Hey guys, I had some great flying with the Do yesterday. What fun! I ran it out of fuel on the first flight though. Is there a larger tank out there that fits without modifying it a lot?

rclement...Good your flying that thing.
On the tank issue...Gjeffers asked the same thing a long time ago. He said the stock tank was 9 ozs. I told him he could get an 11oz from Horizon Hobby (hanger 9) and it was a good fit with no modifications. He said great and ordered it. When he got it he fill them both with fuel and they held the same amount. So with Hanger 9...9ozs = 11ozs. He did feel better though because it said he was carrying more fuel.
My answer is there isn't another tank that will go in that small area that is larger than the stock one.
You could shorten your flight times by one minute. That would help. Mine is very nearly out of fuel at 11-12 minutes. But I can fly that long each time.
Thanks
Barry

Rob, on my "Do" #2... Here's my almost info
.. on the tanks.. I did not fill test,
but it did look bigger than my stock tank... I had to trim the tank saddle and I also
had to trim/shave the bottom of bulkhead at the???>> Tank access hole to get the
tank in the nose.. The tank ends just about even with the bulkhead that the wing
dowel goes into.. But.... one problem
... I forgot which tank I actually got... I
really think it was the 12oz... But??... Both have the same dim.. H= 2 1/2 W= 2 1/8
except the L, 12oz is 1/4" longer.. 4 3/4 to 5"... I just checked mine and it looks
about 5" long.... This is from Towers... And its was either the Sullivan RST 10
(300ml= 10.14oz) or RST 12(360ml=12.17oz) I believe I got the RST 12... My stock
Tk. had printed on it 270cc(9.13oz)... You can check the conversions... But..........
Even if it does hold more fuel (Mine does)............. I still had/have a bunch of "out of
fuel" dead sticks [:@]...... But the "Do" floats" Great
.... But remember... in a 2-3'
hover>>> out of fuel>>> dead stick..... And....... As good as she is.........................
The "Do" does not float that good....
My Bat's are a charging.... [
].... Not the "Do" but three of my "others"... Just in case
the forecast is correct on the wind......

Thanks Barry and Ron, I'll check into that tank Ron. That is the first time I have ran it out of fuel in a long time. It was so fun flying it that I just lost my mind for a bit.
Oh, I crashed my Katana finally last Saturday. I had flown it several times that day and was doing good with it. Then I brought it in for a landing and noticed that I still had some fuel in it so I took off again and got to wild with the sticks and Dumb Thumbed it into the ground. Arrrggghhhh......[
] I've got another one in the box so I'll start on it soon.

Hey Rob.... They are all numbered[:@].....
This guy at the field has 2 of them that he wants to sell... $80..... I'm thinking about
it... That's almost what it'll cost from ebay with their higher shipping??? But I may
just fix my V2...???? Not sure why, but it's still laying in the spot that I dropped her
at.... Bad me....
Had a Great morning, The S.T. did great.. I moved the bat. back a bit more, and also
finally added my 1/4oz of weight to the Rt wing, since I got more YS stickers to cover
the hole
... I still need to touch the stick for level invert flt, so it may be going back
a bit more and I still need to do something with my tailwheel.... She almost lost the top
of the rudder[:'(] I did a 2' invert pass, and the gallery was yelling lower.... So.........
But just before, I did a few blenders..... Then I did the pass.... Forgot I was still on high
rates..... She came close[X(]... As the wind was doing all sorts of things... But all came
out great
.... My Avistar did good also... Had to check all since our funfly is coming
up and I'll most likely use it... And my SPAD is still the fastest
. But I'm losing ground..
We all had a "Big" surprize, we all thought the model was history... But the member that
instructed me when I started, went up in a (not sure what) 3 d type plane... But it started
glitching Bad!!! He has flown it before with no problems... Anyway He tried 3 times to land
after regaining control, but then it went crazy again, but luckily on the fourth try, he was
about 3' up at the start of the runway, and it went sour again, it did a tight circle and back
down the runway, and he had enough control to land and kill the engine with no damage...

Sounds like quite a day for you Ron. Glad you got some flying in. I'm going to fly tomorrow, without the Kat though. I have a new one in the box but I haven't gotten a chance to start on it yet. I'm still building a new Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle. It has replaced my Funtana that seemed to love the ground more than flying. The Fliton looks gorgeous.

I got most of the stuff for the Do over the last couple of days. It turns out that the JR flight pac I had ordered has been discontinued though so... I'm on a new mission to find the best deal for good servos for all of the surfaces. I have the throttle worked out already. Now I need all the rest. What is everyone flying in their Do's for servos? I;ll make a list that you can copy and paste into your reply. Thanks everyone.

