right, it looks like the hyper st and 8.5 share a lot of parts. i have the st on the way, maybe monday or wednesday build will start, and i'm also converting my hyper 7 pbs into an 8.5, already have the arms on, i have the radio tray and wing mount aside, just need chassis, bulkheads and towers. saves a lot over buying the kit too.

Hey,
Ive hit the next problem now! The holes for the shaft to connect the rear lower arms to the gear box dont line up. Ive checked and re-checked against the manual but I cant see that ive done any thing wrong.

Has anyone else had this problem? Or can see what ive done wrong?

Cheers

YIKES! I have to believe that's the wrong suspension mount block you have mounted in the front (plastic part). Have you checked it against the other diffs, like maybe the rear? Just maybe you have the wrong suspension mount block there.

Keep us posted!

well yeah, other bodies fit but the hyper body is unique. i'm sure the jconcepts hyper st body would be like nothing we have ever seen.

The Hyper ST Pro body is actually growing OFF me... I'm starting to not like it.. My fave truggy bodies are the JConcepts Illuzion for Mugen or CRT, the CP2.0 for Mugen, or the Losi 8T RR bod or the Jconcepts 8T - don't think they fit though... My next bod is gonna be one of the new Proline Quicklidz CP2.0 for Mugen, color yet to be determined.. Gonna look good though.......

What's the verdict on the ST Pro pipe?? Is it a keeper or what? Mine's just sitting there - wondering if I should sell it...

Second question(s): how important are the shock condom thingies?? Two of mine ripped during assembly... Also kind of think all my shocks are leaking..

When I first assembled them - all with 60wt oil - the rear felt way to stiff, and the front if anything too soft(at least compared to the bashing set-ups I'm used to.. For racing maybe just right??).. Anyway, maybe I had them too full and just the excess leaked out?? It sits pretty squat now, and feels overall softer than what I'm used to for bashing, but not too soft.. I had a Lightning GT with 60wt, and it felt much firmer than my HST does now... I tried a thick spacer on each shock, and that felt just right...

Should that be right - 60 wt in all shocks with one spacer for a nice firm setup, without the spacer for racing???

they do fall apart easy. i cut mine about 1/2 way and use a small zip tie on the bottom end. it makes a nice tight seal around the shaft and slides as necessary. you want them on there to keep crud off the oring that seals the shock from the bottom. without them you'll be leaking pretty soon.

I've also got shock socks on now... But still, the truck at this point has never been outside, and as far as I can tell the shocks are all leaking...

Patrick - How did you sort it out?

Still cant see what ive done wrong. The plastic suspension mount block is the only one like it in the kit, and the rear one is exactly the same shape and size as the rear one so cant be wrong. Can someone please compare the photos to their ST to see if you see any differences?

Thanks and Happy Christmas!

Mine is the same way. Here are some pics. You can see that the shaft is at an angle and not straight. That is the way it goes.

just bend the rear arm mount a bit or drill the whole a it bigger. try installing it with the arm in place, should be easier then.

Anybody know if a center diff from a hyper 8 or 8.5 buggy will fit the ST-PRO? I get a little push on mine and was told that I could not get rid of that and it was because of the center spider diff being run on clay and not grass and stuff like in europe.

Hyper 7, 8, 8.5 center diff will work. Just have to use the larger ST spur gear.

Cool now if I can find one cheap. Someone on ebay was asking 80.00 for one! That's crazy.
