Schooobaka I just bought the Axe two weeks ago. Am very satified, already able to fly around the yard. I have had realflight since december and have been flying the Axe on it for about a month. It is very helpful. The Axe in the sim is a little more stable than the real thing becase it is perfectly trimed out. The axe radio does work on real flight. The sim is really worth the money, watch out for instant rebates on tower you should be able to get twenty dollars off. It will definitly pay for itself.
Tex the only problems that I had were the That I had to adjust the gyro to get more stability. If you search this site you can find a thead that is all about the Axe Cp gyro. You might want to order a spare set of blades and blade grips like nzak said. I took a prety nasty drop the first day from about three feet up. I just split the plastic on the blades. No major damage. This little heli is very durable.
I am a total noob, never had any experience(except for the sim) and I was able to hover for about 15-20 second on the third battery.
For anyone who orders the AXE CP you will be very satified if you are trying to learn if you are patient and take it one step at a time. Fights thye wind pretty well too.

I'm glad were seeing this unending tide of new Axe flyers! I am also glad that almost every new pilot is mentioning a sim of some kind. I'm tellin' ya, the Axe and some kind of sim just must go together!
I want to go fly today but I sprained my wrist snowboarding [:@]
I think a couple more full charges spent just hovering around and I'll be ready to try some timid FF outdoors when I find a really calm day. I have been tireless on Realflight and I just like going back and forth and working on clean turns and crash avoidance. I can't quite get steady on the nose-in hover yet...

Thanks guys, I have some heli experience already so I am excited to start flying this Axe. It looks 100% better than the Blade CP.
I ordered CF blades, two lipo packs and a rear blade. My LHS has the grips so I am set there.
So are you guys saying that the grips break easy or are they just bad design?

Tex, I think they just break easy when u contact the ground or something else in a less desirable manner than landing. They are harder to replace, but much cheaper than a set of blades. I don't think it is a design flaw, just a weak point in the rotor system. I am planning on getting the cnc parts when they are all available, hopefully that will help. By then I should be able to fly much better so I may not need frequent replacements anyway. Then again, the learning curve on a heli is quite long.

I just got a 1700 mAh battery yesterday, no charger yet. I am working on a balance issue, need about 1.3 ounces in the front. Quite a bit, not sure if I will use the battery or not, thats the beauty of e-bay, I can always get rid of it easily.I weighed the training gear, .5 ounces. I think I am going to be in the neighborhood of around 2.2 ounces heavier than stock, maybe too much for a 16.5 ounce heli. When I get a charger, I will know for sure

Tex, no msn. It is a lipo battery, an e-tec. Got it cheap yesterday at a swap meet. Figured I would give it a try. I will try to get some pics of how I have it mounted and see if I can figure out how to post them here.

I just got my Axe two days ago. My wife bought it for my birthday. I had been practicing with Real Flight for about 5 weeks. With all of this practice I was able to get it trimmed out and be hovering tail in by the third pack Friday night.
On Saturday I went down to the LHS and bought a Thunder Power 3s 1320 lipo. WOW this thing flies so much better with the lipo battery. Was having a great time until my heli started to glitch so I landed it then I lost all controll of the heli. I went down to my LHS and we figured out that the entire receiver had died. [
] We were able to cannibalize the receiver from a broken Axe they had in the back. Now all is well. I am just waiting for my batteries to charge so I can go fly it some more.

Heres the rest of them. I am going to add the weight to the tip of the canopy, since I always fly it with it on, figure it helps protect the reciever and esc/gyro. I guess putting the weight as far forward as possible also means less weight, is that right?

Tex, its mounted directly beneath the main shaft, only place it would fit. No battery at all where the stock pack goes, thats the reason for the 1.3 ounces in the tip of the canopy. I may try melting down some fishing weights to a simialar shape to the canopy nose and tape or glue them inside once I know if its going to work or not.

If you have to use weights, use BBs.

The width is fine, just a bit too tall. Don't want to go cutting the frame so I managed to squeeze it in under the main shaft. I am trying to look at this as an experiment for more flight time, if it doesnt work, I will get a different battery that will fit in the stock location, even if that means less time. I have this problem with wanting to fly for at least 30 minutes no matter what I am flying. I think my top flite cessna 182 is going to be a bit heavy due to fuel weight, I need rehab!!!! Anyone know a place??
