the Mars lander?

hey guy,
i finished my new UCD .60. What a sweet looking bird, so when i did a range check (10 times![:@]) on my futaba rec.(fm FP-R127Df) i got 20ft[:'(] so i pulled
the ant. out and moved it i had 100ft
. So when my test pilot fly it he was 100ft and lost control and did a slow roll right in to the ground[X(][:'(][:@][
] in that order and i didn't fly it[&o] so when i get my new one my old one will be a beater.
my father also has a .60 UCD with a futaba pcm 1024 rec and had the same problem but he was smart enough to know better. but me range checked out om the ground
did anyone else suffer from this?
what radio gear do you use?
Thanks

38.. I've had no radio problems on my UCD 46 using Airtronics tranny
and Hitec gear on 6v.. I have my ant. on the very bottom of the fuse
exiting near the tail wheel, I drilled holes in the bottom of the bulkhead
and installed a plastic tube for my ant. wire. My servo wires are at the
top half of the fuse running in the same bulkhead but top cutouts..
Again not problems to date...

38...That's weird. I use Futaba and Hitec stuff and never had a problem. Knock on wood. Well, never a problem except for the 4 flat spin landings of course. Maybe they were because of radio glitch. Yeah, now that I think about it...they were radio glitch. Thanks

I run my radio antana wire stright out the bottom (just punch a small hole) and on the bottom of the fuse on the outside. Then I keep it tight with a rubber band around the tail wheel and to a broken servo arm part on the wire. Seems to work good. I can control it further than I can see it.Thanks

Hey Barry, read your reviews. I havent gotten through the whole thread yet, but i liked what i saw. Like one reader said, better than Model Airplane News. I have also dropped my subscription to them because I think their articles are Fluffy sales pitches. They love everything and dont ever seem to tell you what is bad a bout a plane. Thats why i stick to the forumns now. I get Pics, vids and the real dirt on a plane. Thats why I went with the U Can Do. When i read through the different models I was considering the good definetely outweighed the bad from all that I read.
Man i hope my plane is still ok up in that tree, hopefull i will be getting it down this evening. Its hard to believe I am sitting at home while my plane is 60 feet in a tree at the field.

Hey Guys,
SPUD here-Got 3 flights in today. No wind=great hovering, even got a torque roll in. Still working on that elusive KE. Close but just not there yet. Some snaps & some harrier practice. This plane is just plain fun.
Barry nice job on the review.......
Well SPUDs out...........see ya.

Hey Crash have you talked to your local Firefighters. Sometimes on my truck we do favors for folks, kinda make a drill out of it. It's worth a try, most FF's are good that way.
Maybe it helps............SPUDs out

yea, thats the ticket CEEGEE!!!! i was a young grandpa
got in a few flights today too, but had a persestant problem with this glitch that always happened in the same exact same spot (at random passes) but about 60-100ft to my right as i passed it would glitch throt, rud, and ail for just a split second, still aint figured it out but am working on it, cant replicate it at all anywhere, have taken knott out of ant, have moved y reverser in fuse, and put on new ant on tx, will see tomorrow and if that dont work ill change back to my 4.8 volt rx batt and move some more wiring.just appeared out of nowhere

gjeffers...Do you use 6 volt? I can't remember. I know some people complain a little about 6 volt systems having a bit of the jitters. I have always used 4.8 volt for that reason. I'm not sure why that's the case but it seems to happen that way. That's why 4.8 is still used. Anyways, sounds like you are gonna try that. I'd be interested to hear if that helps. And that is a cute granddaughter. My grandchildren are a little younger than that. Oldest is 6 and the youngest is 6 months.
Thanks
Barry
