Thanks for your reply, Dave.
I have decided on the OS FX 1.60 for my CMP Bf109F, with the Slimline inverted muffler.
I wonder what servos would be suitable. The control surfaces are not that big on this plane. I have Hitec 325, 475 and 645 available. The 645s are noticeably heavier than the smaller ones. In my opinion the aileron, rudder and elevator servos should be the strongest ones. Does this make sense?
Helge.

I decided on the OS 120 AX with Slimline inverted muffler. 2 Digital Futaba S3152 on the ailerons, Futaba S3010 on the other surfaces. 2 Futaba S3004 on the throttle and the retract switch. Any idea whar battery I should use? Leaning towards 4000 Mah NiHm.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
For those interested. We have 3 sets of the CMP ME-109 Retract Ready to go.
Retail price is $230.00 for the retracts and Oleo Struts.
These are made to fit the wings with only minor modifications.
We sent a couple of sets out for those who already had theirs on order.
We have to make more parts for the next batch which may take a few weeks
so don't be the 4th order.
Thanks,
Darrell

Hello Darrell:
Will you please explain ther "minor modifications" required to mount the retracts in the CMP BF-109.
Thanks,

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Just thought I'd show another little scale mod I made. I took some plastic tube from the Hobby shop and chucked it up in my drill press. Using an Xacto knife and some sandpaper I made myself some scale guns. Here is a photo of the tubes before, and after installation. I used some gunmetal paint to finish them off (not even dry when the photo was taken).

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Two questions for those who know..... 1 how the heck are you storing the fuselage in your garage? I have a full house of planes and are trying to find some room, 2 Installing the plastic wheel wells, I have a horrible feeling I have mucked it up.... I have cut the covering off to follow the holes for the wheels and retracts now I need to install the plastic..... how did you do yours? I feel that perhaps I should have left a lip of covering to tuck into the wheel well to line them up

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Hello guys,
What should be the minimal force of the sevo's. It is not in my manual.
I noticed that the control surfaces are not very large. I want to use Futaba S3152 digital on the ailerons. They have 69 -4.8 v and 87 - 6V. For the other surfaces Futaba S 3010. They have 72 -4.8 v and 90 - 6V. For the throttle and the gear switch, I'll use the S3004.
Since there will be 10 servo's, how big a battery will I need?
Regards,
Eric Schumacher, Netherlands.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Sorry, another question from this big warbird newbe.
Can I simply connect 10 servo's to my futaba 9 channel PCM receiver? I use 2 Futaba 3152, 6 futaba S3010 and 2 Futaba S3004. How do you guys connect all your servo's. Are there any special measures to be taken?

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Schummie, a 2000 mah battery would be plenty. I use NiMh cells and have had excellent results.
Since you are using a 9 channel PCM receiver I assume you have a Futaba 9C or more. I will use y-cords on some of the servos to provide what I need. I plan to use normal channels for Elevator, Rudder, Throttle, and retracts. I will use channels 1 and 6 for the two aileron servos. I will Y-cord the flaps together and also use a Y cord on the air brakes and plug them into seperate channels. I will then program them to follow each other on the variable knob I always use for flaps. This will allow for seperate adjustment if I need more or less brakes/flaps. That makes 8 channels. On a 9C if I remember right channel 9 is not mixable, and in my case I will not use it.

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
A 2000mah battery is fine if you dont mind charging the rx battery in the plane at the field after 2 flights or so. With 10 servos, some of them digital, they are pulling a good deal of juice. If any of them(and usually more then one) start chattering, they start consuming even more. I dont think you want to risk a nice $1000+ airplane to a brown out shutdown of the rx due to the voltage dropping below the rx's failsafe level.
yes a 2000 will work, but how many planes has anyone flown with 10 servos in it and been able to fly more then twice before the rx battery voltage gets dangerously low.
I have the H9 1.50 P-51 and it also has 10 servos. I run a 6v 2700mah battery in that one and can safely fly 4 flights in a day without charging. Anymore then that, and the little charging chack with the led lights goes to yellow instead of green.
My advise, why risk a high value plane over a difference of maybe $10 for a battery size.

Hello Kahloq:
Thanks for the response. A little bit of sanding to make the Sierra's fit is certainly not too challenging.

I'll use a 4000 Mah battery. But do you connect all the servo's directly to the receiver? I mean, can the receiver handle all the amps. Further I hear that using 6v would have a negative effect on the servo's. What's your experience with that?

Eric Schumacher, Netherlands

RE: CMP BF109F BUILDING THREAD
Yes you can connect all the servos to the rx. Some servos do not like 6volts, but those are generally low end servos like the Jr Sport ST47's and the Futaba 3004's.
In my H9 1.50 p-51, I'm using mostly Jr DS821's. They are digital servos and have very nice torque for the price($29) and have no problems with 6v. Most Hitec servos are happy on 6v as well. If you have servos that chatter on 6v, then you can install a voltage regulator to lessen the voltage reaching the rx, but shouldnt be needed unless using low dollar servos.
