My name is Galip, I am addicted to balsa dust and glow fuel. I am from Turkey and been in U.S. for 3.5 years.
I am a 25 year Chemical Ennginnering PhD student, started flying in June with my Tower Trainer and 4*40 as the second plane, a fun fly is waiting on the bench for covering and all the wood is stocked for the Ziroli Pitts scratch/plan building.
My PhD topic is Design and Manufacturing of Fuel Cells, future project for RC is equiping my Trainer with a Hydrogen Fuel Cell.

I'll keep the love going. Been here a while, but have yet to respond to this one.
Hi, my 'real' name is Adrian Cruz (Cruzomatic) a buddy of mine once called me Cruzomatic about 5 years ago and it just kinda stuck. I work in law enforcement, married, (high maintenance wife) with one son, (20 month old and my gift from God) and a 7 year old Rott/mix dog named Ben. I started in RC about 8 years ago racing an off-road stock truck Team Associated RC10T. I've always wanted to learn to fly helis/airplanes, but being a starving college student, with a ton of credit card debt and no real job to speak of, there was no way to afford it. I finished school, got married and started making a bit of money. I decided to start running my truck again after about a 4 year layoff. At the race track one Saturday, I was asked by fellow driver if I flew planes. I told him no due to the expected high cost. He told me he flew a Zagi and we walked over to his truck to have a look. There, he had a charged pack which was ready to go. He flew a demo flight for me in the parking lot and since that very day, I have yet to run my truck. Two weeks later, I bought a Zagi. That was 3+ years ago and have been flying ever since. I've owned a total of 7 electric planes and thought I'd never fly slimers. About a year or so ago, a buddy asked me to teach him how to fly on his .25 glow trainer. I told him I've never flown a 'slimer' before, but he insisted I would do just fine. Well, he was right, I flew that plane pretty good and our training got under way. Since then, he's soloed and I've bought two glow planes of my own, Sig 4*60 and H9 AT-6. Now, I have a little money in my pocket and searching for my 3rd. I know I need help.
Greetings all.

Hi All,
My name is Joe (never met a guy named Joe I didn't like
) Anyway, I'm 42, thought I was 43, but my wife corrected me, gained a year. I got into RC helicopters about 7 months ago (have 2, 1 is scale, Bell 222, which I have to paint this winter). Started with planes (micro's) about 2 months ago. Currently I'm building a Donald 4 Seaplane. The instructions stink, but I read they used to come minus the instructions, so I guess I can't complain. I have plans for a Interstate L-6 (cool looking plane I think, but aren't they all). I purchased an ajusto-jig from a very nice person in the forum. He also sent me the original plans & article (1964?) for Das Ugly Stick (nice guy!). He suggested thats a good first scratch build. So I'm taking his advise. I also have plans for an Edge, which will definately be a much later project. I figure if I build a kit first that will help a little when I start the scratch projects. So I'm going to be a busy little "kid" all winter
Its a GREAT hobby! Also you meet a great deal of nice people willing to help all they can.
I'm the database administrator for UIC's College of Nursing. Great place to work, about 98% women
But I have to be good my wife works here too. Thats where we met. She, my second wife is great about my hobbies. My first wife wouldn't let me do or buy squat. She never would have "let me" get into this hobby. Good thing I caught her cheating. Now I'm happier than I ever was
Finally RCU has been invaluable Its a kick *** site with so much helpful info & people.
Thanks RCU!!!!!!!!

My name is Eric, I'm 15, I live in Binghamton, NY (and its snowing here
) and am completely new to R/C planes (been running trucks and cars since I was a wee little boy) as a matter of fact I don't have a plane yet. I'm going to build the LT-40 kit over the winter and hopefully be flying next summer though.

"Hello, My name is Joe, and I'm a Glowaholic"
I'm a 44 year old computer network geek at a billion dollar credit union. I wandered into the LHS 3 weeks ago to look for a chess computer. I walked out with my billfold $400 lighter after buying a Hangar 9 Extra Easy 2 RTF setup, and a bunch of other stuff I needed to fly. I showed up at our local field http://www.radiodrone.net the next day. I'd never seen an RC plane fly till I got there! They checked out my plane, trimmed and test flew it. What a great bunch of guys! I've since joined AMA, and their club. I've got to fly once on a buddy box, and if the wind is halfway calm I'll fly more tomorrow and sunday. I'm currently building a a Ultra Stick 40 ARF w/Irvine .52 and spending quality time crashing in FMS...

