Looking good Phil.
How many spare spaces in the best dressed Capiche comp left Archie? Mine should be ready for photos within a week or so.

I had a load of 3010s in and they look good, theyve all been sold now though so Im waiting for more... that will be my choice for this one.
If you can still get hold of them I recommend 9404s as an alternative albeit a bit more pricey... 5.8kg or thereabout and very quick.
Otherwise go the full hog and use 9402s
anyways... finger crossed my old 63 gives up some power tomorrow... feels a bit rough !
never mind.... more on the way !

how much are they?
seeing HS311's at Alis 4 for 23quid cheered me up, even tho 300 series servos suck, the 22's wern't much more tho..
nothing with 5kg till you spend again tho.
i strayed from Futaba servos before, they failed, i get JR, they suck and do that slowly too lol dare i stray again?
maybe one day when i'm rich, and by then we'll move surfaces with lasers and have so much power if we missuse them we'll move the clubhouse by accident

WOW
I had forgotton jjust how good those YS 63s are...
First flight ballistic... almost, dare I say it, too much power.
For the second flight I set a throttle curve to smooth out the power gain in the lower half of the stick... better, but I need to get used to this model again.... its been tranformed from a steady pleasant 3D aero plane into a 3D hot dog !

All things equal!!! YS prefered
Why do you think the OS 70 surpass model was heavy?? yours is now 5lbs+ and the OS is a good 3ozs heavier.
Bet it will go on the surpass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet that could chug a 14" x6" apc

its a shame that the hub and blade on the APC 14x6 is such a step up from the 13x6 else I think it would suit the YS better... I might try a narrow 14x5... thats a lot slimmer and smaller hub.... I have got shed loads of forward speed with the YS / 13x6 set up... almost more than I need really.
I also think that when using a power house like this on the C50 there might be need for an additional tad of right thrust over what is already built in.... it depends what prop you use..

you can then pick your fave for the comp Archie ( easier than sending all these images via mail at full size
) ( i still have full size orginials of all of them btw )
ok, got them working, all different sizes n stuff thumbnailed to make it quick. heres a taster of the small images
DOH! forgot the link now... www.philsrcworld2.fsnet.co.uk/capichepics.htm ( it's not yet linked in the main site )

Thanks.
the canopy is simply done in a Tamiya acrylic paint, thought it was pollycarb paint.. umm will have to see if it stays, anyway it's Nato Black which is a very dark slate grey, looks better than black. just two coats.
very pleased with how it transforms the look. makes it much easier to see too

Alright folks! Just putting my order in for the plane & a few extras now.
Getting back to servo options have have you guys tried the hitec 605's before?I had one on the huge rudder of my goldberg sukhoi & it was excellent.Seemed even quicker than the specs suggest and loads of power. The only figures I can find are once/inches but converting them comes out at about 5.5kg (4.8v) & 6.5 on 6v! Seen them for £20 as well...
Your plane looks excellent Philly.I alway tint my canopies with tamiya acrylic smoke from inside so you can get the shade you want. That stuff seems impervious to fuel.
Archie, incidentaly it was Philly,s web site that first got me into the C50.
Still can,t decide between the heavy lazer 80 or the Rossi though.[sm=confused.gif]Thinking towards the lazer but dont want to turn it into an overweight thing!

glad to see my site is doing it's job.i've got a moan on tho.. broke my spats again on a perfect landing on the short grass
not enough bandage on the join line ( not sure there even is any ) and they shouldn't be cut so low.. infact i don't see why they come cut at all, surely it's upto the builder how low he wants them for the price i expected something i could use more than just a few times. not only are they split down the center, but they've started to split around the washer that holds them in place. They have one more chance after i put some of my cotton bandage and epoxy in there to give them the right amount of strenght.
On the plus side, i think a guy here is sold on one after today's rough wind handling ( only me flying in the end ), so that'll be four here when Cartman and Steve get their ass's in gear.
heres some pics from today's very windy session

I use a hitec 605 on 4.8 volts on the capiche rudder. To me it seems slow. It also has a fair bit of slop and its centering is poor. Cheap and cheerfull. Personally if I build another Capiche (very likely) I put the best servos I can afford on it, the plane deserves them.

Archie....no Capiche has grown on me and I love the big'un.
Just seem to be getting my work e-mail flodded by this thread even though I've changed the preferences.
Good to see the interest growing in the US.

OK, 3 flights on the Capiche which were all thoroughly enjoyable. The heli only got 1 flight so this may just convert me back yet. The engine was producing over 10K rpm on a 13x6 which seemed plenty of power with what I have tried so far.
All normal aerobatics were done with ease and in the strong wind I thought it handled them with ease.
Knife edge is nearly neutral even at until the absolute extremes, just a touch of down needed, so moving CofG back should help this - knife edge loop with relative ease, and I almost managed a 540degree stall turn.
Hovering and torque rolls I only did up high, due to needing to sort my engine out a bit more, but it was climbing on 1/3 to 1/2 throttle and it was hard to stop it climbing so I will have to put a throttle curve in I think.
Walls and waterfalls were great but when I tried a parachute and flip-flop type parachute (whatever that's called) it would only go to 45 degrees nose down so I am hoping moving the CofG should help improve this.
All types of flicks and spins were tryed with some really interesting results. The stationary or possibly slightly climbing inverted flat spin was good.
My favourite maneouvre so far with it though is knife edge to knife edge flicks done in circuit - no over-rotation and I hit straight back to knife edge each time.
I let a friend fly it aswell, and he seemed suitably impressed and was chucking it about as if he had been flying it for ages, right from takeoff. It is certainly a confidence inspiring plane and for it's size is very capable. After only 3 flights I am already comfortable with it and I can see that it has even more potential, with a few minor changes to my setup.
Can't wait to get out and fly it some more
Kevin
