Not reducing the amount of fuel but rather air, closing the throttle valve completely should shut the engine off immediately.
Yes, just like a glow engine a throttle kill should always be programmed, tested and maintained on any model airplane engine regardless of fuel type.

<div id="post_message_1405649">Can anybody recommend where to get 40mm standoffs for the DLE-30 in the US? I'm going to enlarge the firewallholeon my 25% MX2 to accept the engine carborator in order to get the neccessary spinner to cowling clearance.
I found these at Seacraft: http://www.secraft.net/shop/step1.php?number=611. But they also have a similar type too?: http://www.secraft.net/shop/step1.php?number=681
My longer stock DLE standoffs are threaded on both ends for 5mm I believe, but I assume with the 40mm standoffs you could alsojust use one bolt to go through the standoff and into the firewall. I've noticed the mounting holes on the engine are also threaded so this would work as long as the new standoffs were not threaded and a single 5mm bolt would fit through them.
Sorry to sound confusing, I just don't want tospend $30 yet onsomething thatmay notwork.</div><! / message >

Standoff Gas Engine Mount, 38mm EVO3307 List: $24.99 $19.99 In Stock
You could call the local hobby shops like Mike's and ask if they have them or could get them for you.

Thanks, I see you're right up the road from me. I forgot to check at Mike's! I'm sure he could get them if he dosen't have them already.

1-1/2" stand offs, add a flat washer under them against the firewall and you'll be at 40mm.

The guy's over at Troy Built Models said they are getting about 6 flights out of a 1400mAh ignition battery. How many flights are you guy's getting before needing a recharge? Only 6 flights out of a 1400mAh pack seems awfully low...I hope. I've got a 2000mAh on mine and I'm hoping it'll get more than 8.

Please note... they are saying 6 flights... not minutes or hours... could be 6 flights of 20 minutes which would be 120 minutes or two hours... or each flight at 10 minutes which is 6 X 10 equals 60 minutes... not counting warm up times., etc...

Your right they don't say how long the flight times are but typical is about 10-15 min. I've run Rcexl ignitions on a test bench for 4 hrs. straight on a 1400 mah 4 cell Nicad so unless they're flying more than 30 minute flights they're not coming close to the capacity of the battery.

Need help with engine issues possibly. I have a new dle-30 on a AW edge 30cc 540, gave its 1st flight today (great plane) on its 3rd flight I tried to do a blender and when I fed in some down elevator and started to come up on the throttle the engine died two seperate times. It will fly from skyline to skyline inverted with no problem, snaps no problem there either 4 point rolls same thing, just when I start to add throttle to flatten out the spin the motor gives out. While on the ground good throttle response from idle to full throttle. Does anybody have any suggestions.

Tap the atmospheric pressure diaphram cap of the carb. Problem solved.
Here's a guide for you if you've never done this before: [link=http://www.thunderboltrc.com/tutorials/tutorial_seven.html]http://www.thunderboltrc.com/tutorials/tutorial_seven.html[/link]

Its not lazy Cap'n. The templates have the centerlines drawn which make it easier to line up w/a firewall that has those lines etched on it so you don't have to guess at the location for the cowl's center or add unwanted up/dn thrust.

Sorry I should not have said lazy. Don,t go by the template alone. Do a lot of measureing & checking to make sure you get things right...so you do not need to re-drill. I made a device like Tire old man & Antique uses to center engine so crank will line up on center too. See beolw. Capt,n

My engine started giving me trouble today. I'm still basically bench testing and finishing up some build stuff. The only two things I've changed are that I installed a fuel filter and was running with the cowl on. Engine runs for a minute or so than stalls. The fuel line seems to have a lot of bubbles in it. How long should I be able to run with it on the ground before taking off? I realize it won't get the cooling it needs just sitting on the ground but it seems like it should run longer than it is.