My name is not Cirrus but I'd like to remain anonymous. I saved up enough money when I was 15 for my first RC set-up but then realized I had enough money to fly the full size variety. So I did that and have been doing it ever since. Now at the tender age of 40 I decided that I have to get it out of my system and went out ond bought a Firebird Commander.
I have been flying it from a local park that has 5 soccer fields together and have been having a blast. I've only had a few minor crashes and have not spent any money yet on repairs although I bought a spare wing. I can see the wing may be the first thing to go. This thing must be the easiest airplane in the universe to fly if I can do it right out of the box.
Flying RC makes me feel like a kid again. I do not know if I'm going to progress very far from what I'm doing now. The little Challenger satisfies my RC cravings for now. I'm planing on aquiring the G2 simulator and see where it goes from there. In the meantime I'm enjoying and learning from these forums very much.

Hey MinnFly,
My name is Mike I am 36 years old, from southeast Texas and I am sortof new to RC flying but have a lot of u control experience. I have flown a powered glider before but it was nothing like full powered planes!!
I started out a couple of months ago with a Kadet Senior kit, I have about worn it out already doing barrel rolls, loops, hammerhead stalls, inverted flight (TOUGH WITH DIHEDRAL) and stuff like that. For a trainer with rudder only it will really fly. I have also had just a ton of help from our club and have actually put in a few hours with planes with ailerons and normal control surfaces. For a beginner being in a club is a MUST. With their help I have quickly learned to manage crosswind takeoffs and landings with windspeeds of up to 20mph. I am not bragging on myself I am bragging on my clubmembers, they are awesome guys. 3 of them are nationally accomplished pattern flyers, and they have just bent over backwards to teach me what they know. I am now building a U CAN DO .60 with a .91FS and just bought a 9CAP radio since I expect it wont be my last plane, plus everyone says I need a computer radio to be able to truly enjoy everything a more aerobatic plane is capable of. The pattern guys that fly with me have taken the U CAN DO through the advanced pattern and claim it does unbelievably well so hopefully I can get a lot of use out of this plane for training, sport, 3D and pattern flight. Im about 1/2 way through the building project and cant wait to get out and fly something with some pep, I just pray I can hold back and not end up putting it in the ground taking aerobatic risks. Im also currently adding ailerons to my Kadet. I have been a flight freak all of my life and I wish I would not have waited 36 years to start flying RC. I had to give up my duck hunting to do it, but my wife said I had to trade one high$$$ hobby for another. From the online shopping to the building, and most of all flying this is really a lot of fun.

Actually, my mom is originally from Nottingham, and I still have a cousin in the area.
Your cousin's name isn't Robin Hood, by any chance?

Hi my name is Steve and I am at Lycoming College in williamsport Pa, but I am from Avon by the Sea New jersey. I am 20 years old and getting into the rc plane hobby. I currently own a real cheap plane that was like 80 dollars with two probs and unconvential 2 channel radio, basically u turn the stick to the left the rigth prop slows power a little. But my best plane is the Aerobird which really got me hooked on this hobby ! I am currently getting information on local clubs and thinking of joining the AMA and getting a trainer plane as well as a actual trainer to give me lessons. Hope to be a consistant poster !

G`day all, I`m living in Japan, but from Australia, wrong side of 50, but that`s not all bad; got the divorces and kids out of the way. I`m back into RC flying after a 20+ year layoff. My job is flying full scale (B737). I bought some gear (180 cm span Piper Cub, YS53 FS engine, JR 7 channel) from a colleague a few weeks back and now own three airplanes. rcunivese is a great resource for anybody in the hobby looking to solve a problem, or someone looking to get into the hobby. I thought the cub may have been a little too difficult to start out on, so bought a high wing trainer. Good decision I think. I also have a PreFlight simulator, and that`s good value. Graphics aren`t as good as Real Flight, but the models and realism are excellent.
I`m enjoying it more this time around I think and that`s partly because of rcuniverse being available. The net 20 years ago?? Did it exist?
The local group, (don`t know if it`s a club because I can`t understand Japanese) is very helpful, and I`ve already trashed one guy`s aeroplane. I have a new one for him on order, and thankfully it was only an electric, but an expensive electric. I soloed after 3 flights, so I suppose the almost 20,000 hours of full scale helped; well at least the first five or so hours helped, and that was the bit about how flight controls operate.
I think joe lansing is a cool guy. Fancy going into a shop looking for a chess computer and leaving with a complete rc setup???!!! Can`t help you with the chess computer Joe, but I do have an old backgammon computer that doesn`t work. You can have it for a hundred bucks!! That`ll save me putting it on ebay.
I see a scale F4-U Corsair in my rc future, and not too distant, so any input from you guys on a good model of that type would be most welcome.

