yes. . . . I won't ask. . . . ( since I've done it myself)
I did once see a guy have excessive foaming in his line, and found it to be that his tank was packed so frickin' tight (with foam) that it might have well just been epoxied to the fuse. . .
I tend to keep my tanks a little on the loose side, and I use the "eggcrate" type foam so there's room for the tank to"float", thanks to all the small pressure points the foam places. . .

nitrobeast, do you get these bubbles even with a full tank?

Hi Guys – Just wanted to say Hi. Been flying the the cr@p out of both T___T’s this season. I’ve busted the tail off of the 60 and had to rebuild it once. The 40 I’ve swapped out the OS-46 for a OS-55, and it is just now really starting to purr. Can REALLY tell the difference.
Ok, so here is my question – How many of the rest of you have scrubbed off the wing tips of your planes just from trying to turn to soon after landing or getting caught with the occasional cross wind. The T___T3D is of course the oldest, and mine has been down to bare wood. So this afternoon I took a little black MonoKote and striped the end of the wing back an 1†and then on both wings I took some week cutter line and installed on the bottom as you can see in the pics. Not sure I got it exactly right, but I think it should save the wing tip and it shouldn’t create any drag while in the air. I just drilled some holes JUST big enough for a really snug fit and jammed the ends both in about ¾†and then just put some CA around them.
I’ll let you know how it works
Later, and keep’em T____Ting

Love the pilot Bend R Grumpy from the seven drwarfs. I'm still wondering how i can get my Cockpit wind screen off without damaging it apperently the manufacture of my plane put alot of glue to hold it on. tried to strat to remove it and it started to crack so i stopped. guess my pilot is going to have to wait till i can figure out a way to get the wind screen off. i guess i could find a new wind screen and then just rip that one off. really hate to do that just for a pilot. Thats the problem with buying the PNP One i guess the ARF ones dont have the wind screen already mounted when you get the plane.
Anyone have an idea on removing the cockpit windscreen.

You might think about leaving the cockpit on and coming up through the bottom. Just carefully cut out a regtangle in the general area your going to mount your pilot. Maybe reinforce the piece you take out by adding a couple of light rails to the side so when you reinstall the piece removed it has something to mount against. Mount the pilot and reinstall the piece you've taken out either with some small screws or just run a bead of CA around the whole thing to seal it back up and it'll be as strong as before you started.
Just a thought..........

Link ,,,,, Ditto on what Gputt33 says,,,,,,,,,,, come in through the bottom..
Gputt33 Nice pics and I can't say I have ever scrubbed off the wing tip on the landing, but I'm on a grass field these days,, Nice mod added on there though, It appears you like to do that on all your wings, I remember back in the days when I flew off a highway road and I suffered many monocote tears or just roughing it up around the wingtips, that would have been a great idea,, now when I tip a wing, it just rips the whole wing right off..
problem solved.

Link- try an X-ACTO knife and use the blade backwards (sharp side away from direction of travel) and SLOWLY try to work the knife around the canopy. . .care and patience are manditory to keep from ripping the coating. . . the canopy should survive without any damage. . .

the covering will mostlikely melt. . . there's just such a fine line between getting hot enough for the glue to loosen and the covering to do the same. I remember once tracing around the outsice of the canopy with a REALLY SHARP new X-acto blad and then carefully removing both the coverting as well as the covering. . . the glue on the monocoat is much weaker than the bond the other glue has between the canopy and the skin. I'd planned on re-covering that area anyway. . . just a few thoughts. . .

Use your heat gun to lightly heat the area and it should peel off quite easily with the use of the X-acto knife. Don't get to crazy as its easier to warp the canopy than it is too melt the covering. Did you also know that if you apply heat to epoxy it will soften it up enough to get it apart without breaking anything. I have an H9 Corsair that I put the wing joiner in upside down, that crazy wing design can be deceiving. It sat for about 3-4 days before I was able to get to it again and thats when I realized it was wrong, thought I was going to have to scrap the whole wing. Slowly heated the area with the heat gun and after about 15-20 min. I was able to pull it out.
I have been flying my T____T .40 alot lately. Think I am going to move the CG slightly to give it a little more 3D ability. Fly it mostly off a soccer field thats about 3 blocks from my house. Wish I had a video camera though, love bringing it in at about a 70* angle for landing and touching the tail first then setting it down on the mains. What a blast, never thought I was going to fly this much. Now it gets more airtime than my other planes do combined. I know I asked this before, what is a good CG for beginner 3D,LOL that sounds funny. Mine is set up for sport, flat and level flight. Want to get it slightly tail down without going to much.
Thanks Shane

