Capiche 140 EX and IC version

Just to say that Probuild have a pipe that works very well, for £30 (140 and 120 size I think). You c an get an AAP power manifold (excellent!) , header and pipe for about £100.
Plus you could look into some second hand stuff aswell. Use a cheap but goot mount like the Gator soft and safe, MK horns with the triangular base, and you'll have a perfectly safe, strong, and reliable model, for less than your French jobbies.

Well I sent off my email, and deposit will be in the post tonight. Disappointed that it cant be guaranteed for Xmas. I'll just have to make do with the C50 for the time being.

Any chance of a petrol powered version in the near future ?. The costs of feeding a Big YS at £24.00 a gallon has put me off. There are lots of new 50cc petrol engine's out there now. Chype Hyde is now beginning to import and sell ARTF 50cc designed aircraft, built in Bankok. Maybe Archie could see if they could kit up a few Caphice's to see wether the ARTF format would work in the larger sizes.?

Mr mirror Futaba!!!
There is no way the 140 will live with a DA50!!!!!!
Well for more than 1 maybe 2 flights
I have been looking @ the Double Vision and it looks great but with those motors bits have got to be beefier but then so does the weight.
The boys new cnc 140 wings are very light and he now has a model electric powered @ 2 meter under 9lbs 8ozs!! My newest 140 which will have YS140 power will weigh the same I hope!!!
Ali's model with repairs and original cnc bits is plus 10lbs now and I think he likes it?!!
Dance with the devil I say!!
My choice would be the YS 120\140 or the Saito 180. Maximum on petrol would be 25cc IMHO

The Baron completly missed my point. A big YS is going to cost a small fortune to keep in fuel. I was sugesting that Island Hobbies might consider producing a slightly bigger Caphice for 50cc petrol engines.

fact is that in order to make the power pay for the weight, it was the case you had to look at 62 cc minimum - for performance.
whilst I have not seen it in use (I have experienced the DA 150) the new DA50 probably takes up the title of suitable performance for weight penalty, and yes its cheaper to run.
As for a bigger Capiche ? Well these things take a lot of work you know, and as nice an idea as it is... what would it be used for ? Only pleasure... no interest to the IMAC boys, too big for F3a and AA competition..
As great an idea as it may be these things do have to make commercial sense...
Baron I think the 20-30cc petrol in the C50 would be poor.
I could not comment on suitability of the DA50 cos I aint laid my eyes on one, but if you want chepaer running then MOKI & ST are options.
The thing is you have to ask yourself about what you want to do with this model, and if you want the best flight performance then you want consistency, torque, and power... YS Im afraid.
Would be interesting to see the weight comparison between the DA 50, with a PROPER silencing system, and the YS. I say PROPER because I know the simple silencers often used in the states would cause serious noise troubles in the UK.

and wot will happen if you run 10% on it
and wot will happen if you run 10% on it
You can use lower nitro on the sport YSs (I use 15% coolpower on my 120 fz) but 10% on an L or DZ and you are asking for trouble. They will run, but not reliably.

My Pre-order cheque is in the post(got home from school ,read the newsletter and legged it to the post box)!
Interesting that Malc reccommends the Saito 180. Unfortunately Just Engines only do their special pricing up to the 150, so it looks like i will go with that.
Do you think the vertical pull-out will still be good with the 150?
On the just engines website it quotes rev figures that are very similar to the Moki 135, which gives out 16lb thrust, so it should be enough hopefully hovering just over half thottle if the allup weight comes out similar to malc's quotes?
Should be nice anyway, and i can always add a pipe. Would a YS hatori pipe work with a Saito 150 too?

My pre order cheque will be posted in the morning.
Luke, I saw on the tacho forum someone saying his 150 gave 9400 rpm with an APC 16x8 on 15% coolpower. That is what I got with my YS 120fz. So running a 17x8 and you should still be in the same ball park (around 8400 rpm is what I get).
The pipe would fit, it is the header that is the problem. Saito threads are different to OS and YS (I think), so difficult to get the headers. (I have looked!) You could ask Just Engines see if they do one but don't list it. Macs Muffler in the US do one, don't think available here though.

I used to deal with MACS.
anyway... Luke why you so addicted to Saito... what does the 150 cost to you ?
I think the Hattori stuff aint too bad noise front if you mount them properly - should not be hard mounted, and I squeeze the down pipe to hush it a little more !
your are right that YS will run on 10% but they become much more sensitive to needle change, temperature and anything else..
give them 20% and you can set it and forget it !
Lots of people quote BHP figures to me, especially on cheaper / 2 stoke motors. I got nothing against em but you must remember that torue is critical.... an engine can have all the horses in the world but in this territory it s no good if they cant gallop up hill from a standing start. Your RPM needs to be under 10k - then make some comparisons..
do i sound like im on a soap box !?
Philly - like the comment - my thoughts exactly !
Ian - I get suspicious about you sometimes !
Luke - Baron is not recommending this engine... just commenting that on paper it seems like a good alternative... I doubt you will ever lure him away from his beloved YS. Remember... with a YS you can pop that tank right on the cg and never tell the difference in flight between half full and half empty !
Unless you use an extra pump right Sprink and they seem to work well dont they ! ;(
Ivebeen out in the workshop tonight packing frikkin pushrod sets, ball link packs, control horns the lot... fussy lot at IH they are... some bits from here, some bits from there !
I think by end of next week everything will be ready for supply... another ***** load of props came in today too... still, we got most of them packed to send back out to trade tomorrow so it aint all bad...

Luke, drop Archie an email, asking for his prices on the YS engines. I'm sure he is itching to tell you but cant advertise on here!
Ask if he can do the 140 FZ sport. I think you may be surprised at the price if he can. And these come with a silencer included, though you may struggle to hit the EMC noise limits with just that.
As for cheaper silencers than Hatori for the YS, again Just Engines and Probuild as mentioned do alternatives.
I have seen an older YS 120 (SC at a guess) go fine on 10% formula irvine, it just takes more tuning as Archie says.
Oh decisions decisions.
Of course if you are really stuck, I'll sell you my 120fz (including in cowl muffler) and buy a brand new 140

The WestonUK ProFlex system will be perfect for this set up. Rubber seals remove the problem of manifolds cracking, and the whole lot will fit in the cowl with just 2 smart polished outlet pipes poking out the bottom.
why ruin the lines of the bottom of the model with a long pipe? You don't get any power benefits (or need any!).
