Vic, That Bell look's incredible[X(] I can't wait to see what see looks like with stickers and rocket pods. You could always make them out of a straw some balsa wood and tooth pics.? Pretty dang cool man![8D]
Jeff, maybe you and Choppers could do a trade. I think he'd be better off with the Miss Budweiser right now and he could send you back a couple of his fire extinguishers
That boat looks like some fun.
God Bless All,

You do a really good job with the fuselages...You make em look so darn good, that ya got me crinklin' on mine now...lol..
I guess this little Fusano will be kind of fun. Nothin to pretty since it's my first. But I might be needing some tips, so look out.....
I think I'am gonna put it on the one that has the aluminum tail broom as that CPP has all new parts head to toe, so this way I can keep my basher CPP for slamming in the sides of garages and such... [8D]
I had to do a few small cuts just so I could fit the two halves together so I could see it on the heli, to just get a 'general' outlook of what it would look like, and just secured it with a few pieces of tape so it wouldn't come apart while I look at her. I'll tinker with it for a bit while I await parts for the Trex... It's neat looking...Next to the Trex, it looks the same size, as the CPP has that 'puffy' look to the fuse which deceivingly makes it look larger. Kinda cool !
Anyway, back to work in two more days so I'll get a little more time on it, other than that I'll keep it as another project in the making's...!
Have a good one ! - Oh, pics of the Apache please......

J-Michael,
Beautiful Miss Bud....what is driving it.
When I was building speedy boats we didn't have too many decent engines (the 60's and 70's).
My favorite was the Taplin Twin "diesel".
My speedy boats were more of the hydrofoil variety. About ten minutes up the coast from me was Vosper Thornycroft's sea trials area so I saw things up to 60 ft. lock doing very high speeds.
My favorite model was based on PT-109...about 54" long, powered by my Taplin and with a set of home built aluminium foils. It had a Graupner gearbox to take the 7,000 at the engine output down to 3000 at the 2 3/4" prop. Twin rudders. Two channel radio bought from an American serviceman and an ungodly number of 1 1/2 volt batteries in the boat needed the twin to get it through the water. Needed full "beautiful sounding" power to get her on foil but I could cut back to a "nice drone" 30% to get a nice run.
I went through the early hydros and three pointers back in England in the Sixties....we had no knowledge of the unlimiteds using Allisons and Packards as you had over here...we saw the Italian three pointers of smaller engine capacity. My full size boat (built with Honorable Pater) was a 14 ft monohull (what you might know as a river racer) with a Jag 2.4 six cylinder in it.
Loved it when turbines came to the fore in the unlimiteds over here and the different prototypes in the eighties.
Maybe that's why I dig the WIGs. Nearby dude used to run an electric duct fan wig based loosely on the "Caspian Sea Monster" the Soviets built in the eighties. He piled it up 'cos he was trying to push it too hard. He wanted plain speed and where the WIG looked good and handled well at slower speeds, once you put the power to it it would leap out of ground effect and stall and then nose in.
Dude couldn't appreciate that you needed more power to breaks the initial hull/water friction but once clear of the water he had difficulty in backing off enough.
Never mind...an interesting exercise.
Do you have video of your Miss Bud....?
Nice flying weather here so the birds will fly this eve.
New Align esc for the 400 arrives on Wed so it'll be up to my HBK2 to fill the void.
Just ordered my new EXI 450....wait and see what arrives.

Hey Guys
I'm hoping to get flying again soon(getting adjusted to new job and schedule). In afew months going to get a HBKII(from JAG Hobbies of course) and looking at picking up a good flight sim. Which sim you guys think would be the best? I'm looking now at FS ONE or Phoenix sim. If I remember right G3.5/G4 is a processor hog on a computer and can be tough on a PC.
Thanks

Well the Miss Bud doesn't have an engine in it... I got it from a friend along with his CPP that he wrecked all for $125.00 awhile back. Came with a little pile of CPP parts, and since I already had a CPP, I couldn't resist...Lol.. Not to mention I used to work for Budweiser for a couple years, I found the craft quite charming...! He was giving the engine to another friend, and so I took that out. Not sure what it was, and know nothing of the boat scene but it makes for a nice little piece for the ol' collection ! Don't really plan on doing anything with it I guess, just as a keepsake for now...
The CPP I got from him, is the one that I'am putting the fuselage on...Looks different now. All replenished and brought from the dead (LMAO).
Before and after pics below:
Oracus
I have the G4 that I got a few months ago with a few expansion packs and really enjoy it...I got my dad one for his birthday also as he is into the hobby...We both had to get new laptops to be able to run the program and all its benefits...It's very nice, but yes it can be a hog ! I'am sure other sims would provide just as much usefulness as the G 3.5 or G4...
Take care,
Jeff

RICK again, reporting "something ! "
I am so EXCITED to have received the EXTRAORDINARY job that CRASH-CRASH did on my HBK-2
I suppose that pictures will prove that Mr. VIC is one extraordinary tech. and Heli ARTIST
I am so tremendously happy. Unfortunately, the two winglets in the tail were ripped off in transit
and one of them is badly mangled. I think I will be able to fix with epoxy, and besides, the damage
done is on the bottom side of the winglet.
REGARDLESS, I am SO PROUD........to share with my B.O.B 's
I find it HARD TO BELIEVE that I am looking at one C X - 2 and one H B K - 2 !!!!!!!
The one of the BigBELL alone also shows the DX-7 programmed by VIC and the 2 WINGLETS that were ripped off the heli and broken by the Postal Service today
NEXT : a film of both the BELLS : F L Y I N G !!!!!!