thanks everyone for the input on the Canopy. i will try the heat method of using a heat gun and the back side of the exacto knife and see if this will do it i have part of it loose. I really didnt want to cut a hole in the fuselage and go up through the bottom and just figured if i couldn't get it loose i wouldn't put the pilot in. and use her for my Lancair instead. i will give the heat method a try sounds like it will work.
But i do think a pilot would be cool in the plane.
thanks everyone.

Well the heat gun method worked wonderfully. Come to find out the canopy was not that well glued on after all and would have probably ended coming off after enough of the oil from the fuel got under it. But within a couple of minutes it came loose with no problems. Of course i glued it on alot better then it was and if it has to be removed again it won't be that easy.
Barbie didnt get the job as a pilot all she did was complain about how cramped it would be in the plane. So Snoopy stepped up to the plate, said i can fly the plane much better then that blonde anyway. You would be taking a real chance putting the controls in the hands of that inexperienced pilot, lol. Of course Snoopy is a bit of a hot head and a little wreckless but seems to have a good flight record, been shot down a couple times but always seems to land without any major damages so he's got the job.
Have to at least make it intresting[sm=lol.gif]
So here he is trying it on for size.

The lancair is my winter project. Still need to get some stuff for that plane to fly, fuel line a spinner ect. Gonna be scared for sure when i go fly it, cause barbie is going to be piloting that one lol. And i have heard so many horriable stories about it. On the thread for the CMPro lancair. But I Still Love my TVV!$T the most. Snoopy Just looks like he belongs in this Plane it was his destiny. Cant wait to do a low pass with him at the controls lol.

Hi fellas!
Link, Love the pilot! Well, not literally
.
Tim, LOL!! (picture)
I have been getting a lot of flight time in and with the newly set CG it flies like a dream. No prob to get it to hang on the prop. Although I tend to do it nice and high and I can't hold it more than 6-8 seconds but thats because of my (lack of) skills. I'm thinking of moving the batt back a bit further (man, I love that batt hatch) and see if I can get it to drag it's tail a little more. Right now it is totally stable and landings are B-E-A-utiful

OOOppps meeting time. Gotta go

Poor snoopy he looks ok, bet he had a headache after that crash. looks like he hit his head on the canopy. Poor plane too well going to maiden my snoopy pilot today. Hope he does good better chech my cg again never know a little snoopy weight may change it a little.
Hope everyone is doing well with there TVV!$T keep em flyin.

Ah yes snoopy and the battery did change the way the plane flys. CG almost at 5 inches and it is very Manuverable. I got scared my thumbs jitttered never had that happen weird get eye twitches the works what a thrill. Oh and the wind was blowing 15 mph with gust to 25 that may have contributed to the twitching. First time i ever flew and could get the plane to stay in one spot without moving, just hovered there wow.
Landing was very intresting just came straight down and set it on the ground no approach or anything. Sure have to watch out though the plane almost got away from me the wind started to take it but i had enough power to bring it back what a fight. Snoopy did well on his trials.
The TVV!$T was an excellent choice to step up from the trainer, amazing how much easyer it is to fly then a trainer. But still each plane has it's own personality. No wonder this hobbie is so addicting. Now i want a Bigger TVV!$T. wish they made a gas size one that would be excellent. But i'm now looking at the 150 size TVV!$T as the next plane.
The PNP TVV!$T is hard to see in the sky sometimes though, that is the only thing that bothers me about this plane. Have to think of something i can put on it to make it so it is easyer to see in the Sky.