My name is Sam and im 14. My interests in WW2 is the spark that ignited the flame for the hobby. Studying it has become a hobby of mine, and with it the hobby of flying R/C. I recieved my Hobbico Superstar Select last winter and began flyin this Spring. Im in love with the Hobby, but was unable to find allot of time this season to do it. I plan to fly my trainer most likely for another because of the ack of flight time and have been keeping my eye out for a plane I may want to purchase when that time comes. I hope to get into scale aircraft. Here at RCU, just like at the field, everyone is offering to lend a helping hand. Wondeful Site with great members.

Hi.
My name is Marcel and I am 13 years old, and I have bin flying for almost a year now whit an instructor at my club, so I am pretty new... I am planning to buy the laser 3d to be my second airplane. The thing I like the most in this hobby is to build the airplanes and construct new plans (the most plans I have made is free flyers, but I working on a fun fly)
When I'm not flying or building I sit by the computer and make 3d models for my brother, he's a computer programmer, and we make some cool stuff like small games and demos...
Thats all about me.

My name is Leo. I'm an electrical technition at an inner tube manufacturing plant. I've never flown before, but I'm building a balsa usa phaeton 90 with a McCulloch weed wacker motor and an airtronic VG6000 radio. Hope this is a good combo. I'll probably have to learn to fly on my own because there are no clubs in my area. I know I'll probably destroy it the first time out, but I have to have some kind of fun here.
BTW I'm 33 and have a wife and four beautiful children.

I'm a 44 year old computer nerd living at the base of Pikes Peak. I would love to learn to fly a full size airplane but my only daughter and all my money is planning to go to college next year. I hope RC planes will hold me until she's out of school.
I haven't flown a plane yet but I have an Aerobird Challenger arriving tomorrow.
Hey, Cirrus. If you can give me any pointers on the Aerobird I'd be forever grateful.
Ranchpig, isn't it a bit windy up there in Carbondale? Maybe once I get my plane up in the air we can meet halfway sometime. It's pretty flat out there in Southpark.

Hey Minnflyer,
I am 34 years old and I work as a KC-135E Crew Chief in Bangor, Me. I have wanted to get into the hobby for as long as I can remember but I kept putting it off until September of this year. I decided there was no time like the present and I bought an Alpha. I had my first flights the first weekend in Sept.
With a great instructor and NO buddy box, I was doing my own take-offs on the 5th flight. I soloed two weeks later on my 12th! Since then I have about 35 flights under my belt. It helps that I work evenings so I can fly during the day before work and not have to wait much to get stick time.
I am getting ready to put skis on for the winter so I can continue to improve. In addition to that, I have been pestering my wife like crazy for a Venture60 kit for X-Mas. I had never heard of the V60 until I joined this site but now I really want one. Hopefully Santa will be nice and I'll have a winter project!!

Try this: Find picture of Venture 60, cut out picture and post on fridge in kitchen. Look under tree on Christmas Eve and smile.

My name is Rick, I'm 30 and live in MS about 15 minutes from Memphis, TN. I work at the Memphis Airport for one of the alphabet agencies. I flew for about a year with a Superstar 40 and a Big Stick 40 then took a five-year break when I moved to upstate NY in the Army. It was just too cold so I sold all my gear to a guy transferring to AZ. I got back into it about 6 months ago. I have an Avistar 40 and a Hobbistar 60 in the scrap pile (radio problems-JR fixed the radio but wouldn’t replace the planes) The Hobbistar is still flyable sorta. It became a tail dragger, the fuse is a little crooked from being broke, the Vstab looks like "Save Willys' dorsal fin and it has a spad main wing now. I have a Superstar 40 wearing and Irvine 61 still in great shape and I'm almost ready to cover a Stinger 60 as my next one.

I am 44 and live in the Texas Panhandle and work for an oilfield equipment manufacturer. I got started in RC a little over a year ago when my new neighbor moved in and I got envolved helping him move some stuff that included some 15-20 planes. After noticing my interest in planes he got me started with a scratch built .40 low wing plane and radio. He also gave me a kit that he had had for a few years and it was a .25 trainer that I built. I guess you could say he is a lot more popular with me than he is with my wife
. I now fly both of my starting planes when I go out and and have a GP .40 P-51 on my building table right now.

hey harper,
Is the GP Mustang a good kit? I am thinking of getting one as my third plane and puttin a Magnum 70 4 stroke in it.
