You were just too subtle with that first pic! Thought the wing graphics looked iffy but didn't get it till you had to shout it out.[sm=spinnyeyes.gif] Will be most interested in it though.
Archie, yes a YS 63 would be yummy wouldn't it but I am getting the plane with "the family" thinking I would just need a few odds and ends to finish it off using all existing gear. Dunno if I could convince them a YS is just odds and ends!LOL

You wont know how hard to keep it Q it was
I'm gonna do the thrust line anway because im sure it was there with the other wing, wasn't in the past. i think my batt can move forwards some more, and i had been considering a 6V one anyway ( if i can find a hydride 1850 cell to match mine, great, then i'll make up the 6v pack. )
my standard wing isn't that extreme CofG wise, might make a little box on the firewall, so i can slip some lead in the nose when changing the wing. but for now i'm kinda liking the responce. more flight testing will tell.
Ta for being the Guinea pig
So you didn't notice it on that pic.. did you notice it a few posts before? 4 flying shots, one of them was the FF wing.

spent most of the night working out an extended IH price list.. stopped to watch that wally Blaine, waste of time that was, and finishing up now....
Then I just gotta sort out my trusty webmaster !
110s arrived the other day plus hattori stuff... yummy yummy.... I reckon the 110 would be interesting in the 140ex actually...

You serious about a 110 in the 140ex????
I was thinking more Dingo, just a bit nervous that this engine is going to cause me problems, heard storys of it cracking 2M composite fuz's because it kicks so hard[>:]

Was CPLR talking about the 140 or the new 160? I had heard that is very smooth, replacing supercharging with cc.
Anyway what do I know, I'm unlikely to get either.

Simon yes I am serious...
If you had a 110 and nothing else the model will work... you will need to take cg into consideration at the start but it would easily be more power to weight.
Not as good as 140 of course, but then did we expect the C50 to go so well on a West 36... not really !

wish Cartman would get his finger out of his ***** and get his Capiche going, a while ago it was standard servos and Irvine 53 till he gets the West 36 sorted out, that was weeks ago.
Steve just needs to cover his now, he told me couple of weeks maybe, IS PROFILM THAT HARD!
Mark has moved his aerial away from the carbon elevator pushrod and now doesn't get interferance. Wonder if he remembers how to balsa bash, long time since he had a kit, all been ARTF or SH lately lol
Not much wind here today... i might get out for a better test.

Arch, what weight are the 140ex's coming out at?
The Dingo problem apparently is a starting thing, if you flood it it kicks like a mule.
But thats easily solved......dont flood it.

a friend here put a Moki 130, 120? i dunno, sommit big on his Team Special, when idling the virbation was mental. but if he turned the idle up i doubt it would land, the short shaft meant he couldn't try many props either.
kinda make you wonder whats the point in that engine? eps if you can only bolt on a couple of diffrent props. was a longer shaft impossible?

I am looking into Mokis... they seem quite popular as an ecomony solution, and we have on in operation here which seems to run quite well.
More new on that in the future. Another economy option I see is the new G23 from ST.
Simon...
It should be possible to hit 9.5lbs !
The one Ali is flying is a couple of years old now, and it has had a few repairs (not so you would notice though). It also has the metal servos etc and Hyde mount which aint light. The flying surface son the new one are lighter too I believe. Anyway this one currently resides at 10.25lbs... at the heavy end as I say.
I believe the EP C140ex is 9.75lbs, fully laiden.
If the cg can be tackled without additional weight then I believe it should be possible to get a FZ110 powered C140ex under 9lbs. Sure it would not be quite the animal it would be with a 140DZ but it would be viable.

the problem I see with the moki135 and probably the ST is silencing. My moki135 on a bcm pitts silencer is considered too noisy for my field with a standard 82db limit. I havnt measured it but I am confident its over 82db. You can buy an Aviation Alloys silencer from Just Engines which gets the noise down to a legal limit, but the silencer is massive and I doubt it would wont fit in the cowl.
Maybe if youre going down the big 2 stroke route with the Capiche 140 a pipe is the answer. Can you get throttle pipes for engines that size ?

The cowl on the 140 is pretty big, it is still based around the Cap. If the AA silencers can fit in a 68" Glens cap, they can fit in a 140 no probs.
Weston do mini and throttle pipes for larger engines so that is also an option.

i think if you asked Weston for a pipe to fit X, they would do it. the West 50 capiche pipe is unique after all. any other engine gets the throttle pipe, West engines like mini pipes.
if theres a failry popular choice for the 140 that needs a pipe, i can see there being one.
isn't there meant to be a large West engine too soon?

no suck think as a torque pint either.
either go with a throttle pipe hanging out in the breeze ( like mine ) or with a shorted header lenght you would be able to build a seperate area in the bottom of the fuz to hide the pipe from view.
but for me thats too much work when having the pipe outside is so easy and doesn't look wrong.
Ian with a 140...

(sorry couldn't resist that one
)Don't think I would go for the 110 in the C140, needs more if you ask me. I keep thinking if I would need a bigger engine than my YS120. Fortunately the 120 and the 140s all share the same mounting bolt holes, so I can change afterwards if needed.
Doesn't look like much more work tonight on my C50 - I'm still in the office
. Managed to stick on the ailerons last night, all looking good on that front.

Ian im one of the few that have not had the good fortune to meet you but your avitar pretty much sums up what I might expect ! good choice!
Sprink and others...
When I say the 110 would suit the 140ex, I mean it would do the job... as would the 120. This is a light aeroplane remember.
Now if you have the engine, funds, or skills to warrant the YS 140 then Ab So Blinkin Lutely.... get it in there !
Trust me, with the 140 and a 17x8, most of your flight will be at half stick and below... unless your an animal on the sticks of course.
When I flew the 140 Ali now has, I found the power was only being used for extreme 3D stuff, even torque rolls are done at just above half !
gotta go
