1 This shows full flap deflection on the inboard and outboard flap. Now this looks like a Hellcat wing. If you would like to do this to yours , I can give you the measurements.

Hi Guys,
I have run into some financial problems and I will have to sell this Hellcat. If anybody is interested, I'll finish the mods on both wings and give you a great price on it. Also have a new set of CJ 90 degree retracts that will go with it. Total value is $500 I will sell shipped to you for$375. The rest of the plane is still in it's protective covering.
Thanks,
Fred

Check6, I'm very interested in your cat. I sent e-mail today. I forgot to ask you if the retracts are a complete setup ? i.e tank(s) lines,valve,ect...

Thanks, Matt

Any one who used the GSP Warbird Pilot for this plane...

What did you use to secure the pilot in the cockpit. I received mine the other day, and I noticed it had a felt bottom. Usually I use epoxy/Goop/RC56 glue and it holds without incident. But I'm concerned with the pourous nature of the bottom.

Epoxy or Zap-A-Dap-A-Goo should work fine.

Thanks Richard... that was quick.

Also, with regard to the Retracts... when the gear are extended, does the pointed or open part of the scissor strut face forward

Back of Airplane > or < Front of Airplane

I've seen it both ways. I've purchased the CJ's.

Perhaps a picture of the full size will answer your question. You can see the scissors in the pictures below:

It's my pleasure. I didn't want to answer your second question directly because I could be wrong, and pictures don't usually lie So I decided to let you see the scissor links for yourself. As you can see, they face forward. However, on other planes with rotating retracts, such as the Corsair and the P-40, they do face back toward the rear.

I took the plunge and got my CMP Hellcat the other day. I ordered Robart retracts but they're going back, no way I'm butchering up the wing enpough to get them mounted. Plus the realization sunk in that CJ retracts are going to be cheaper than putting the robarts in with struts. Oh well.

I'm planning on a Magnum 120 for power, anybody got any run times on the stock tank with a 120 4 stroker? I really don't want to cut up the frames to mount a larger tank.

Still haven't made up my mind about a paint scheme, I.E, which carrier it should be off. Another option is doing it in the Blues paint scheme, that would be different and rather unique.

Should have some pics in a month or so, going to really try and take my time with this one.

The stock tank should give you at least 12 minutes of flight time with a 120 four stroke.

Thanks Richard. I'm flying a Magnum 91 in a Model Tech P-47 and it's been just great. One would probablly fly the Hellcat, but the two Zeros that fly at my field are pretty fast, and I'm sure not gonna be slower than they are!

Saw a bunch of these getting auctioned on *bay. I picked one up for $127. WHAT A DEAL! Packing was very good. Covering is outstanding. Instructions and assembly were easy.

Installed a Magnum 120, put a 1400ma battery at the CG point and it balanced perfectly without any added weight. I shot a thin layer of minwax polyurethane on the paint due to some complaints I read about the paint here.

I'm sticking with fixed gear because I love touch and goes and fly a lot when I get to the field. Too much maintenance and the gear would cost more than twice as much as the plane.

The plane weighs 12lb minus fuel. The 120 gets it off the ground in a hurry. Flys very nicely, predictable and is stable. It's not terribly fast with a 16x6 prop, but fast enough for more than scale speed. I have max recommended throws on everything. The flaps are very effective at 35mm movement and slow the plane significantly. Very easy landing plane for a war-bird. Cleaned up nicely after a 1/2 gallon of fuel ran though it sunday.

I would highly recommend this as a first war-bird.

For those of you that put the GSP WWII pilot bust in this plane (~$11.99), I've noticed that the pilot is about 3/4 inch too tall for the canopy. Did anyone have the same issue, and if so what did you use to cut the bust down to get a nice smooth level cut.

I just used a marker to draw a line around the whole bust, then used a fine hacksaw to cut the bust down. I then used an x-acto knife to slightly trim the bust to eliminate any gaps between it and the mounting surface.

Shipping was $35. Saw a few from the same seller go for a little less. Even at $199 + shipping it's a great deal.

Anybody else notice that the supplied 40MM bolts (to secure the engine mount to the firewall) aren't long enough to protrude through to the inside of the firewall to secure the blind nuts?