linkadrip, I learned a hard lesson with my first Twist. I was bringing it in dead stick in a high wind. I banked hard for my final turn and that big box kite profile I presented to the wind was just what the wind had been waiting for. It blew my poor little plane sideways right into a tree. The tree had been waiting for just such an opportunity and proceeded to shred my Twist and spit it on the ground in three pieces. I think the wind and tree were working together.
#1398
Well i guess i'm lucky the place i fly has no trees and the sheep have eaten all the big Bushes and its nice and flat now witch is great. Basically just a big Field And the sheep are working on the next area i'm gonna have at least 5 Sq miles of nice open land to fly on. Maybe in the future after i get good at flying i might attempt to fly somewere there are trees.
But as long as i have a big open area to fly in i think i will stick to it, all i have to worry about are gliders and airplanes taking off from the glider airport, and they said they didnt care if i flew there. i just have to keep my eyes open when there coming in for a landing.
I did notice the wind gust sure do kick the plane around alot have to keep on your toes. Think i will go fly again today theres no wind maybe i can do some tricks finally i want to hover the plane havent gotten a chance to do that yet.

Link,, Glad to hear Snoopy is earning his wings back,,,
Sounds like your having a great time, We flew in some good ol high gust winds last week and not 1 plane went down,, amazing,, I think when you fly in high winds your more alert and you don't become lazy or sloppy during the flight. they are prdicting winds up to 25 again tomorrow, so we'll be back out there playing in the wind again,, what a blast I say.
Awesome field you have there, Man you can fly some stuff that breaks the sound barrier with that kind of room....
great idea with the overhead arieal view heres Ours, we have about 400 acres we fly over, its pretty nice too, in the Pic the Grass field runway is where we fly now you can see 3 of our vehicals parked at the runway. lol the yellow outline of the road is where we started about 15 years ago and we parked where the arrow is near the road, loved that big long nicely paved highway for a runway, you just had to wait for traffic to go by to land is all, which some of the members didn't like, so we moved into the field thanks to the farmer who now rents us a spot. its cool,, and i like it anyway, but I do miss flying off pavement.

Waldopepperaxel your flying area looks pretty big too. i would think you could fly some pretty fast planes there . I went out and flew again today and there was a little wind but not much and i had a heck of a time. I got to do some 3D stuff but i couldnt get it to hang on the prop. probably not the right prop on it for that i guess. Its a 11X6 APC Sport prop. But the plane sure does go fast when there isn't any wind. I had a heck of a time landing. I made at least 5 passes before i finally landed and then i didn't land like i had hoped. Ran into a big weed and it killed the engine but no harm done.
I guess it takes awhile and some fiddling with different charteristics to get the plane to fly the way you want it to. All i did was put the prop on it. Added an exaust extention to keep the oil off it as much as possable and add a receiver and set up the radio, switched the location of the receiver and battery around and added snoopy. Come to think of it i guess that's quite a bit. But not enough.[sm=lol.gif]
I do think flying it in the wind at least a little wind is better then no wind at least you have a cushion of air to ride down on. the plane came in real hot even after i made several passes to try and bleed off speed.
It was the longest flight i have had with it so far. I flew for 20 minutes and didnt run out of gas thought that was amazing. I was getting scared there for a minute. I have only dead sticked it once, but i had that nice cushion of air helping me float.
I'm definetly not impressed with the radio i'm using in it. The Hitec Optic 6 just doesnt feel right, not enough weight to it or something. I think it might be cause it doesn't have the clicks on the throttle that i'm use to, I think that would help in trying to hover the plane, I got it to hover for about 5 seconds very disapointed[&o] The radio worked great for My Trex 450 Heli it felt right for it but not for the TVV!$T. I guess using one radio for a year on one plane then switching to another radio on the other plane is not wise.
I'm thinking about getting a 150, Come to find out it can use a 26cc Gas engine i didnt know this, till reading up on it a little. So there is a gas TVV!$T. But i better get the one i have flying the way i want it to before doing that and going bigger.
I have yet to fly off an assfault runway i started in the dirt and i'm still in the dirt. Now if i could just get the sheep hearder to put the sheep on the side of the road were the big weeds are i will have it made they did a fine job of clearing a nice big area were there is no weeds now But no i had to try and land on the road with the big weeds on the sides of it.
