I was able to get my engine running today. It ran very smoothly I noticed that it consumed fuel very quickly compared to my Fuji 50. Also, I noticed a black oily reside coming from the muffer and sticking on the airplane. Is it normal to get the black residue from this engine?

Souds like it is running to rich, you may want to lean the H & L end screws some, What RPM are you getting?

Some exhuast byproduct is normal for any gas engine but rich running new engines with poorly adjusted carburetors and unseated rings produce more than any other. Adjust your carb for optimum performance and you will get the fuel economy and power the engine is capable of, much less mess also. Give it some time to seat the rings and it will be even better.

Thanks for the response. The engine idles at ~1360 rpm. At full throtle, I'm getting 6600 rpm.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to run the engine rich for a while.

Can this engine swing a master screw 22-12 prop? I just bought the plane and the guy says it turns it good. Is that too much pitch. The plane is darn fast for a Sun Dancer Bi-plane. Also what is a good size tank for this engine.

Like Jody said, no need to run them rich. They're not glow engines, tune it and fly it

Hi all I own a DL50 that I have installed in my EF Extra 300 88" and I´m very happy with the engine, so happy that I got two new DL50's for my Ziroli P38, I already have the plans and all the glass parts and I´m waiting for the wood that should be here next week, my question is, can I modify one of the engines to have counter rotating engines in my P38? is this posible? Has any one made this modification?

Thanks in advance

This should be possible without to much trouble, 2 stroke engines really don't even know which way they are turning. All that really needs to be done is to relocate the sensor to achieve the required 28-30 degrees BTDC ignition timing while turning the other direction.

Thank you Jody, I will try to make the change and see what's the outcome I have time until I build the firewall of my Ziroli P38 and I will post the results.

Does it do it more in the air than on the ground? If so your cowling drafts are hitting the carb plate vent and making it run rich. I installed an 8-32 barb and plumbed it into the fuse with tygon. Much better now. If it does it on the ground too then just lean the low needle.

Greg,

Did you run a line from the diaphram into the fuse like the picture of mine? You may need to to help the burbling.

Also I have a 3.5" spinner on mine. If you don't need any nose weight I have a "carbon fiber like" 3.5" spinner cut for a xoar 22-8 that I will make you a real deal on. If you look on Valley View RC you can see them. If you want aluminum look at TBM http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/ns/acce/spinners/mpial/. Only $28. I have this one and it is really nice. Also lighter than True Turn.

Is anyone from your club going to Franks this weekend?

I just now ordered a Xoar silver painted 22-8 and a Vess 22B prop. I will try both and see which is better. What are the flight envelopes between the two? I need to also find a loud prop. Most people want a quiet prop. I like a a loud prop noise to make a more realistic sound. The

Greg, Master Airscrew is wide enough to stir and mix paint well. I believe you have something there.

Dam Jodi, I'll just call you quick draw...you beat me by a minute.

PS: Eric, I've had better luck with Valleyview than DLUSA. Valleyview RC had engines in stock (DLUSA did not) and Jodi helped me right away with a carb rotation question.

I'll step in here. Valley view RC is the one to call. Jodi always answers the phone and doesn't give you the I'm to busy or I'm to good to Talk to you attitude that Bob does at DL USA.