Hey Guys, Nice Scalers by all.
Just got the HBKII today and checked it over. So far only problem was the battery cover on the transmitter. I can see where the belt doesn't quite line up on the pulley guides. Looks like the gear is too high or the guides are to low. No time to work on it today but hopefully I'll have more time tomorrow to work on it. Gotta go!
God Bless,
Jay

Jay,
Dittos to the Nice Scalers, Vic and Rick, (hey that rhymes) or is that Rick and Vic. Anyway, NICE job Vic on Ricks Scaler.
Rick,
You need to file a claim with the post office for damage goods on arrival, it was insured and that's what it's for. Love your collection. Get a video to us ASAP.

Jay, again,
Even though the belt doesn't line up, it is flyable. However, don't do crazy stuff with it yet. When you install the 43 tooth drive pulley, it comes with an additional guide. You use the existing quide AND the one provided with the 43 tooth pulley. That will fix that problem. Comes with installation instructions, follow it to the T. See NOTE on bottom right hand corner of the instruction sheet.. (Don't use original washer)

J-MICHAEL,
Jay has a wonderful plan, I'll send you a fire extinguisher and you send me Miss Budweiser, does the stand come with it?

Glad you are back on-line and having a ball with the helis again. Yikes, pretty hot out there, 110 degrees.
We, my wife (Liz) and I have weathered the storms okay, with minor damage, now all is back to normal. Looked pretty bad for a few days. Yeah, groceries and gas are outrageous, gas here fluctuates 10 cents, plus or minus, $4.00, for now. Predicting $5.00, like you, by the 4th of July.
Getting woodies for now, may be a good idea. Your skills are advancing, and we all have a tendency to push our limits. That's okay, that's how you learn. The bad part is you/me/all will crash.
Get a half dozen for now!
I mentioned earlier, I've had 6 crashes this year. For an old guy, that ain't bad.[sm=spinnyeyes.gif][sm=spinnyeyes.gif] You are doing fine, just takes tons of practice and more practice.
On a closing note, concerning screw drivers, I have a hard time finding my #1 phillps.

Take care Jeff,
Dave / Choppersrule

OK Choppers...now I have a mini problem...:
Ref the HBK2....
You mentioned following the instructions to a T when upgrading the drive belt new guides. I bought them upon your recommendation and the kit came with no instructions or diagrams whatever.
Are they available as pdf's do you know....?
Pray tell me what the 43 tooth gear will do for me as I'm still an ignoramous where the HBK2 is concerned. My kit arrived from Jags with not even a decent exploded diagram. For such a nice machine, the verbage is a mite inadequate.
Good weather here but do I hear of yet another levee failing....?
I'm sorry (more indignant really) but I find it disgusting that in this day and age in the USA such a thing is possible when "officials", both imposed and elected, have known of the deterioration for bloody years.
Both birds are flying beautifully now I've rid myself of the training gear....I'm doing two packs with each bird every evening so my confidence level is getting better....working on altitude control at the moment and, slowly, it's coming together.
New speed control for the 400 arrives tomorrow but she is operating perfectly at the moment.....go figure.
Must away...another long day tomorrow....it's tedious measuring a lotta pipe in a boiler house to within a 32nd of an inch in all three axes.

congrats on the scale birds , they look awsome barrrick. glad folks seem to be having a good time with the flying lately for the most part.
My news from the home front, made a set of tail fins and tail boom braces from scratch this weekend , it was kinda fun. I cut apart an old lower cp frame I had laying around and used the 90 degree 5/64ths rod mounts to create a spot for some old training gear rods to go from midway on the rear landing struts up to a bit behind mid tail. in the clasic way you usualy see most pod and boom hellis have. then I did a balsa mock up of my stablizers baised vaguely on the ones the cp pro 2 will have . then I made a mould from the balsa mock up and cast new ones in plastic resin. driled a few holes and some 5/64th bolts later I have a performance looking tail for nearly zero bucks
will upload pics tomarrow if any one wants to see em . it was a fun project , and the weight is almost nothing. still need to make a mount for the other end of the tail brace sticks but that should be fairly easy. will probably cast some new holders for the ends of the carbon sticks to mount to the main landing gear as well , so that the angle is a bit sharper than 90 and so the struts go straight to the tail vs the slightly bowed way they do now. have fun every one

Jeff...I bought an Apache 1:32 scale and robbed stuff from the model to put on my Ranger (weapons, decals, etc). I just got the blades painted tonight....after I flew 5 batteries through it. I think I finally found the sweet spot on the pitch and throttle curves (it won't be like this when I get my DX7...LMAO). Look closely, you can see the chain gun under it. Haven't decided if I'm gonna mount the FLIR and some rocket pods or not yet.

