Hi Guys,

We are now receiving our planes from Fly Eagle, but we found that their shipping box is too flimsy to go by UPS when they arrive at the USA. We know how UPS deliver our planes. It would be a nightmare to deal with. The F-15 box is also over sized for reasonable ground shipping cost within the Gerth.

One of my company's container is going out in a couple of days. I will load up these planes in the original FE boxes to the container for our local California Pick up. However, for the East Coast guys, I really feel the need to make a new shipping box for each one of them. I had told them to hold off the delivery until they repack the planes properly. Here are some photos of the damages from one plane delivered to Europe for our club member there by UPS AIR directly from FE factory. I will talk to my crew and ask them to come up with better packaging. FE is great in service and agreed to replace the products, but it's just a hassle to deal with the exchanges.

Hi Mike, Glad to see that FEJ is standing by their products. Their f-16 looks like its going to be a big hit. is the "ace in the hole" coming over in this shipment?

UPS ??? What happened to DHL?

They had a much better track record with the early planes that were shipped by DHL. None of these shipping companies are very good, but UPS is the worst. Upgrading the packaging is the right thing to do, however they (you) should also use a company capable of handling them properly. Any savings realized by using UPS will be eaten up by resending all the broken parts.

joe, mine was delivered by DHL and still came with some frames broken but as the fej man said this was mainly due to the fact that they fill the internal of the a/c with bits and pieces and with a slight movement they hit the frames.although mine passed from 5 different airports before arriving to cyprus i must admit DHL delivered it in 5 days and in much better condition than those of ups.

Hi Rich,

The "Ace in the hole" is customized from JL F16, so it's going to be a lot more scale looking.

by the way, could you let me take it to California Jet to show off before shipping it to you? I promised some of my friends to show off my ride that now belonging to you. The California Jet is in April 3 to 6. It will arrive on the 2nd.

Seems a great shame that these lovely models are getting damaged. I am waiting for my Rafelle and will be very disappointed if it also is damaged. I have sent FEJ and e mail asking them to improve their boxes and pack better. After waiting all this time dont want a sad face when that box is opened. cant make sense to send out new parts all the time as these also could of course get damaged. Loads of bubble wrap inside and out and a stronger box is surely the answer.

Perhaps they could also send a pot or two of touchup paint from the original spraying batch so that we could repair any small dings.

My Tiger Meet F-16 arrived today in great shape. Although not having to travel that far from China to Australia.
I am well pleased with the overall quality and the extra $100 I paid to get the Gears and Doors installed well worth the money. I was under some impression that they also hinged the flight surfaces but they didn't. Not a problem but it would be nice if they offer that service too.
From my initial impressions, I think i will be ordering thier F-18 when it arrives. I hope they offer the Jolly Rojer scheme.

max nitro i think that when they say about the hinging of control surfaces they mean that they drill the holes at the correct distance as per their schematic in f16 instructions
and are ready for you, just to glue the hinges in....what you didnt mention is if they install the tanks as this is included in the price.read my previous post for info.

The Fuel Tanks are 'placed' in the fuse but the klunk and stoppers were not installed, I don't think this is a big deal. I am not exactly sure what is mean by fuel tanks 'installed' I guess they mean they were placed in the correct position.?

Contacted with FEJ on an unpainted F-16 and the 'Big' F-18 kit.

Received a very quick reply from them stating they would knock off 50 bucks for the unpainted version but prefer to sell them painted and that they even had a new colour scheme coming an Israeli air force scheme, they would be uploading pictures soon.

They mentioned that the F-18 is still on schedule for the end of March or early April, they know people are waiting for pictures and would be uploading soon, they had not finished the pricing yet but stated it would be following the current FEJ model pricing and that people will be very happy with it, don't know about you lads but I am chewing my fingers waiting for this kit

Hi Guys,

I am going to visit them again next week. Let me know what you want so I can cherry pick again. It's like a kid walking into a candy store every time I am there.

Hi Mike, do you think you could find out for me where these parts for the Rafale go after you glue them together?
Thanks

Hi Jeremy

It has been great fun making the Rafale with the minimum of pictures and instructions! I am nearing the end of mine now. I think that this part must be screwed to the former that holds the tank. It will pin the tank down onto the recess and form a bridge over the top of the tank. It will leave a flat area perhaps for the pump or the LED I/O board.

