The first thing to linking pics is to look in the top right hand corner of any posting. There is a button for "Reply". You have to do this first. Then on the reply screen you can type in your message as usual. Down on the bottom of the message field there is a link to "Click here to upload images and files". Click that and then you can add any file that is on your computer. Let us know if you still need a hand.

Did you ever finish yor Tiger 60? I was wondering how it flew withe the clipped wing. I finished mine Pics on the other tiger 60 thread. Then I had a radio problum and it ended up needing a new wing. but just found a new tiger kit for $40.00 and grabed it up. I am thinking on doing the cloped wing and just wanted to know how yours came out.

I had almost everything done except some final fuel proofing, minor radio install, and balance check. Then life and interests took another turn and I came to the conclusion that my planes would be better off in the hands of appreciative pilots who would give them a good home with regular attention instead of my darkened basement. So "Tigger" found a new home in Texas about 6 weeks ago. However, the new owner was kind enough to let me know how the fruits of my labor panned out.
In his own words:

Just to let you know I flew the Tiger about two weeks ago and flew very well, 2 clicks up and 1 click right and hands off, the .82 pulls it through the air pretty good, it will knife about 200 hundred feet before falling, about another 100 feet and have to roll out, just not enough power, it rolls great, loops nice and tight, snap rolls, and half cuban eights are good, inverted is also nice, lands very slow and nice.
I moved the battery up to the fire wall and got by with a little under one pound in the nose, might can pull another three ounces out. I'm going to have to open up the cowl as the engine really wants to overheat, I'm running very rich but still gets much to hot, even the spinner is very warm, so don't want to ruin the engine, so I have a little more work to do, but the plane is really beautiful and a good Sunday flyer, no regrets here. I put three good long flights on it, and put it through the paces.
Thx for a very nice plane,

I did a clipped wing on a 4 star 60 after I flew it for about 6 months. I took 3" off each wing and what I noticed most was the roll rate. Landings stayed almost identical as far as speed and floating upon landing. I now have a Venture60 that I built with the shorter wing and it also flies great. I also only used about half the dihedral it called for for a little more aerobatics. Similar design so I would imagine it should work great..

I never found it on line - I had to track down the actual mag at the Milwaukee Public library and scan it. PM me with an E-mail address and I can send you the PDF's.
I'd post it here, but the files are to large.

Been flying my Tiger 2 - 3 times a week for about a month now. Up until yesterday had no problems. Got caught in a cross-wind gust that flipped the plane over on final approach about 8 to 10 ft off the runway. It cartwheeled into a grassy area and came to rest on its wheels about a hundred yards away. Didn't look too bad until I got close. The vertical stab was cracked at the base and leaning over a little; the fuse was split just behind the canopy. The only thing holding the fuse together was the pushrods connected to the servos and a few pieces of covering. It is now on my workbench as I remove the Ultra-Cote, which by the way is a bear to remove. I'll have to fabricate the former and rebuild that part of the fuse sides. It's not as bad as it looks, I just need to ensure there are no hidden cracks in the fuse. Fortunately the wing came through it with no 'apparent' damage.
This plane is wonderful to fly. It does everything I want, and the .91 four stroke moves it through the sky without any issues. I started flying it with a 13X8 APC prop, but put a 14X6 on it and clipped the tips to make it 13 1/2. I clipped the prop because I wanted more clearance at the nose wheel. It is no speed demon, but a lot more controllable for me on the approach and landings. I figure it will take about a month of work to rebuild it and try it again.

I just finished my Tiger 60, balanced at 4.25 inch, about midrange of what Tower Hobbies says on their web sight. It took about 16 oz. to balance. I flew it once this week and was not happy with it, seemed a little eratic. Where are you all balancing ? Would appreciate your help.

Mine balanced per the plans without needing addition weight on a trike landing gear. I don't understand why the need for a pound of weight to balance it, unless it is a taildragger. Also, did you balance it side to side? I had to add a 1/4 ounce to the starboard wing tip.
I just completed repairs and with finish covering the repairs next week.