Crash
Looks really good... I noticed flying today, that I to need to adjust some pitch curves, as the heli is a tad heavier, but still faired o.k. in some small breezes. & then of course the occasional glitch or two...Gaaaaawwwwwddddd gotta love the CP-PRO...!! LMAO.... I really do need someday to put an Ar6100 in those CPP's so I can just bind them to the DX-7 and be done with it. I hate to dump money in them, but I think its time...Just got done mounting two little antenae's on the side. Since it's police as part of communications...I need a spotlight !
I'am monitoring heat inside the cab, to see if it's worse or better...I run my Thunder Power 3-cell 1320mah 13c batt... I thought maybe hotter, as the extra weight factor, but then there is also more air-space inside the cab for circulation. Well we'll see....
My other CPP which is not the Hughes I put a Novak cooling fan for the engine, and it runs cooler. If I was in Washington right now, I wouldn't have to, but down here in Cali it's a different story...! I have another one as the pack comes in two, so I might install one on the Hughes maybe...We use them on our RC-Cars ecu's and such, low low draw, and extremely light, but very good power...
See ya about,
Jeff

WOULD have tried to fly my new HBK dressed as a BELL today
but realized that the tail BLADES ( which now run unprotected for the new fuselage length)
actually extend about 1/4 inch past the vertical surface. Was meaning to post the film
today. Maybe on Saturday will make it FLY
The slightest angle of positive atack on the heli will wipe out the blades, should it be
started as it is. planning to use the extended rod with ball that was used in the CP PRO
BUT can see it will be hard to attach, no surface there, other than shiny flat plastic

]WOULD have tried to fly my new HBK dressed as a BELL today
but realized that the tail BLADES ( which now run unprotected for the new fuselage length)
actually extend about 1/4 inch past the vertical surface. Was meaning to post the film
today. Maybe on Saturday will make it FLY

Jeff, That Hughes looks extremely awesome! That fan motor is a good idea especially for inside that fuse. Very Nice.
Vic, The Bell keeps getting better and better. No Flir or rocket pods? Of course more stuff to catch on and get torn off.
Dave, hunker down..... looks like even more rain[:'(]

Jay

Just back in from the maiden of the HBKII. It's a very different bird indeed
Hovering was very stable above the ground effect but the tail wouldn't trim for anything, back and forth. The head speed with the stock motor is barely the minimum. I flew it with a TP1320 and it got pretty warm but not nearly as hot as the motor @ 193 F. That was even after a few minutes of sitting, I see now why they don't last long. I'm very happy to have this one, I should have taken the plunge a long time ago

Rick, protecting the tail is always a good idea. I hope you get the carbon rod mounted up without to much hassle.

Jay

Rayelljay,
Attached is the instruction page, I received with my 43 tooth pulley. It really doesn't tell you how to disassemble the heli and what needs to be done. Just placement of the ADDED quide and a note not to use the original washer.
However, I did find two videos on youtube that will aid you with your installation. Oh and your right, not much there on the installation sheet from Extreme. Like most products, the assume you know everything about everything. LOL It's a two part video.
Here they are:

Hope this helps,

Jay,
I am a hunkerin' down for the next barrage of storms, looking at the doppler it doesn't look nearly as bad.
HBK2: Once you get your brushless motor, telebee gyro and 43 tooth pulley. You will see an amazing difference. You have already seen that the stock motor is not worth a nickel. As far as the tail not triming for you, a couple things come to mine, belt to tight or to loose, tail servo needs adusting, forward or aft. Also, the stock gyro, which I believe is a 0704 is a rate gryo and not a head holding gyro. Try tweeking that. Once you've got the upgrades completed it will be a different heli. I can hover in the basement about 2 inches off the floor, in the box, with no problems.
Best to ya and God Bless,
Dave / Choppersrule

HELLO
my name is RICHARD F. BARR and I am A T-REX-A-HOLIC
fellow HA members : I am hopelessly addicted and my brain is FRIED
Because the TREX that was offered in RCU is an EXACT duplicate of the
one that LOOKYJ did for me, I just bought it.
The RATIONALE is that if I have 2 IDENTICAL helis, my chance of losing
learning time b/c of crashes gets reduced, rather.
this is an offer I can't refuse. Flown 5 minutes total, with the exact identical setup (JR dig.servos - 500T ring GYRO - high end motor, 2 batts
I have a new 6100e waiting for it.
Now that I have the TREX programmed in the DX-7 BIG QUESTION: do I just BIND the new RX and the HELI takes it, automatically ???????
hope my question makes sense ! [
]
ps THE SECOND AND THIRD PICTURE is the NEW TREX

The 6100E will bind BUT....every heli is different in settings. This T-Rex MUST be programmed into the DX7. It would be a pain to explain BUT I would copy the existing T-Rex to the new T-Rex channel and fine tune it by making the adjsuts that this T-Rex likes. IN A WORD....NO...you cant just "plug and play".
