Rob

I generally like to keep the ECU Away from the RX. I know that with 72mHz the ECU needed to be away from the RX but with the 2.4gHz I still try to keep the ECU away from the RX.

Barry,
Thanks for your asisstance with the procedure of swapping out a new pump as I was having trouble with the pump that came with the turbine. I took the original pump apart at the field in order to get it to operate. But when I tightened the bolts to the motor housing the pump/gears would not turn. So by leaving the screws a little loose the pump would operate. I could'nt see any debris holding up the gears. The pump then developed a new problem. It would hunt for the idle rpm and spit and sputter with the smoke out the tail pipe when going to full throttle. The new pump fix that and the turbine is happy again.
I contacted Barry because Todd at dreamworks where I bought the turbine would have been closed at 6:30-7:00 P.M. on a Friday. Barry was great and instrumental in getting my turbine up and running smooth again.
I want to thank Todd as well for sending me the new pump with a quick turn around. Without these guys Kingtech here in the states would be hard pressed to sell or service their products.

One HAPPY customer

Hi from Germany,
yesterday i had the first tubine flight ever with my Skymaster JAS 39 Gripen and Kingtech K80E . The flight itself was awesome, very good combination with the Kingtech.
I flew from our local Grasstrip and had no problems at the start, but after landing and cool down phase i tried to start the turbine again but unfortunately the Starter Motor blocks.
I put the turbine out of the plane and see that the front Turbine wheel rubs a bit on the side. I now wait for an answer from Chuang what to do. I use Diesel with 5 % Aeroshell Oil.
I think i must send it back to Taiwan for repair []
I attached some pics from my installation.
Best regards
Reinhard

Rliebl.. you're using HXT9g servos for your actuators?  Are they performing ok?  just a little surprised they'd be on a turbine....  but gotta say i do use them alot myself alot as they're hard to break....

Cool!    the only problem i've found with some of them is that once in a while, you get one that jitters at a certain position....

Very Nice Reinhard. I hope you get some vidoe's of the Gripen. Been looking at that bird for a few weeks. Overall, how is the flying and landing?? Is it good for short field?? Roy

Hi Roy,

thank you,
for now i only have a Video from the Gripen with EDF- Power. I think you know the Gripen tread here on Rc- universe, there is a lot of good info for that plane.
The Gripen flys really well, as a Delta with canards you can fly her very slow. I been flown from our local grasstrip, the whole lenght is about 130 m. It is absolutly enough for Take off,
for the landing it is ok too. My first landing was a bit fast but i could brake the gripen down until the end of the runway, so i would say it´s ok for short fields. I let the Canards for take off and landing
about 10mm in positiv position without mixing it to the elevons so i could get her in with a nice nose high angle. I attached you the link from my grasfield takeoff with the EDF Version.

Just maidened my Tmajets 1/8th F-16 with the K80E today...what a great way to spend Father's Day!!!! The K80E provided plenty of thrust and other than on take off or go arounds, the throttle was kept around 50-60%. Thanks to Dave Dennison for all the help today, I know I would have had my hands full with out it, and thanks to Barry from Kingtech for all the help with the engine setup and initial start. It feels great to finaly get this thing in the air!

CUSTOMER SERVICE +++++++AAAA
I would like to share my K-80 turbine service experience with all of you.Few months back I had a problem with one of my K-80's.I did  lots of testing and ran some dirty fuel through the turbine and it would not run right after that.I sent it back to the factory thinking I plugged the injectors or something else. They tested it and found that the ECU may have been damaged by my running the prime function for extended periods breaking in the pumps which were causing over load errors in the ECU.They found the injectors clean and everything inside was great so they are replacing the ECU free of charge.I was very happy that they are doing this also very surprised that they found the injectors clean!

My second K-80 sucked a bunch of dirt through the motor when I landed hard in a dirt field. The RPM sensor was screwed up and the turbine needed to be sent back for an inspection, cleaning, and given a clean bill of health from the factory.I was prepared for large service bill for cleaning this turbine.I got word yesterday  from Barry  of Kingtech USA that the turbine was in fact dirty inside and need to be cleaned and rebalanced. He also told me that they would be doing this free of charge to show me their appreciation  since I bought 2 turbines from Kingtech.
So all I can say is wow and thank-you Chuang and Barry ++++AAA for customer Service.

Thanks Roy, yeah, that's my number 101 running smooth and the camera is one of those key chain type.
First saw clips posted by Tony in Taiwan using such a gismo, and I was like, gotta get me a couple of those and did on eBay for about $10 each.

looks way better on the hard drive I tell that, I still have yet to figure out how to upload onto youtube without this much of distortion, me so new at youtube
Like my F-16, I find Gripen slows down easier with a bit aft CG say 1 to 2cm aft from the manufacture. As far as landing there's quite a bit of CG shift, as it grows lighter in the front (forward tank location), I am using flight mode on 12x to down trim and deactivate canard upon landing, so wouldn't have to hold forward pressure to flare.[:'(]

Barry,

what the AUW of the Gripen and how many liters of fuel are you carrying?  How much fuel left after that flight? Thanks!

Rob, I don't have a precise AUW, but I would think it's probably around 21 or so, it carries about 85 to 90 oz of fuel, and like to land about half of last of three tanks in series.
Roy, make sure you don't get any larger than 4g card. I got the 8g and a charge wouldn't even touch the second half.[&o]