Tail dragger, had to add about 6 or 7 oz to the nose, even with the engine cowling. It flew great until the battery problem reared its ugly head. I say battery because after checking my batteries I have found 3 others that were not charging well and had to replace them also. Hope to get the tiger in the air before the snow falls.

sprgfvr02: Mine is a trike gear w/Saito 72, I mounted the battery up front in the fuel compartment. When I flew the plane, it was slow coming off the runway and the whole flight acted like was nose heavy. Balancing inverted on a Great Planes balancer. Wish I had an answer.

Panhandledon, what prop are you using on your 72? I have a Saito 80 in mine and it is a Tail-dragger, I did not need to added any weight front to back, but I am using a higley's heavy spinner. If you think it is acting a little nose heavy shift your weight back small amounts at a time and see if it makes a difference.

Well, I finally finished my Tiger that I began last December. I worked on it a lot last winter, but it seems that there was so much to do during the summer that I didn't have time for it. Anyway, this is my first build, and I was dreading the covering job, but in the end I'm pleased with the results.
It's a taildragger with the battery underneath the fuel tank and a Saito 82 with a 13X6 prop, and it balanced at 4 in. without adding any weight at all. It's difficult to understand how some of you had to add upwards of a pound of weight. I did, however, need 1 oz.in the right wingtip.
The maiden flight was yesterday, and I can't tell you how pleased I am with this plane. It required very little trim, and flying it is a pure pleasure. Since this is my first low wing model, I'm still getting used to the extra ground effects on landing, which is a welcome change. I'm looking forward to flying this plane for a long time, if the well-known gremlins don't show up.

Isheeted everything with bulsa, I than used 0.75 Oz fiberglass on the full plane. Ithan Airbrushed on the paint job.
Engine is a Satio 100 Fa with a 14X7 3 blade. Iadded flaps to help land as I am at 10 LBS ready to fly. Isoon found out that the flaps are not needed, this thing will glide for days at idle. It took me 4 attempts to land as it kept floating past the runway.
It was a joy to build and a blast to fly.

Second plane is a Top flite gold edition kit P51D
I am starting a second tiger 60, scratch build from the orginal plans. I was thinking on a Zenoah g20EI and retracts. The extra weight of the engine should eliminate the need for nose weight.

Here is the low down on the New Tiger 60 build. I put in E-Flite 60-120 Electrict Retracts, I had to have the wheels out of the wing skin as it would have taken too much out of the wing spar and the LE. I have a DLE 20cc gas engine on order. I am hope to pick it up this weekend.
The fuse is full covered with bulsa than MINWAX spar varnish (it is used for decks and has UV protetion) I find that it makes a great surface to paint on. It also cures over night and gives you a lot of time to lay fiberglass if you are going that route.
I relocated the rudder servo to the tail and put in2 high torque, miniservos for each elevator half. I put them on different channles than mixed them together.
I relocated the throtle servo up front where the tank use to be,
I picked up a narrow 12 OZ fuel tank and converted it for Gas and mounted it over the C.G. I used copper 1/8" tube and ran the tank vent out the tail section about 6" behind where the wing bolts are.
I used 1/4"x20 threaded inserts (Home depot)and made a nice wing mount. It replaces the stock wood blocks. I used 3 layers of 1/8" aircraft plywood. It goes the full distance across the fuse, (I can now use 1/4x20 nylon bolts, also from Nome Depot)
The recever is in the tail sectoin just behind the wing, I ran a 18" extention from the RX to the front of the plane and used a "Y" adaptor to plug in my throtle servo and battery pack
Under the service hatch. I installed a ply platform where I have put the fuel fill location and the power switches for both RX and Engine.
Both top and bottom of the wings are sheeted in 3/32 bulsa.
I used 1/2" SQ ply for the Landing gear rails, beefing up the wing ribs on both side of the L.G.
the paint job is done with "Createx" Airbursh paints. when that has dried I put on one coat of Dupli colour clear coat.
With the plane done with out the engine, I am weighing in at 6 LBs even. The DLE20 is 1.5 LBS, so I will be comming in close to the 8 pound range with the Engine battery pack and engine mount installed.
Too bad it is about to snow soon. will have to give an update in the spring when I can fly agian...
