Rolly,
Very nice! I emailed CMP and they are still producing the cessna. It's not on their website for some odd reason. What kind of flap system did you use? Is it an easy mod?

Nitrodan73 thank you for the comments. I use the Top Flite Cessna flaps. Very easy to do, just go to the Top Flite site and download the manual and study the flaps section.

Hi guys, I just finished the lights.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72z9P18iHpI
When I'm finished I need about 300 gr (9,5 oz) of weight to get the right CG altough I have a OS MAX 71 fs installed.
Can that be right?

While checking out the Hobby City site for electric motors, I ran across info to the effect that they have some
sort of US distribution facility that is now is offering both CMP Cessnas for immediate delivery.:

So if you are tired of waiting on Nitroplanes....

Well,
About two weeks ago, I got the wrecked 182 off the shelf to strip and get ready for another plane. I got looking at the firewall and decided to try one more time. I cut out the old firewall, made a new one from plywood, and fiber epoxied it in, re-mounted everything and balanced the plane this time with a balancer instead of my fingers. I also changed from the OS .46 FXi to the 55AX. Same dimensions and weight, but a little different needle valve placement.
After the engine break-in, I decided to give it another try. The plane gained speed a lot faster with the 55 and a 12/4 prop. Good strong engine. It flew great this time after I got it trimmed out. The wind was blowing about 10 MPH straight down the runway and that helped too. I made a good landing and checked everything out. All was ok. So I decided to tempt fate one more time. IT FLEW GREAT! "Fly it like you stole it" is the way to fly this one. Compared to trainers, you must keep the power on and keep that airspeed up.
I'll be taking this one back out this next weekend again and look forward to some more advanced learning how to approach, climb, etc.
I really like the 55AX engine. It seems much more responsive and powerful than the 46 Fxi I was running.
More later

LANDING GEAR SOLUTION?
Hey guys,
I think I may have a solution to the cracked Carbon Fiber gear issues. I had two sets of them and they both cracked during a "harder than usual" landing. Not immediately noticeable except for the unusual "stance of the plane" after a hard landing or two.
I bought the cessna 182 aluminum gear from Tower Hobbies. Stock Number LXUX08 . I had to cut them to fit in the same slots as the original gear. Then, I drilled a small hole in each one about an inch above the wheel on each side. Made two hooks out of some stiff wire and used wing rubber bands to "stiffen the suspension" .
It is quite forgiving with any type landing and you can adjust the "stance" of the plane by adding or taking out rubber bands. Doesn't look pretty but will allow you to practice landing this plane without cracking the original gear. Helps keep it from bouncing on landing too.
You can kinda see it here on this pic. I'll take a better one tonight and upload it.

God to know. I repair mine but next time I know were to get a replacement. The wheel Pants all so fit the Cessna and looks more scale too. Few pictures of new exhaust.

Happy new year to everyone!
I had my cessna on the scale and I'm curious if your planes also weigh about 4100 grams (144,62 oz, 10,98 lb)?
CG seems at the right point and the tank is empty !
Hope someone has the answer...

I'm running an OS 70 FS and a light package with a 5cell sub-c rx pack and a 6cell AA lights power pack. it took an extra 12 oz in the nose for balance along with the sub-c pack so the total weight came in at 12lbs 5oz. flys great but has a tendency to balloon right as the mains touch pavement if landing with full flaps (40 deg). 1/2 flap (20 deg) for take off and landing seems about perfect and makes for "greaser" landings every time. flys great even though the scale says it's heavy. Big fat loops and slow rolls are no problem... usually cruise at about 1/4 to 1/3 throttle and take off at about 3/4...the 70 is way more than enough power...I'd put a smaller engine in there if It wouldn't require even more dead ballast to make up for the lower engine weight.

Thanks for that info. I am starting to build my CMP Cessna 182 Skylane 50 also with the OS FSa-56 Engine and it sounds like it will have enough power for it. I was a little worried it may not because I believe mine will also be a little heavy because I am going with an extra 6v battery pack along with Navigation and Landing lights. I am also installing the Robert 654 nose gear. I have bought all new metal hardware because of the problems with the Rudder and plastic hardwear I have heard about. I will be using a Pull-Pull system for the Rudder and metal clevises with steel control horns. No plastic if I can help it. I know it is overkill but also a peace of mind. I went with the 2-3/4 wheels. Also it will have the Sullivan glow system. All these little add ons add up. I don't know what I should use for a prop. It will mostly be flown as a Sunday flyer. Nothing to fancy. No snap rolls but a few loops and grass takeoffs and landings. Some of you guys must have some advise so lets hear it. Thanks, Dave.

Anyone using flap/elevator mixing?
What throws do you recommend on the flaps ? Mine are a little steep and I want to set them down a little.
Thanks

I'm using 45% servo throw at full flaps. Elev-flap mix I'm using 8% down elevator. Check my video it flys and land very good with this settings.

Roly: Those look like very nice landings with that Flap & Elevator mix. Nice paint job. How much of a angle did you set the nose gear forward to? Also is that the Robart 654 nose gear?

glue that i use is called techniglue. It is a two part epoxy mixed at 2 to 1 ratio. It is strong as hell the surface that you used the glue on will break apart and not the glue. It is water based so can clean up with a damp cloth, you can pigmentate it , can use as a fillet, and is light weight. I use it on all of my planes and you can turn the pop stick upside down and it wron't drip and does not run
