Crashcrash,
Thanks for the tip, I'm 99% sure that it's all solid state, most of them are anymore, easier to manufacture. I'm gonna try it on HBK2 #2 and see what happens. I'll let ya know. It'll be awhile, just ordered another HS50 for the tail servo and a couple Thunder Power batteries. Most of the batteries I have are starting to wear out bad. Some over a year old. Good at the start, but fads out very fast.

Dave, if those have a mercury switching unit....it would be a problem. If they're 100% solid state...I don't see why it wouldn't work...just guessing.

Some pics of the day at the park with the GWS Estarter and the TREX. It was too windy for anything else. Jacki got her first maiden in and made about 3 circuits, then landed like she had been flying all her life. She then took off again and flew a couple more loops with another perfect landing. I then rassled the TX out of her hand and was able to fly awkwardly yet make a graceful landing as the wind had really picked up. Her last flight ended in a heap from about 30 ft up and a awesome nosedive directly into the ground. Broke the prop and pulled the landing gear out of the fuselage and broke some bits off the wing.
I then flew the TREX for about 9 minutes and about lost it, the thing got caught in a gust and came straight at me. I ducked and it went over my head about 5 ft above me and was heading for a grass knoll right behind me. I managed to give it plenty of throttle and collective and just missed the hill by a few feet. It took about a full minute to get it back to where I had control and spent the rest of the time hovoring..........heh.
We got some vid with my camera but its in .mov format (QuickTime) and I can't find a converter on the net to change the format to .mpeg so I can upload them to either here or Youtube. anyone know of a free converting program out there?

Our names are Tracy and Jacki....we're R/Caholics
.I got the tail stuff today and slapped it on. My fears on the project bird came to pass. #1. Not enough lift (I'm thinking 450 motor or an 11T pinion on the 3900kv motor here with a 11.1v 1800mah 15C...that'll take care of the lift problem). #2. No rudder control and it won't hold. That's gotta be a setup problem. It's acting like the gyro isn't even working but the tail motor is. Wants to swing tail to the right so the motor isn't putting out enough to push it left at all. Maybe it's just not enough propeller either. I tried it both ways...Esky gyro, and through the Eflite 3-1...it's just not there. I know the main blades need to be a tad longer too. Back to the drawing board Egor. Might have to run the tail motor (coreless) thru an ESC...dunno yet. It's do-able, just gonna take some engineering here. Hummmmmm....maybe a 180 motor on the tail?

Arrow, If you have windows movie maker open it up and import the file from the computer, you'll have to go find it exploring. Once you've got it on the maker drag and drop it to the time bar. once there you can edit it, add titles, credits, effects, and stuff like that. Next click on the save to computer and read what it says from there. It should automatically make it a WVM file. I hope this help! Looks like the GF is having a great time. Crashing and rebuilding is part of the fun, too. I once cart wheeled a trainer at high speeds about 10 yards in front of. It totally destroyed the plane but I LMAO for quite a while.
Crash, sounds like you've got a bit of work ahead of you, I hope all goes well!
Dave, no Focus for me[:'(] I've got my eye on that new Camaro[8D]
God Bless All!

arrow it looks like your girl is doing a great job =) I wish I could fly planks like her =P. For some reason I can fly heli's, but for the life of me I cannot get my head around a plank. oh well =P
well I just got these hs55's from www.hobbyhorse.com They look genuine, they came in hitec boxes and have hitec stickers and all of that. Shipping took about 4 days, and for the set of 3 it came to 37 bucks with shipping, what a deal!
Anyways, now I am looking to put them on. I was thinking about reversing the head to compensate for the inverted swash, but I didn't know if I could get the cyclic right with the servo reverser switches on the stock tx. If I have to I'll end up doing choppers' mod =) Anyone got any good words of advice for me putting these new servo's on? Thanks =)

Choppers Checking In:
Been flying the tail off the HBK2 and a couple good ones with the Trex. The Trex is still in prestine condition, the HBK2, I crashed twice.
Nothing bad, first crash busted blade. Second crash looked terrible, lost it in the wind. Came in nose first at a 45 degrees angle, and KA-POW! Throttled down and throttle trim down before she hit. Shaking my head and a little smile on the face, I walked over. Low and behold, no damage. This sucker is tuff, OOOPS, further investigation showed that the HS50 tail servo popped apart and the tiny little gears weren't there anymore. Off to the work bench, studied the HS50 servo and found that it is only pressed/snaps together, no screws at all holding the front and back of the servo case together like the HS55 or S75's. Waiting on parts now, or I could borrow the servo from the Trex, naaa, I'll wait. All in all had a great last 3 or 4 days flying. It's been awful hot and humid. I work outside all day at the job and it sucks.

