Hey Gary.. Another safe trip... Like those!!... Have fun flying.....
I know, I know on the vib.... But this is LOUD.... But it is what it is
She
flies like a "Do"... So I'll just keep doing it
I backed off on the "low"
stuff.. Keeping it 5' and up since downing my last two profiles... But last
time out, I was going for the tail touch, was below a foot when a gust
pushed her somewhat, I checkened and powered out... I think I'd better
stop, or trouble is on the horizon.... Think I'm getting too use to just
pushing the button on the sim to restart....
Ohhhh... Like the hat buddy..... Ohh and the sprite
... Ohhhh yeah and
the cleaner Saito emblem.... MMmmmmm

Hey guys, Well it wasn't such a great day flying today. I got my Funtana up in the air and not too long after I lost control of it and ended up smashing it into the ground. I give up on trying to fly a Funtana. I'm not quite sure what happened. It was descending and it started into a spin. Not a wing over wing spin but like an upright spin, and it would respond to me trying to stop the spin or do anything else with it. It was really weird. It did the same thing the last time I took it out. Then I was doing an inverted flat spin and it didn't seem to want to pull out of it. I managed then to turn it upright and flatten it out and it did very little damage but this time it broke the fuse in half and the wing in half. I give up on the Funtana's. Now I have a Saito 91 that needs a home. Any suggestions?
Oh...... here's a rare pic of me at the field with the Do.... Nice huh? That's the old Do not the new one. Still haven't gotten to the pics of the new one. [X(]

Hey guys quick question, I have the UCANDO 46 and i put on a 70 surpassII on it and I don't know if its me or not but the video review on tower hobbies, that guy has no problem holding a hover, and i built it exactly like his, every detail and CG. But mine falls out of a hover after only 4 to 5 sec at full throttle. slow and Straight down fall out. running 14X4 prop just like his with right at 9000 RPM. what gives, any ideas or help would be very much appreciated.[

Bummer Rob, well at least now you can concentrate your time on your new Do, it will treat you better than any old funtana
allyric, if your os is spinning a 14x4 at 9000 Rs then it should hover it nicely, how much does your Do weigh in at?
nice job Kostas, i really like the job on the canopy, real nice,(i would get that rx antanna away from that metal pushrod
)
took out my monster today and had a great day today, will take out my Doos sat and sunday and have more fun

Yeah Gary, more time with the Do. [8D] I never did get real comfortable with the funtana anyway. Now I just need to find something to put the Saito 91 in. I've been thinking about a Fliton.

Why you want to remove it.
It's not a problem while there is no metal-metal contact!

I started out with an OS70 on my do. It would hold a hover at a little over 3/4 throttle. I think I was using a APC 13x4w. You might want to try that, also make sure you have enough cooling out the bottom. It could be overheating.

CG Question on a new Do.
Okay, let me see if I can explain this correctly. I just finished my DO. I am using a Great Plane GC machine. When I tried to balance it is was really tail heavy. I moved the battery over the fuel tank and it took a little weight up front to bring it close.
Now the strange part: I could make it balance nicely on the bubble if I put it there it would stay. However if I tip it more than just a touch forward or aft it tilts all the way in that direction, and will not balance itself out. On past planes I have balanced when it was done right you could push on the tail or the nose and it would go back to level. Also had a hard time figuring out exactly how to put the plane of the balancer without pokeing a hole in the wing. I decided to place a peice of cardbord under each wing to distrubite the load a little, I would like to know how others have balanced this plane?

jt, i balance mine mt of fuel(you probably already know
) but you should also balance it inverted on the machine, i have never poked a hole in my wing(but i have worried about it) also after you place it on the balancer you should just posisition it level, if its not balanced it will tilt, if it is it will stay
are you using a size 46 engine? my saito 100 at 21oz balances pretty nice, the lighter you go from there the harder it gets to balance, i know my sons plane that we put a evo 46 at 13 oz was real hard to balance, and every plane will be a little different.
hope this helps

Thank Gjeffers.
I have a .46 AX up front. I am using a Du-Bro aluminum spinner nut. With the battery above the fuel tank I need 1.5 oz. in the cowl air exit area.
Thank again,

Another thing with balance...I think the book says 4". You want to be a lot further back than that. Mines at 5 5/8" Most are there or maybe closer to 6". don't worry, even for the first flights 5 1/2" or so is fine. If you are trying to get to 4" you'll need to add weight. It's not necesary. Thanks

Hey guys, Finally got some time to post some pics...... I used a spent rocket motor tube to enclose the wing bolts in the belly pan. On my other Do they kept coming out of the holes and rattling around in the belly pan. This seems to help with that and keeps the screw driver on the head of the screw. Also I used pinned hinges instead of the CA ones. On my previous Do 4 of the CA hinges broke at one time or another. I also made up some carbon fiber linkages for the control surfaces... I totally dorfed up the canopy. [>:] It looked great at first but I put some CA on the screws on the inside of the fuse to keep them from coming out and the CA seeped out and into the canopy causing it to look butt ugly. [>:] Arrrggghhhh. That's why the painted one. I ordered a new one from Tower and I did notice that the one from my dearly departed Funtana looks like it would fit with a little cutting. It's smoked too. [8D] Lastly I tried to remove the yellow swoosh marks starting with the stab. I don't recommend this. [>:] It's not for the faint of heart. That stuff is on there good. It was really difficult to get it off but once I started I was committed.
I got a chance to get some flights with it yesterday.
It seems to fly different than my previous one. The big difference I've noticed is with knife edges. I may have to do some mixing with this one. The last Do did them okay. Not like a profile by any means but okay. This one is much more sensitive and if I don't have the sticks just right, it's all over the place. [X(]
I'll have to work on the set up. All in all I'm glad I got the new one.

Also...... Here's a wing bag that I made for my Mayhem wing. I'm still working on the one for the Do. I took some foil backed bubble wrap type stuff from the hardware store and glued the edges together with contact cement, let the glue set up and sandwiched it together. I made one end longer for the flap and added some velcrow pieces to keep it closed. I planned to sew on some fabric material on the edge to give it a nice finished edge but the stuff I bought is too narrow. I think once I get the right stuff on there it will look store bought. It works great though and the roll of bubble wrap insulation is 25 feet long so I have enough to do probably 2 Do wing bags after the Mayhem bag.......... [8D]

Rclement....Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. Nothing like a brand new UCD. I like your ideas on the rocket tubes. I've had that problem too and didn't really know what to do about it. Now I'll have to start flying rockets to fix my UCDs. Also the wing bag is a good idea. Sometimes I get hanger rash so bad that I feel like I've crashed before I get to the field.
Good Job!
Thanks
