Guys I know this is the wrong forum for this but can anyone of you vet this radio setup for my Velox jet.

Please advise if this is OK. The radio is a Futaba 10C and Rx 14 Ch - FS6014.

Ch1 Aileron on Y
Ch2 Elevator
Ch3 ECU
Ch4 Rudder
Ch5 Gear on switch
Ch6 Flaps on Y
Ch7 Brakes on switch
Ch8 Nose wheel slaved to rudder, activated by gear switch.
Ch9
Ch10

Only thing I would do different is put the brakes on a slider. Other than that should work great.

Sandy, since you have two unused channels, why not use one of them for the other aileron for crow. A slightly exaggerated washout is most benefitial for this airframe (speaking from personal dreadful experiences, if you must ask), on slow flights, flatter rudder turns, or it would snap right out of the sky.... good luck!

Thanx for your suggestion Barry. However Ch9 & 10 are only on/off channels on the 10C not proportional.
Having said that - I can use those for the gear and brakes - hence freeing up Ch5 & 7, which are proportional ones.

The modified set up may look like:

Ch1 Aileron 1
Ch2 Elevator
Ch3 ECU
Ch4 Rudder
Ch5
Ch6 Aileron 2 , std. Flaperon set up on Futaba.
Ch7 Nose wheel slaved to rudder, activated by gear switch.
Ch8 Flaps on Y
Ch9 Gear retract on switch
Ch10 Brakes on slider or spring switch. My brakes are on/off not proportional.

In the above set up I can even have the flaps on separate channels to make trim easier.

What say you guys ??

I have heard rumors of the K80 being "boosted" to the 20lb mark. Exactly how would that be accomplished?

If this would be performed at the factory , would my unit still be under warranty?

Jmalone1982,

I beleive by default, Kingtech under rates their engines. Any report I have read said they exceed the rated 18+ lb spec. Some reports have them as high as 20 lbs, as is. I know the two I have put out way more than 80 newtons......

I believe the only way to effectively increase the thrust of any given turbine without actually opening the can would be to increase total rpm, would it not?

So bye bye warranty.

However the max rpm is locked in the ecu. so suppose that if the factory was doing this for someone then the turbine would still be warranteed?

The only reason ask this isbecause saw in the classifieds a pair of factory boosted k80's.

This is VERY good advice for this airframe. It will be a completely (more tamed) jet on landing if you do this.

Thanx to advice from this forum this is how I have my Futaba 10C worked out now for the Velox/ K80E

CH1 Aileron1
Ch2 Elevator
Ch3 throttle/ECU, also has airbrake/ crow control
CH4 Rudders on Y
CH5 Flap1
Ch6 Flap2
Ch7 Aileron2
Ch8 Nose wheel slaved to Rudder only in gear extended mode
Ch9 Brake
Ch10 Retract

The aileron/ Flap set up is the 2A2F set up available in the GLID mode of Futaba 10C. it is the 4 servo wing config. In this mode I am using 2 stock mixes - Airbrake/ crow and Elevator to Flap.

What I need from you experts is the throws on the the aileron/ flap and elevator during the mixes. specially

1. Crow mix - how much Flap down and elevator up
2. How much elevator to given flap. I have flap on a 3 position switch. - 0, 33, 66. The airbrake is beyond full flap and so is max flap position.
3. should elevator be down or up with a given flap.

I am going for the rookie meeting at Karbach, Germany to get a hang of flying Jets. This has coincided perfectly with my Hannover fair participation!! The maiden will be only after that.

This forum has really helped me get off the ground with this Velox and the K80E.

Thanks guys..

Looking for Propane not kero start. Wondering if they are anywhere in near future. Have already paid for it with Dreamworks. Just waiting on my engine to complete Twin project that is almost ready to fly minus its second engine.

Thanks

Why wait? The gas start is faster starting and just as good.

Are the normal gas start turbines not the same as propane start ? The gas we use is typically a mix of propane n butane. What is the difference if one uses propane instead of the mix ?
