That's because it's made of rubber and gasoline eats rubber over a period of time. Others are made of polymers that resist the effects of gasoline. That's not to say that you can't make a black polymer stopper but you would be hard pressed to make a rubber one other then black. The black stopper Toymaker is using is for gas according to the manufacturer.

Has happened to me.
The only stopper for gas I trust now is the DuBro "brown" one. But that may just be my experience only.

I ordered a Bisson wrap around muffler from Horizon Hobby in early November when when they were back ordered to early December. They are now back ordered until January. Does anyone have an opinion on the JTech wrap around muffler? Do they effectively reduce the noise without a huge impact on performance? Any other recommendations?

Yes. I've used the J'Tec. The standard does a good job, the "quiet", with a significantly larger canister volume, quiets things even more, but the cost is BIG MUFFLER. Lots of cutting of cowls, etc.
I thought the J'Tec standard Pitts was pretty good. Definitely MUCH quieter than the stock.

No, actually, I don't know if you've taken the time to notice but everytime this thread gets locked we lose more experienced people. They just don't bother coming back to it because they figure it's a waste of time. Once the knowledge base is gone the inmates are in charge of the asylum and the thread becomes pretty much useless.

Bob,
Is this picture the standard Pitts you are talking about? It came from the J'Tec web site.
Can someone tell me what the definition of a "Pitts Muffler" is?

CHuck - those are the "side Inverted" mufflers. The "Pitts" is normally configured to "wrap around" the cylinder, engine inverted, such that the canister is cross-ways under the engine box, and the exhaust tubes point down near centerline of the fuse, and cant slightly rearward.
Pic attached is NOT a DL 50, but is a good example of a bottom view of a Wrap Around PItts-style muffler.

Some are running a single A123 cell for the RC Excell igntiions with good results, too. That's only 2.8 oz.... and the 2300 mah capacity means it's a charge it once a month kind of thing....
Lots of options!!!!

Hi guys,
I have been following the threds and if I may suggest,
I like to use lion batt with a regulator for my Rx and my ignition as well, I buy them from Troy built models Inc. They have lots of good electronics for airplanes,

arent the single cells just 3.3 volts?

Bosco2 - you are correct, Troy Built has lots of good electronics accessories, but the disadvantages of LiPos for me made up my mind to do the A123. Once I did, it was over for me. They (the A 123) are really outstanding batteries with none of the risks from handling errors, and easier to manage charge/discharge with. To each their own; I know there are THOUSANDS of lipo users out there happy as a clam.
I like the A123, and enjoy "testing" other ways to skin all of these cats in our hobby.....
