raideron...That's a really weird situation, that glitch. I hope you get it worked out. I've never really had a problem like that. I wouldn't even begin to know what to tell you. I have a couple of airplanes with wires on the tail (Harrier 3D & Funtana) and I didn't have a glitch problem. However, in fairness, the way I fly I wouldn't be able to tell for sure.
Flew the 60 again today during a long lunch. Got 3 flights in. I really love these planes. I was doing rising flat spins the went up 30 feet or more. Did some very nice rolling circles and some great hovers. Did some water falls so low I though I was gjeffers. Just had a great time.
The more I fly the Dos and get them trimmed for my kind of flying, the less I find fault in them. They are really nice flying airplanes.
Anyways I'm cranking out the flights while the weather lasts.
Thanks
Barry

just ran another tank through her and she is ready i am glad to say, wont take me long and ill have one for all
Ron, ive been thinking (phew!!) and it took me a while but i finally remembered what caused my problem that was just like yours, check the antanna wire(especially if your rx has been used a bit) right where it goes into the little case, mine was held by just 1 strand of wire and it was glitching bad, i soldered it and put it back together and waa daa, it was gone,(like my memory)
that might not be it but its worth a check[8D]

Hey Gary... Wish it was that....Both the rec.'s I used are older, but first plane that it's
been in since being tuned and both got new ant. wires from Hitec....
I have no glitching now that I tape the ant. to the wing(today)... But that can get old..
Hopefully when I change out the top cables on the tail I can run the ant down the fuse
again...
Rob.... I have been thinking of changing the tail servos on the "Do" to the ones that's
laying on the floor on my resting dead Kat....
......
It'll get worked out(I hope).. But at least I'm back to 4-6 flts:-)))

Fly at lunch time. Lucky guy. I have only been out 4 times this year. Today is suppose to be beatiful. Ready to lean out my Saito 82 a little more. About ten tanks thru it. Love them 4 strokes. For those who might have trouble with the 72 or any of the engines with the plastic backing plate. I found that my engine leaned out and got pretty hot even with 5 to 6 turns out of HS needle. Drove me crazy thiunking it was a fuel problem. It appears that the o-ring & washer on the intake pipe going into the head are beat from the vibration from plastic backing plate. Checked the Saito engine forum and Bill Robuison helped me out tremendously. Grat guy.
gjeffers Weekend is getting closer. Take pics of inverted bipe.

dougwill...I really don't get out that often. I think I've been out 4 times as well. But all my flying is done in 2 hour timetables. I only work 10 minutes from the field and I'm my own boss (this has advantages and disadvantages) so I can steal away a couple of times a week...sometimes. When things are tight at work and the weather is good, I fly for a long lunch (2 hours) and I'm back refreshed and ready to go. Unless of course I'm flying a Showtime, Velox or I crash. Then it takes me time to get over it.
I rarely (unfortunately) get to spend more than 2 hours at the field as I work 6 days a week and Sundays are for church, not flying.
Anyways, I enjoy the hobby whenever I can.
Thanks

Doug, I hope Bill told you about velocity stacks, too. If you add a velocity stack (only from Horizon, $6.75) and a Bru-line filter, you will nearly eliminate all the oil on your firewall. I never had a messier bird than the Saito 82a on the Twist. I wasn't getting great flight times, either. Well, the velocity stack keeps the fuel in the carb, not blown back on the firewall, with consequent improvement in fuel consumption. The velocity stack fits neatly over the carb, easy to install, and adding the filter also helps keep the fuel, clean, in the carb, not on the firewall or elsewhere.
Try it. And the velocity stack also fits the 1.0 Saito and maybe the 120 and 125, I can't recall.

Man... I hope that's not the average on H.S. needle valve setting on the S 82????
I think mine is around 2 turns open, don't seem to be running hot and she leaves
a good smoke trail...... Just wondering, Hate to be burning her up.... My low side is
about 4 turns open now after 100oz's or there abouts....

Yes Bill R. did mention the velocity stack & filter. Unfortunately with the carb offset the way it is in the 72 & 82s there is not enough room between the carb & motor mount. Dang!
Winds were running 8 to 14 mph last night, so I decided to get my grass cut and go fly tonight. I know UCDs fly great in the wind, but its to early in the season to take chances at least untill I get the rest of my planes ready to fly. If I could only fly & cut grass at the same time.
raideron No your fine at 2 turns. 2 to 3 seems about norm depending on tank and line lengths, inverted
or not. If your worried about engine leaning out as tanks empties, chk out this set-up for a uniflw set-up.

well i made it with great success ( i have two wings barry)
a little trouble getting the 180 started(likes to backfire the cone loose when a little flooded) but once i got it started it ran and restarted easily.
took her up and trimmed it out a few clicks on ele and ail and man did she fly easy(soft setup) and was she pretty comming by, flew her twice and had handling problems on the ground and scratched the covering off the righ wing so im back home now and already have the wing repaired and almost have my new reserve sullivan tailwheel installed,(becomming my #1 choice for tailwheels)
what power!!!! all in all a great day, will take her out tomorrow and get her all settled in and maybe do a inverted flyby or two also
thanks for listening guys, the guys on the pitts thread dont seem to be around anymore, just aint the same as here

gjeffers...Congrats on a successful maiden. I've love to fly a biplane. Never done that. I've kinda got my eye on the Curtis P6 from Great Planes. Not really my kinda flying but the plane looks so sweet.
I've been flying the 60 and really enjoying the plane. Maybe too much. I haven't been spending enough time on the Giant. Maybe tonight and tomorrow I'll get some work done on it. I've got the wings done (can you say HUGE!?) Goes together just like the littler ones. I'm enjoying the build. Taking my time and doing it right.
The 60 with the extra power has quickly become my favorite airplane. Man, it will do anything and I just love it. Even starting to get it to do some great inverted rising flat spins. Ya gotta love it.
Anyways, good job Gary. Hope you'll continue to keep us informed no matter what the plane. THat's what makes this the best thread on RCU. No pre conceived notions, except of course that the UCDs are some of the best planes out there.
Have a great one guys.
thanks
Barry

Hello all!
Maidened my ucd 46 with S100 today! WOW WOW WOW! Very impressed by this combo! And I would say that it does not feel as ugly overpowered. It hadles very easy.
Saito now swings APC15X4W on 20% BYRON fuel and I limit it to 9700RPM. Dry weight is 2860g (no pants). Many thanks gjeffers for the info regarding saito 100 installation. The only thing I made differently than in gjeffers installation is reverse of one engine mount bolt nearest to the carb. The nut is outside. The bolt is tighten from within the fuse using long screwdriver. See the pic. That trick allowed to shift engine closer to the firewall another 6mm.

Congratulations on the Pitts Maiden Gjeffers, it looks so good in the pictures i can only imagine how great it looked in the sky.
I had a great day at the field yesterday. I maidened my Katana and that plane did pretty much anything I wanted it to. I just couldnt believe how easy it was to get it to knife edge.
I am starting to get a hang of the UCD, i think i am a little braver now that i have two planes at the field. I figured out how to get it in a horizontal flat sping that will stick there till i run out of fuel. I cant get it to climb, but maybe with a little practice, i know the Mag 91 has the power.

Great Job Gary!!... She does look good!!! Keep up the great work...
Stayed home today working on the S.T. Wanted to use the pitts muffler with the YS 110,
But she won't fit without some changes.... If she fits in my car, I may give her a try on
wed.... But still a little hesitant on flying her...
The "Do's" flying great.... But taping the ant. to the wing is getting old....