Also Glad to hear your flying is going well.
After mentioning always changing light bulbs,I did a light bulb count the other day, ready for this, 93 florescent/incondesent bulbs, not a typo either 93. Holy Light Bulbs Batman!!!!
Arrow,
Great pics of the Trex, man you're lucky on the Trex getting caught in the wind and not gettin' clobbered or something. Great pic of Jacki and the Estarter, the one she's holding the crash, she still has a smile on her face. You guys are hooked and make a great team. Tell Jacki, that Chopper said, "Hi" and that a few black polka dots on the lavendar would look cool. Different sizes of course.[8D]
Radio,
I'm not a Ford fan either, just thought I'd be the smart ***** on the block.
I'm the old guy and drive one of them thar big ***** Buicks. LMAO.[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]
I checked out the Camaro, is this the one your gonna get. See pic at end of post.
Oh, and hang on to the ledge, i'm right behind ya in my chopper.[8D] ETA 20 seconds.(picture 2)
Rex,
What heli are you putting the HS55's on? What problems ya havin'? Got any pics of the problem. I'd be glad to help ya out. It may be easier to modify the servos than modify the swash and all the linkages. That could end up a nightmare or maybe not work at all. IMHO, i'd be sceptical of changing the head design at all. The wiring modification on the servos is a known workable solution.
Crashcrash,
Your top secret project, is [sm=47_47.gif] Shhhh, not a word.
Come on, you can tell US!!

TO ALL THE WEEEE DUDES:
Here's a site for the new Art-Tech, " Shark 450", awefully nice looking heli. However, Art-Tech is the same company that made the Falcon 3d and had a lot of trouble with it early on. Even Hobby-Lobby has dropped the Falcons. If anyone is interested, I'd hold off for 6 months or so and wait to see the reviews. Actually, I don't believe the Shark has been released for sale yet, but should be coming out very soon.

I missed your post =P I started modifying the head already =P I got it working though. I found out a couple of other ways to mod it as well. You should have them on your PM. Hopefully soon I'll do a writeup on it and post it here =) Total, there are 4 ways that I can think of to mod the heli to take the hs55's with the stock transmitter.
Thank you choppers and everyone else who recommended the HS55's The servo's seem really nice, alot beter quality, they seem to have more percision and power, and alot less slop, just live everyone has been saying all along =)
I haven't been airborn for a good while now, I've had a servo that the pot was dirty or something and it would just twitch. It kept dipping so bad in flight I couldn't realyl take the heli where I wanted to, and when I would go to land, it would try to plant into the dirt =P I've got the camera again for a bit, so I can try to post some pics if someone wants to see =) thanks again everyone!

Mrasmm guy,
Thanks for the information on the multiple posting. I just finished reading your PM. You're thinking to much.

Glad the head modification you did is working for you. In your PM, I would stay away from reversing the main and tail motor leads. The main would be okay if you flipped the blades over, but what about the tail rotor blades, HMMMM, wrong pitch, with design of the blade!!!
Your welcome for the advise, anything else, give me a shout. Best way any more to contact me is e-mail, I don't spend as much time on the forum as I use too. Other priorities. Flying okay fine, just a couple minor crashes. Trex and the HBK2 are the two helis I have now. Everything else is gone, sold, given away or trashed.
Best to ya Rex,
Dave / Choppersrule

OK quick point: Anyone who says the blade cp heli are good for nothing can go fly a kite. This little heli planted the seed in me that has grown into a monster. Well and everyone here has helped create this monster too. And I love it!!! This is what the bcpp has lead to for me....I'm becomming a heli [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5974113/tm.htm]NUTCASE[/link] and I love it. Still crossing my fingers to win that 600n pro. I will always keep this little bcpp. I love the little guy and wont ever let anyone take it away....

