The only stock E-Maxx esc that is rated for anything over 16.8V is the 3908 E-Maxx with a Castle setup. You'll be fine with the 2 (2S) but if you try to step up to 2 (3S) (25.2V) with a stock 3906...

You'll need to run 2 of them to get the 22.2V. 11.1V per lipo.

Yea, it is pretty hard for me to pull them apart. I don't have monster hands or a weak grip but there's not really anything to grip onto. They are small plugs and some people like them, that's fine....
