Looks like I am following in the footsteps of Barry and 38 going from the UCD to the Showtime. It will be a while until I get the Showtime an engine though so I will have to continue to enjoy my UCD and my new Katana.

Man the weather just stinks this year. It's been very very wet and snowy. I've got a grand total of 9 flights this year. And most were in terrible wind. Last year by this time I had 40 or so. What a difference. Weather man is saying "in the sixties" by Friday. Maybe I can fly some then or on Saturday. Got a new "little" Mayhem to Maiden and try to tune in the Velox. And of course, I've got to get going on the UCDs. I haven't even flown them yet.I'm building a Giant UCD. Just getting started on it. I couldn't resist having them all. It looks huge.
Thanks,
Barry

Looks great Gary.... Let us know how it goes...
Rob.... I had one:-(.. I may fix it....
Well just ran 3 tks through the S82... She runs great with the higher carb!! Everything
checked out good... Well I think I used to much canopy glue... It'll take a while to dry
If the wind hold "down" I give her a try in the am..

gjeffers...Looks great with that biplane. I'm interested in how you think it flies. I've never flown a bipe but I do have interest in them. Please keep us up to date.
raideron...
Good luck with that new plane. Looks great.
Thanks,
Barry

ill find out soon Barry and let ya guys know, i hear there fun to fly and the only thing to watch out for is landing, they will slow down real fast with the large front end and two wings so ya have to keep a few clicks of throttle on till your just about on the ground, like i said ill let ya know soon

Wow, i see the list of who is on the forumn and it looks like most of the usual suspects are on here all a the same time. Barry, Gjeffers and Raideron all at once.
GJeffers the Bipe looks great!
I have a Golderg Ultimate Kit that was supposed to be my project two winters ago, then this winter has past also.

5lbs 2ozs ready to fly less fuel. Saito 82. 14x4W prop. 30% fuel. Should fly very well. Maybe even inverted.Hope to maiden it Saturday, if the snow melts by then.
Thanks
Barry
PS: Next is the Giant!
#4465
inverted is easy Barry, the gjeffers method requires you to stick the antenna between your legs and fly as normal
no problemo
nice mayhem, maybe you should fly normal for a while first
im tuning uup my controls right now on my pitts[&:]always funnnnn!!!!

Barry... She looks "Sweet" Is that the 40 size?? I need to get one of them... I sure
like the way the one at the field flies(the bigger one)... Was ya drinking.... Somethings
upside down(reason I don't know which one)..... I won't tell tho...
Dang you Barry..... My "Do's" Fat.. Needs to go on a diet..... :-(... With it fully dressed
HS 425bb's and HS 645MG on the rudder.. on 6v, T.T 2" spinner.. same engine setup,
tail wires, Oh yeah my "Do 3D" stickers:-) Ohh.. I just added 1/2oz to the nose.... (Man
I was a bit over 6" on the CG........ Something like 6 1/4-6 1/2)
.... I'm not telling........ 6.4 on my digital mailing scale... She's Porky.. But I luv her
))
But it's a first for me on GP pinned hinges and useing gorilla glue for all.... Ohh and
my clear covering top and bottom for the hinges...... OK.... She's FAT..... But when she
wrinkles... More places to............ Oh, wrong fourm............
Rob... The dot is what I have for now... I forgot to order a fueler, I do have one but
I'm starting to work on the showtime and it's for it... It was a bit of a hassle having to
close the needle valve this morning to fuel, I thought I could just have the throttle close
and it would be like the YS(same setup) does with no problem... But not so......
Well She flew good.... Only one flt. before the wind came up... I fly with full rates and
max throws even on maiden... I almost bit the dust this morning#&*(^... Just at lift off
the wind blew the wing a bit and I corrected... WoW talk about a jerky take-off... But she
made it:-)))))... Only did a bit after trimming, I hovered for a bit, tried a K.E. and a rolling
circle, and a couple 5' inverted passes... I had to show my " Do 3D" :-)) She was a bit
touchy... Flew inverted hands off, and it still climbs a bit... Just touch the stick and she floats
on landing.... Ohh it was a dead stick.... No, no problem with the S82.... I think I should have
used a 12oz tank:-((( It's a good thing I did not do another circuit like I was thinking.....
I have the CG at or a bit over 6"... Think I'm cutting that back a bit.....