If you have not tried yet have a go at fitting the nose leg steering. It is super neat, but I couldn't find a way of fitting the ball links. My fingers must be too fat and not long enough! In the end I gave up and made up links from wire with swivel locking screws. This at least gives an easily adjustable link that can be assembled and locked from above.

I was wondering when the first posts on fitting out the Rafale would appear. I am very pleased with the kit, the quality is as good as I have seen from any maker. I have not deviated much from the supplied parts. I have tested all the rams and U/C legs and did find a very small leak in 2 of the rams. I will try and remedy with silcone oil/grease. I will post a note when it is finished with the completed weight.

John

Got my F-15 camo today! Two thumbs up for the TBM crew, took my order a couple of weeks ago did not charge me until the delivered the jet. Bill at TBM called this Monday and advised that F-15 had arrived at his location, charged me and my jet is in my home. I took a quick look at a wing and looks excellent! $1300.00 shipped to my door, all built ready to drop P-120 and go! I recommend TBM to anyone, this outfit is A ok!

Damn... I ordered mine in December, paid $1500 shipped, and still have not recieved my F-15 [&o]

I did pay the extra $100 for the extra parts to be installed...but still

Hi Dennis

I have bought a P60SE for it. A Wren 54 would be fine as an engine. It is possible that a 44 would power it, but I am not sure what power losses there will with the bifurcated pipe. Yes be nice to fly together when you have yours completed. When you get yours and if have any questions just PM me and I should be able to help. It is quite simple though and you should not have any problems. I think it is the nicest kit I have bought so far, you will not be disappointed.

Hi John, thanks for the reply, my kit was missing a few parts with FEJ has sent out (have not received yet but they were just sent out).
I was missing the rudder servo hatch, the ply rings that go in the tail cones to hold the pipe, and I didn't get any parts for the gear door cylinder mount. The small ply pieces they show glued to the doors that the ball screws onto, easy to make though so no big deal
I've got my main gear doors on, surfaces hinged and glued, and elevon servo mounts installed (really nice idea on how those go in too!)
I'll do a little more work tonight, if possible, can you give me some pictures on how your air valves are hooked up? How does the actuation work between the doors and the gear? Is there a switch that actuates it with servo slow? do you need a sequencer?
Thanks!
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy

I am waiting for an Orbit electronic valve to arrive for the retracts. I have also ordered an Orbit Y lead type sequencer. It is very inexpensive and sets a delay of 7 seconds or so. The retract valves are on one lead of the sequencer and the other will have a pair of Jet A1 electronic valves that I happen to have. I will use the Jet A1 brake valve for the brakes. I will have 3 tanks with separate circuits and feeds.

The Orbit web site is:-
http://www.orbitronic.de/

Arno Hausmann is a guy who I have known for 10 years. I am not aware that there is a North American dealer so you may have to order direct.

By the way my plane was also missing the exhaust rings but I did not want to bother the factory and knocked some up myself in a few minutes.

Jeremy,

You don't need a sequencer if you have a radio with servo slow and a spare channel.

I had a Jomar electronic sequencer that I was planning on using. So with the supplied air valves I set up one servo and one air valve each for gear and for doors. After hooking everything up I discovered that when the gear is down and I turned on the radio, the servos would jump to the up position then back to the down position. So I nixed the sequencer.

My solution was to mix an aux. channel (for doors) to the gear channel, then use the servo slow feature of my 9303 to sequence them. Now with gears down and doors open when I hit the up switch the gear servo moves at normal speed to retract the gear. The door servo slowly moves to the closed position allowing the gear to be tucked away before the doors close. When I select the gear down position the door servo moves at normal speed to immediately open the doors and the gear servo slowly moves to the down position. Works great.

Of course there are also other ways to do it; with a button valve to control the doors, or a UP-3 valve. The above allowed me to use what I had without buying anything extra.

I am very impressed with them, they respond very quickly to questions and problems, which is something Skymaster seem to be having an issue with, I sent Anton a message using ALL his e-mails and no response from them, but I know he is about as I saw him pop on RCU yesterday and was even on this thread (pilot tw) but he is not following up on our postings etc.

So for me, my business goes to those that want it! FEJ seems to be making a good product at an unbeatable price, and want to help their customer to have a good purchase so as soon as the F-18 comes along, I know where my money will be going, but thanks to you lads that took the chance on this new company and let us all know how it worked out, I am sure FEJ would be thanking you as well if they posted on here.
