Woops your right. I ordered the 1 inch rams from air power which is close to 25 mm not 10mm as I posted. All I did was simply measure the stroke of the existing rams on the FEJ F16.
If need you can still adjust with collars or stoppers to fine tune the travel. I just hope the diff hole size can be easily fixed which I am sure can be.
Vince, you may struggle with 10mm troke!

a longer stroke isn't a problem, the cylinder is NOT attached to the hinge so as long as you set it so that when it's fully extended there isn't any pressure on the hinge the extra length will be on the closed end where the pressure is applied to the lip of the door and the former holding the ball point, you don't have to use a stop with this setup as it will not brake the hinge.

Quick question, as the pics on Eagle jet site don't seem too clear, for anyone who has built the F16.
Do the elevator LE line up with the wing TE when the elevators are at neutral. I am just about to glue the 2 air brakes brakes in position but need to ensure they are lined up in the right position.
Eagle jets pics show them straight with a ruler across the top edge and what looks likes centered with the fuse? this leaves some nasty gaps at the bottom of the joint between fuse and airbrakes
As always any help really appreciated
Rgds

Lee, On the two I have built I use a piece of angle aluiminum and clamp it to the plane. I just did this last night on my latest plane and took photos. I left my camers at home today but will post pics tonight on how I did it. It is straight with the top and the side just like the Fly Eagle Pictures.

My F-16 is nearly ready.
What are you doing about the CG of the F-16?
It seems that everyone is flying with 140mm and they are saying that is spot on.
I am worried because the manual says 145 to 155mm, more tail heavy.
How you are measuring the CG? I mean, dry, wet, UAT tank with fuel, gear down or up?
Regards
Vince

My f-16 flew on Saturday, the C of G is 140mm back from the leading edge, do this with no fuel in tanks, UAT full, have the gear down When mine flew I only needed to add slight trim to the elevators and right aileron. Beautiful to fly very solid in the gear.
The C of G is fine, what is the engine size?

Todd,
Well done. Was that the maiden? What turbine is in yours?
Quick question am getting there but have door ram issues and air power sent me the wromg size 1 1/4" stroke not 1" like I ordered. Anyway 140mm I presume is measured from where the wing meets the fuzz at L/E is that correct?
Cheers,
Chris

I got the same air power rams which was my fault not theirs. Nice solid well made rams though don't you think. Have you ordered the 1" ones instead if so let me know if they fit well without having to drill more holes. If i got to drill more holes i may as well stay with the 1 1/4 throw and see if i can get thim in ok.

Rob,
Great looking Rams. I guess like you I could drill more holes and try and make them fit, however I doubt you can do that with the nose wheel, its just not deep enough to take the extra length, so still back to square one. Are you going to order more or try and fit the larger ones???

Going to wait until someone else tells me they fit ok my existing rams still seem to be holding air ok after i left them over night full of the thin silicone but i am going to change them as i don't want any issues arising and belly landing as i fly off grass and i think the plane would just Disintegrate . was hoping you would get some and let me know lol.

The 16 had its maiden on sat, I to have an 80 so to answer peoples questions on balance yes 140 back from the wing leading edge is fine, now the door rams you need are 1" rams these open and close the doors fine you have plenty of clearance for gear leg sequence.
Peter from Intairco supplied me with these rams and they are perfect if any body has issues I can get these for you.
For ailerons I have found that 10 mm up and down is plenty, not 15 mm
With the tanks in my 16, only 2 main tanks, you can get 5 mins with an 80 this is doing 2 high speed passes at full throttle and general flying at 60% On landing we checked the tanks and had about 500mil left.
hope this answers some peoples questions.
Regards

Congrats Todd!
I am just about finished my build FE F16. I know this has been asked before, but a recent opinion would be good. What gap for the tail pipe to Bell mouth? I am using a Jet Central Falcon 100 turbine.

1 inch got it! Thanks guys. One last dumb question and I should be on my way. Which way does the UAT sit in the Fuzz. Screw cap to the nose or tail? I have worked out you are supposed to sit it at 45 degrees angle so it kind of pops up through your radio tray!
Cheers,
Mav

Mav,
The UAT is setup such that it has a straight shot to the fuel pump and your third tank, mine is sitting at ~45 Deg pointing toward the back end of the plane .

Mike

Got it! UAT Screw cap to the tail at 45 degrees, this then points direct to the turbine. The reason I ask is I have seen pics of UAT's facing the nose!!!!!!!!!!

just to let you know i bought the 1" air power rams and they look like a perfect fit. The fixing screw is a smaller diamiter than the existing fittings but have put a small metal tube into the existing hole and used a screw threaded servo link if you know what i mean inside that hole. have got to get some locking nuts that fit the thread today so that i can fix them in properly so will let you know when i have done it. Just to let you know please do this before you put in the turbine and fuel tanks etc as it took me an hour just to get one of the old fixing points out because i can't get my hand in through the front wheel well to unscrew the existing fittings aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Mav, you measure the throw from the wingtip end, some people may differ there methods Ive never had any dramas with what I do.
I was extremely happy with the way it flew, rock solid in the air, just make sure your c of g is spot on also regards your hopper tank as stated does not matter what way it goes I have mine facing the front and it works fine.
Regards
Todd