Hi All,...I maidened the Mayhem 40 today at lunch. It's so light it is very powerful with the 82. But it seems to just dance around in the sky. Also, was very hard to hover. I liked the rolling circles, and waterfalls, although they take a lot of rudder to keep them straight.
I enjoyed the flying of it and the flat spins are super nice. (My favorite move) But I missed being able to hover. The UCD just hovers. Plain and simple. The Mayhem doesn't. Plane and simple. I'm gonna work on some more trims tomorrow and see if I can do better.
But, the big news...I'm ready to stop fooling around with this other stuff. I'm breaking out the UCD tomorrow. I've fought it as much as I can. Tomorrow I'm going with the "Do".
Thanks
Barry

Hey all, well I only have been getting a half a flt. ea. of the last two days:-(... Got two today,
even with the rich S-82, I got a really nice holding F.S also this "Do" holds a K.E. a bit better
than the last one, it still pulls, but seems to be less or I'm just use to it now???.....
But I have been getting glitches everynow and then:-(.... She range check at 100' engine on/off
and I already switched rec's with no change... Today I pulled the ant. wire from the bottom of
the fuse and taped it to the wing, thinking that maybe my "Diamond shape" tailwires may be
causing the problem???
Anyway no glitches... But it took me a while to go back up to try it and the wind came up...
Anyway since my wires are as far apart as possible, and leaving the ant on the wing is a no
go... I'm thinking of how to route the ant. so as it'll end at about the tail servos.... Or the one
I'm going to try for the morning... Wrapping the ant. wire on a stick of bulsa with no overlap
just after the wing.. Anyone try this??? I heard pro's and cons on this method??? But I guess it
"can" work???? I know the 5 channel hitec rec I got for the SPAD came with a Ant. wire
bobbin so that the ant. wire could be wrapped on it to shorten it....
Well guess I'll find out in the am if the wind is down....

Hey Rob.. Yeah, I like the fuel dots... plain and simple, and really no problems
to pop up... I moved my "T" closer to the tk. outlet with the outlet to the carb
pointing up and the stright shot from fill to tk.... It's working better now.. I think
on future tks I'll just use three fittings...
I may try your zig zag method... I already have the wire wrapped on a stick
lightly glued to the two bulkheads on the bottom just after the wing.... If I have
the same problem.... And with the thought that the "Do" makes it back home I'll
give that a try... It range checks good, but it was a bit windy to give the real test.

gjeffers...That is a great looking airplane! 3 bladed prop. Cool! I can't wait to hear your reports. I'll bet she's a thing of beauty. What's your weight?
Few my 60 today. I love that plane with the 110. I hadn't started the engine in 5 months but took right off with the regular routine and ran great and idled wonderfully. The plane is wonderful too. I just love flying these things. Wonderful waterfalls, excellent rolling circles and I hovered for several minutes at a time. Had a great day. Lands feather soft. Even did some fair KE with it. Got a couple of excellent rising flat spins. The 110 makes this plane do them as good as the 46.
Ya gotta love 'em.
Thanks

Oh, almost forgot. Got well into the Giant. Got one wing completely done. This plane is huge. I just hope the 160 is enough to fly it. Good 3D.
This airplane is gonna test my radio programming skills. It has flaps and ailerons. The challenge is to get them to operate as follows:
1. Flaps and ailerons
2. Full length ailerons
3. Crow (butterfly)
4. Spoilerons
A long time ago I had an Ultra Stick set up that way. I hope I can find the programming because I remember it was a bearcat to do. But I did get it working. But that airplane didn't have 2 elevator servos. So this one will be more challenging. Gonna be fun.
I expect to have the Giant done in about two weeks.
Thanks
Barry

Hey Gary. Excellant job on the Bipe! [X(] Gotta that hummer doing inverted low passes.......[8D]
Glad you got to fly Barry. I guess I didn't know that your part of Idaho gets such long snowy winters. Yikes!
Speaking of Giant U C Do's, I heard that someone at our field crashed a new one this past weekend. I heard that he forgot to unravel and stretch out the antenna wire. [X(] The couple that told me about it said it sounded like a car crash. [:-]

Gary She looks Good!!!... Have fun this weekend..
Well I finally got 5 full tk flts.... The glitching was giving me fits... Still have not really
elim. the glitch problem... I'm taping the ant. wire to the wing
.... I'm almost ready
to remove the tailwires... I did replace the bottom two cables with kelvlar string but
still the same... the wrapping of the ant on a stick... well it did not work for me, shorten
by rerouting, zig zaging etc. no go...... So on the wing it goes until I get two more eye
bolts to change out the top wires.... And if that does not work I guess the tailwires will
be history.... She flies "Sweet" as long as she's not twiching... I even got a rising spin
unill she rolled out of it...