I gotta admit....I sorta miss mine, but I don't miss working on it. I'm running 2 HBKII's and unless I crash or hit....I seldom wrench on either of them...they just fly. In the blade CP/CPP favor...I can set up a heli perfectly because of the working on my CPP. The HBKII has problems out of the box too. Personally...I think the stock rotor blades are a joke. The stock motor and ESC are junk out of the box too and going brushless is mandantory. The final real defect in the HBKII is the inherient tendency to throw the belt which requires installing a taller brass shim and re-drilling the pin hole on the main shaft higher so the belt/pulley are properly aligned. After you get it properly set up...it works flawlessly. I spend time charging batteries and flying...not figuring out what's wrong. The HBKII electronics are pretty reliable other than some glitching once in a while with the stock radio system just like the Eflite stuff. If nothing else, owning the CP series will make you a good troubleshooter and heli mechanic.

Noah,
I saw this post, and I have to agree with you and Crashcrash, in a weird kind of love for the hobby. I had the Blades, all of them, the CX, CX2, CP and the Pro. I moved on to the Trex and HBK2, those are the only two I have now. It's kinda like cars, bikes, boats etc.
We always seem like a need for a change in life. I too, sometimes miss the old Blades, but don't regret moving up. The HBK2 is an affordable link to the performance of a Trex, only a tad smaller, not much. As Crashcrash mentioned, it's not that great out of the box. Needs the brushless motor, blades are acceptable. And still less cost than a Pro with a brushless. I just finished building my second HBK2 with the 3800kv bl motor, an 11 tooth pinion and a telebee gyro. Man Oh Man, it's as stable as the Trex. Don't forget, whatever heli you have, mechanical setup is imparitive(spelling).
A Change in Life: Always been a city boy, in 2 years, myself and Liz (Mrs. Rule) are moving to the country, bar none. Attached is a picture of my oldest daughters house looking out the back 40 (she's 30 yo) and I'm jealous. You can look North, East and West and see the same. There closest neighbor is one mile away, and 15 miles from the closest store/town.
Need anything, let us know,
Dave / Choppersrule

I will always keep this little bcpp. I love the little guy and wont ever let anyone take it away....
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee.......bcpp

Dave....what you took a picture of is what surrounds me. I live 1/4 mile outside the city limits but the actual town is across a river and has a total of 2 traffic lights....you will love it!

Crashcrash,
Liz and I are looking, Soo much to do this, like I said two years and it's a done deal. At my daughters house, at night, if the moon or stars aren't out. You can't see your hand in front of you, it's so quite and serene. Like, No Worries Mate. It's two miles off the main country road, then a gravel road about a mile to her house. Gotta love it, I will shortly. Another picture looking Southwest. I still watch the "Rifleman" everynight.
Get that secret project done and post some pictures and a video.

They were very unalarmed.
Project...still working on that in my head. I've basically walked away from it for a few days. I'm not going to butcher it up...I want it to look scale as possible and the electric tail motor is the way to accomplish that. I'm guessing maybe an EFlite TX and RX might solve the rudder problem but still, I'm dealing with a considerable more amount of torque than with the standard 370 motor. I'm even thinking coreless tail motor with seperate ESC for the rudder in combination with the gyro...if that makes any sense to you. I got a feeling that a coreless motor will need special provisions for mounting too. I'm still kicking things around in my head here.

Choppers Here:
TIP OF THE DAY:
After my second crash with the HBK2, and after installing new blades. I noticed that one of the blades drooped about a 1/2 inch. Prime suspect was the feathering/spindle shaft. Yep, it was bent pretty bad.
The tip is to put masking tape over the openings in the motor, I have a 3800kv outrunner on it, and the openings are pretty large.
The tape prevents any small washers, thrust bearings, nuts, etc. from falling into the motor and causing a nightmare trying to get them out.
Attached pictures say it all,

Couple of pictures of me flying in the basement with the HBK2. It's the same heli, only one is the stock yellow canopy and the other is a gift canopy from BetaPilot. Betapilot is a good man, I've been dealing with him for some time now and always comes through.
The one on the pool table, if you look closely at the skid toward you, I'm using the Deans one piece antenna.
Took the afternoon off and flew my brains out.
No crashes either.[8D]
Not the best of pictures, I had the camera set on the pool table with a 10 second delay. So, I didn't have to much time to get things the way I wanted. But there pretty good, for an amature.

Vic,
Thanks for the compliment. That's the HBK2 #2 with the 11 tooth and 3800kv brushless. Stable as a rock, love this critter. HBK2 #1 is fixed, new spindle/feathering shaft put in this afternoon. Now I have to wait for the HS50 tail servo I ordered. My last crash with #1, popped the servo case and blew the gears out.
Got my batteries charging, another half hour or so and away I go.
OOPs, as I was finishing this post, my charger was beeping, meaning it's all done, off I go.