Wooo Hoooo !!!!! I finally maidened the Do. I almost turned around and went home without flying. Too many little things at the last minute. Landing gear was loose, no biggey. Rudder was reversed, no biggey. Trim was out of whack, no biggey. Rudder control rod popped of arm at start of taxi run, could have been nasty. I got to test the throttle kill setup on that one.
There were only two other guys at the field this morning and one recognized the tail sticking up out of my truck bed when I pulled up. He is putting a Do together and was anxious to see it fly.
Rollout seemed a bit longer than I expected. The tail didn't seem to pop up too quick. In the air only a couple of clicks to aileron and elevator trim and she was purring along. I took a few passes around getting the feel for it and Larry said "I like to get some altitude on my first flights". The Do felt SO GOOD I didn't even think about this being the maiden 45 seconds into the flight. I thanked him for bringing me back to reality and climbed out. Inverted needed just a touch of down. The landing was so calm and predictable. It slid in so soft. They left right after that flight and on my next flight I got a piece of a hover in just to see what it feels like. Vertical needs some help but will do. The OS 70 Surpass gives an unpeppy vert. Rolls felt good. Every move I tried felt good. I have't come out of low rates yet. That will be great.
This is going to be a very fun plane.

AKFireMedic... I'm running the same on my "Do".. except 635 on the rudder(what I
cannonballed from my EF Yak... I also run a 425 for the throttle, had a mini(85) but
I needed some weight up frt.... She does everything I ask of her, and sometimes more
dr_d_2k... Congrads
... They are Loads of fun!!!! So far on my models, Floats which
allows you to do things that none of my others allow you to do
Rob.... I found my tower receipt... I got the RST 10.... The 12 will be too long, but can be
made to fit, just have to be more creative at the bulkhead/tank saddles....
The "Do" and S.T. are on the charger just in case...
Hey Gary... How is all going

What ever happened to Blisster? I haven't heard from him in forever.
Got the Do all charged up for day 2 tomorrow. Gonna be hard to sleep. Dreams of doing waterfalls around sheep or something.....

Hey Gary... Saw you after I posted
.... Have to keep up on those Bats.. The last time
out I left my other radio on after testing the Avistar for the upcoming funfly, I moved the
Rec. bat forward, then took the S. T. up for three flts. and was going up again on the Avistar
but the radio was pretty low.... And a " BIG...No, No"... As I got the radio out of my trunk I
saw it was on..... Then a fellow member, (my old instructor) saw me put the radio I had the
pin for down and I got the other radio.... And I told him, D_m I left this radio on... He looked
at the only pin(other radio) hanging on my shirt and said... It's a good think noone else was
flying on that channel.....
....... Drive safe!! And have fun!!
Rob
... I hate to be wishee washee
, But I'm again not sure what tk. I have in
the "Do"... Found another reciept...... And the RST 12 was on there....... So...... Your guess
is as good as mine.... I know the 10 fits, as it was what was in "Do" #1..... Anyway good luck,
If something happens.......... Ahhh............. never mind[:-]
Barry... I just have to tell you again... Thank You for the tuning tips on the YS 110 a while back
She is running SSSoooooooooooooooooooo Sweet....... I'm so much in love with it

Hi all!
Yesterday i justmaidened mine with an OS 91FX.
Everything went great.
I used a Zinger 15x4 prop and S3004 servos an all surfaces!
On first flight i found that the elevator is very sensitive so i used negative expo.
What caused that?
As for the landings it comes better than my Avistar
Rolls are super fast.
I tried them on low-rates and i didn't try the high!
I tried also hover,
but i must train on it!
Here are some pics!
Enjoy,
Kostas

Kostas1.... They are big
.... Nice pics and good job on the maiden!!
.. Insure you got the balance good, being more tail heavy can make it more sensitive..
But most likely you just need less % on your low rate setting on adjust it until you
like where it's at.. IIRC.. Low low is around 20-30%rates/ 60expo.. Hi 100%/80expo
I do adjust my low side from time to time
Great day at the field

Rob, It's funny how that happens
... I usually fly my tanks worth, so most the
time I'm up the longest, there were a few times I knew that I was at the bottom
of the tank, and that very problem occurred, I usually clear, but stay right over
the runway and go up higher(Great Floater
).. But there was this one time
there was a dead stick, I cleared and was heading upwards and I ran out, we
ended up coming in from opposite ends of the runway and we both just missed
each other.... It's always fun, and learning the different things that can happen
at the field
You know on the tanks, the 10oz is very little difference than the stock, on mine
it came out to about a half oz(I had to test it) So I would say not worth it, unless
you could fit the 12 in there....

Hello guys,
I have been flying that U CAN DO 46 with an Saito 82 apc 14x4W for a bit. Good plane but I don't know if I'm the only one but two times the landing collapsed on landing? What should I do to fix that, any experienced around? Let me know.
Thanks,
Eric

Choopi, Glad you're here. The 82 and 14x4 are perfect for it. As far as the LG collapsing are you saying the block has come out? If so that's a common problem with them but very easy to fix. A good fix for it is to take the LG off and drill a couple of holes for some metal pins that will go from the surface that the LG goes on down through at an angle and come out of the plywood section that is where the belly pan butts up against. It basically pins the LG block to the plywood bulkhead behind it. Let us know how you come out with it.

maybe it will help, we have all had that problem i think[:@]
make sure you use some 30 min epoxy down the holes after you drill and just before you screw in the screws. i usede 8-32 allthread rod on the first and on the second i used a couple of 6-32 screws about 3 in long.
