Luke glad to hear from you. I would of never done this without your input. Thanks on my Cat I am very happy with the turn out. I will PM you, I need backups for the canopy and the strut covers just in case. I can say that by the end of this week I will have two of your tailwheels done. All the parts are cut out and filed smooth, now just to solder them together. Hey when you get the Widow done send me a pic it was really looking great last time you showed pics.

Thanks again Randy

Hey Virginian congrats. I know all about flying one. This is my second one. After Luke started to show what we could do to one of these ARF's well just had to do it. Hope the weather does better for you soon. I had a great day flying today in fact it was perfect sunshine and just a light breeze. Today I took out the B-25 and made some bomb runs.
Here is what the first Cat looks like. Nothing special just some paint.

Luke,

I definitely want a set of the wheel covers and a canopy. I've been trying to track you down for months. What do I need to do to get those items asap.

Luke,
If your going to dust off the molds I'd love to get in on the cockpit, drop tank, and wheel covers. Also, what other parts did you make.

Thanks in advance

I believe Bob Holman would sell his plans, wing kit and cowl that should fit your fuselage. The end result would be much closer to scale.

Luke,

Did you ever get a chance to fly your cat? It looked great, just wondered how it flew.

Hey guys, I sent a response to everyone that sent me a private message, thanks again for all the support. For those that are interested in the parts that just posted in the thread, you can go to my web page, I’ve updated the products page. I’m going to wait for a few days and then when everyone orders that wants to I’m going to package and send everything at the same time, it will save me a lot of hassle.

Thevirginian, your Cat will look outstanding with a new canopy, looks great as it is now!

Randy (warks62) Looking forward to the tail wheels, if you need any help don’t hesitate to ask. I really love the work you did on your Cat. Very inspiring, if that won’t get people pumped about this project, nothing will!

Bigbird, I’ve actually dropped all of my modeling activities unfortunately, not sure if or when I’ll get back into it, so no, I have not flown it. I’m not going to sell all of my planes and hobby extras yet, I’m just going to look at it as time off, if I stay out of the hobby for too long then I may sell everything. I just happened to check this thread one day and saw all the posts asking for parts, so I can do that for you all. Anyway, I’ll keep you all posted.

Hal, give me a call this morning, I’ll be home.

Luke

Hey BentMetal;
thanks for the laurels. Yes, I would like one of your canopies to make mine look even better. My mods are not quite as elaborate as yours but after four month building I said to myself enough is enough, she is meant to be flown and not only to be looked at. She flies great although kinda suirrely on the ground, especially in crosswind. I sent you a PM like everybody else did. Hope it is not too late for one more canopy

The web site store is open, I want to leave it open long enough to get everyone taken care of, I'll be busy over the next couple of days making parts, I can see that already. I thought I'd post a few of the last pictures I took of my CMP Hellcat, so everyone can see how far I got. All I have to do to finish it is paint the wing basically, I may finish it if you guys can inspire me to with your work. Randy is well on his way to accomplishing that! Like I said though, I'm a fan of this plane, I don't care how much you modify it if at all. I could see past the bad paint and lousy accessories, with just a little TLC it can be a really nice model.

Bentmetal AKA, Luke I hope you are just taking a little time off. Hate to see a very good modeler stop, besides you might do another plane I really like and I could buy more of your killer parts. Thanks for the compliment means a lot coming from you. I have started the tailwheel retracts going easier than I thought at least so far. Finished the radio install, remote glow, and air setup in the fuse. Couldn't find my fuel tank so ordered another one, needed a Great Planes 24oz they are nice and short and fit well. Started to get the lines and servo wires run through the wing, not much fun there and has been a real pain in the behind. Spent about 1 hour so far and not half way there yet. My routing through the retract area is tight but you won't see anything. Mounted the centerline tank with the cables and it really looks good. I can say to all you guys doing this if you don't do any other mod you have to get one of Lukes canopy's it makes the plane. Ity is like night and day. I will keep you posted.

Hey warks62
I don't know if you saw my retractable tailwheel ass'ly. I made it myself and it works like a charm. Very simple in detail, too. Looks soo much better when you do a low flyby and all gears are retracted. If youwant me to, I can post a few more shots of it.

BentMetal, I really look foward to incorporating your formed parts on this new bird. Thanks for accepting new orders.

Just mounted the modified Zenoah G-23 (34) and Phew~ it fits....
Now just to clean up the engine mount fiberglass.
I also glassed the internal side of the firewall hoping to make it a little stronger. Anyone know of any gotchas or weak spots in the front of the fuselage?
Thanks

Luke, would it be possible for you to post dimensions or even templates/patterns for the aileron/flap mods that you made? Also, did you shorten the stabs when you made the changes to the attachment points on the fuse? It's great to see you back, I really enjoyed your input on this thread. Thanks for all your help and inspiration so far.

fordy8 here is some pics of a 3 vue. I used these to get the scale of things if you still remember your math. Just kidding but these were very helpful to me. This is what I used to get the scale of things. I printed them out and then measured distances and then caculated my measurements. On flaps I used the inner flaps stock as they came and just fiberglassed them as they were. I then measure out my distance and cut the aileron off at the correct distance to turn that into a flap. I didn't go to the trouble Luke did on the flaps to make them perfect scale. To mimick the cloth on the flap I just took 3/4 inch tape and taped the flap going across leaving about 1/8" between the tape. I went all the way accross this way then primered them again. When dry I pulled the tape off giving a appearance that it was fabric covered. I just light sanded them before painting color. The ailerons were just a piece of 1/8" balsa cut to shape with 1/2 ribs glued on top and bottom with a doubler at each end. Glued on a 1/2" square of balsa to the front and sanded to shape. Hope this helps no pics at this time.

Has anyone had the problem of the tank clunk not falling to the front of the tank? I pulled my tank out today and found that it wil fall to the top when upside down but when you hold it on end the clunk doesn't fall to the front of the tank, is this normal, I don't want the motor to cut out in a dive. Any solutions?
