I agree with doug and zooland. Go slow and small steps= money saved.
I spool up slowly using throttle trim, when the trim is all the way up I add
left stick throttle and just over half way on the throttle stick it gets light
on the skids. My BCP upon lift off , the nose goes to the left also along with left
aileron. I haven't found the SWEET spot on the 4 in 1 yet. As far as the
tail goes. Just remember in a bad landing/crash make sure to pull the trottle
trim down along with the left stick.

Hope this helps.

Doug,
Thanks for the great advice. Has anyone purchased anything from Heliproz Inc. ? I was thinking about purchasing the Trex 450 XL V3 from them?

Thanks for all the advice. I'm definetly going slow trying to follow Radd's school of flying and having fun. I'm at the point where you get it really light on the skids and run it around the floor. I find that tough to do since you have to add a lot of stick movement which I don't feel simulates real flying too well. It also tough to scoot it around the floor when it tends to drift forward-left quite a bit (not the nose, the whole heli, I got the gyro dialed in I think). Its one of those things where you don't know exactly when your ready to try flying?

One other questions. How do you all attach your batteries? I've got 2 batteries and I've tried using different types of sticky-back Velcro but none of it stays stuck to the plastic of the heli...need some suggestions.

I use velcro on the battery and then pop a rubber band around it to hold it in place. I'm using lipos so my battery is out front. If your battery is back farther you can loosen the battery tray and slip a band around it under the main gear. If you're having trouble getting the velcro to stick, wipe the battery with alcohol to remove any residue.

I'll keep trying the Velcro, I've had it come off both the battery and battery mount. A rubber band or two should help I guess. Thanks.

Got the bcp flying. Made adjustments to the gain and proportion and it flies smooth to say the least. This is the 3rd battery and i got it at like 5 ft off the ground and hovered a few seconds then i hovered about 5 inches off the ground for few more seconds. Then the battery started to drain and it started to descend lol. There is some tall grass about 2 ft and the blades hit them and went down. Surprisingly nothing happened to the heli besides the blades having a nice lime green color now . I love this heli.

Hello again. Finished my fith flight today with the BCP. This flights went smooth also. Little rough landings but good nonetheless. I flew it outside a bit and it was very fun but a little scary almost hit one the cars. Here is a video of one of the flights inside the room.

Tried to watch. Either you forgot to take the lens cap off or something is wrong, cause it was all black. Played one of the other vids and it was fine. Or maybe you were flying a covert mission and I don't have security clearance.

Does anyone else have trouble balancing this? It is always wanting to rotate, even when I try to correct with the rear motor?? How do you adjust the chopper to not rotate so much? Is there any way to get it more stable?

Bob,

I broke mine twice right off the bat and got sick of it. It is a poor design. I replaced it with the following tail fin from helidirect.com:

http://www.helidirect.com/product_in...roducts_id=751

I mounted it to the tail with a Dubro 3/16" landing gear strap:

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXVJ28&P=0

Here are a couple pics of the tail fin on my Blade. I never had anymore tail hit problems after putting this fin on. A great fix, and looks great too.

If you've broken any landing gear, use a leg off them. Cut it off with a Dremel cutoff wheel, drill out the old tail support (a Dremel and a small bit work very well) and glue the new one in with CA.

Black on mine too. You probably used a non-common video codec that isn't used by many computers. Probably a video codec that came with a piece of hardware (video capture card, etc.) or video editing software that you intsalled.

Thanks Doug, thats a great idea.Ive replaced everything except the 4 in 1 , servo's and canopy
on this thing.I agree it's a bad design.(tail support). Thanks again. BTW i saved your video
and watch it often.

Chris

I tried drilling it out but know luck. Got my finger pretty good though. i do
have parts from old landing gear. I think i'll try a piece of that an some
fuel tubing to hold me over till i get Dougs parts. my battery is charging
and I would like to get some stick time in. Subject to the wind of course.

Thanks again guys

Sounds like you need to adjust the proportional on the 4-in-1. It's the inside dial closet to the motor plugs. First turn the gain dial (other one) all the way off (IIRC counterclockwise). Unplug the battery, adjust the dial, just a hair at a time, and then start up. Check it and if it's still rotates, or gets worse, repeat until it holds. You have to disconnect the power each time and make sure you don't move the heli until the 4-in-1 initializes fully. A lot of people have trouble with the gyro because they plug in the battery and then set it down or move it in some way before the 4-in-1 engages. Once it has power, it shouldn't be moved until the gyro locks in. After you get the proportion set, you can adjust the gyro. Usually somewhere around 90-95% is about right. The gain can be adjusted with the power connected.

dignlivn--I tried cmassa's method twice and figured it wasn't worth it. Too easy to break again. I use the same one Doug (djdavid) has.

I tried that exact tail fin but I found it too flexible. It would bend out of the way and my tail rotor would strike the ground or the tail fin itself. I guess it didn't work as well for me as it does for Doug.
If you put a bead on the end of the rod, it won't dig into the ground or flooring, and may never break. With the current version of superskids, we use the fin to support the tail rod strut as shown in the attached picture. It really helps to strengthen it. In the next superskids revision (due out in about 6 weeks), the tail fin will be clipped to the rod and the bead will be included.
If you think you can drill out the old rod and put in a new one, I think I have an extra fin and bead I can send you, free.

Zooland and gtx slotcar

thanks guys for your help.
I have an extra motor mount and support rod. i am to lazy to un solder and re solder
the tm wires to replace it with the same POS set up. I took an old piece of landing skid
with the groove on the bottom and slid a piece of rod into it. At the other end i took a
piece of fuel line and ca'd it to the stub that was left where it originaly broke. It may only
last a little while. the wind here usally dies down later in the afternoon. in some was I
thinking, Do I really need it? My tail boom is loose where it inserts into the main frame.
I lke it that way because it does give on rough landings. just have to be sure it is square
before each flight.
slotcar I like the idea of a bead, Ive been using a piece of foam from a beer coozie on the bottom end.

Thanks again

Bob

Hey guys, bought a CP a couple of weeks ago and have about 6 flights on it. I'm starting to get a fairly stable hover going. I haven't broke anything major yet, just some dinged main rotor tips and a broken tail rotor shaft due a panic landing in grass....found out she doesn't like the grass. I've flown airplanes for about 20 years, this is my fist attempt at a heli. On the first flight I wondered what the hell I had gotten into, but it seems to be coming along nicely. Trying to take little baby steps and not get ahead of myself. Trying to follow the steps in Ray's guide. Once someone gets competent with a CP, how would that translate into flying gas helis?

I seem to have a good one. I haven't had any of the zooming up problems or anything that many seem to have with theirs. This is the coolest "toy", as my wife would call it, that I have ever had. Love it.

Also, what is a good .30 size heli these days? I have an old Concept 30 DX which you can't many parts for anymore, so I gutted the radio, gyro, and engine out of it. This heli appears to have never been flown before I aquired it so all the components are like new. The gyro is an actual gyro, but I don't know if everyone is using pezio gyros these days or what. It came with an OS Max .32. Are the Century helis that Tower sells any good or would I be better off with a Raptor, or something like that.

Claflin75, I swear you and I are in the same boat. I flew fixed wing for 16 yrs before getting this so call "toy", by my wife, and I'm also thinking of upgrading to a gas heli. I'm going to go with the Raptor Titan 50. I don't know much about the Concept except that a friend in the club called them cheap. I do know that they've come along way with gyros and the newer ones make it alot easier to fly. I've done some loops and rolls with the Blade and it really shows that it has a poor gyro, definetly not head locking.Fixed wing are awesome but aren't these rotors a blast?!

I CA'd a piece of CF tube over the rod once. I kind of groved the top so the boom sat in the notch. To make a long story short, it lasted just about as long as it took you to read this post.[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

I have a Nexus 30, and I just love it !!! I have had no trouble finding anything for it so far, and today it's cherry... I don't know the difference between the Concept 30 and the Nexus 30, but I have heard that alot of the parts are interchangable. Whoever told you that the Kyosho Concept 30 was cheap, obviously don't know what he's talking about. All Kyosho stuff is top quality, and my Nexus is built beautifully. There is no comparision between the Nitro and the Micro. My Nexus is 100 times easier to fly than the Blade CP, and the tail control is amazing with the Nexus by comparrision. I wish I never wasted my money on a Micro Heli with a tail motor...
