Well??? Are you going to tell the rest of the guys how to get $20.00 off a UCD??
I personally don't need one. I have a Twist stashed behind the furnace.
All airplanes have expiration dates...Sorry to hear your UCD had one in March.
Regards, FRED

Thanks again guys. John, I think you're right. It must have an insecurity in the UCD. I'll except full responsibility.
Fred, The code to use on the Tower site is 011T4. It will take 20.00 off at the end total.
Thanks again guys. I got quite a bit done on the Twist. It seems to build fast but I want to make sure to make changes as I go also. Can't wait to get it in the air.

Sure, buy the UCD .46 and you'll have a lot of happy flights. It won't be the best engine to pull out of a hover, but that is not the only manuever in the world. You would enjoy the UCD .46, The Twist or the Magic Extra with a .50SX. I would go for the UCD .46 as I have all three. If you like to fly precision type manuevers the .50 SX would do well in a .46 Kaos.

I put the finishing touches on my new UCD.46 over the weekend, so next weekend will probably be the big day, weather permitting. I do have a question about programming the radio, however. I installed a new Airtronics RD8000 and while I have all of the control surfaces moving properly, I'm not totally happy with the setup. Here's the problem:
With the dual aileron servos plugged into channels 2 and 6 and the transmitter FLAPE feature activated, I get proper aileron movement. As per the Airtronics manual, I have the servo control horns pointing towards the wing tips. The problem is that when I hit the flap switch, the ailerons go up, not down. Now, the Airtronics manual says this problem can be corrected by simply changing the polarity of the EPA settings. Maybe so, but not on my particular RD8000. The EPA will not go negative. So, I just them to 0 for now so the flaps won't move when the flap switch is moved.
The second problem is with the dual elevator servos. I have them connected to the receiver with a Y adapter. The servo on the left works as shown in the plans, but the right servo moves the elevator backwards if I install the pushrod and control horn as shown in the plans. For now, I moved the control horn to the opposite side of the servo. This works, but the pushrod now has an odd angle to it and just barely clears the horizontal stab.
Any thoughts?

hey Dave, i know nothing about airtronics, but i do know you need a servo reverser for the elevator servo, it is just a "Y" harness that reverses one servo and that will straighten that out.

gjeffers..... I have a video of a guy flying at some local feild and it has a OSFX91 on the nose of it. Boy, I tell ya what, from the way it takes off from the ground is unreal! It looks like a bottle rocket laying on the ground. It sounds like less than 1/2 throttle when he is hovering it. As far as doing some reinforcing, It's prolly not necisary <~~~(spelled ryte?) [sm=spinnyeyes.gif] to modify the firewall but hey, if they say not to put anything bigger than a 70 in it, they prolly know what they are talking about. Since CA glue or epoxy dosent weigh very much, there prolly isin't any harm in putting some on there.

you know what Kokomo, i just compared the firewall on the 60 and the 46 and they are both .25in thick so i think ill just knock out the blind nuts and plug w/dowels and 30 min, then redrill for the larger blindnuts that are in the 60, add a little thick ca in the joints and fly that bad boy[sm=pirate.gif]

KAOS - Like someone else said, "Welcome to the UCD Thread"
I have my Elevators on a "Y" Harness too, and I did the same as you to solve the same problem. I have seen about 4 or 5 other UCD 46's and they were set up the same way. The rod just barely clears the stab on the one side on mine too, even on High Rates.
I'm not sure what to tell you on the aileron problem, so maybe someone else can help out there..............

perkinsm.....Looks good bud, But I think that thing needs to see a heat gun!!! HA HA HA! I see that you used your "wooden squares" that came with the kit to install the cowl. What I did was not use them,(I started to tho) Instead, I drilled holes for the screws in the side of the firewall. Look at my other pics and you might be able to see. (aww heck, I'll post one fer ya!) I know this is not neccisary but it does take off a couple of grams. Not much but every little bit helps right?!
BTW.....whats with that other UCD in the pic, right above your new UCD? I can see part of that landing gear brace you made.

Hey Kaos, How many channels do you have on you receiver ? On my UCD 46 I used ch1-ail L wing, ch2-ele L side, ch3-thr, ch4-rud, ch6-ail R wing, and ch7-ele R side. I'm not familiar with the r8000, but it should have enough mixes to do this. then you can have the links correct, and adjust the ele & ail independent of each other.

KOKAMO- Thanks, it dont look too bad, but I do have to get the iron after it a little. This one, actually had alot less wrinkles than my last one.
Good idea on not using the blocks, I'll remember that for next time.
BTW- I just got a Triton Charger. It will charge several types of batteries, including Li-Po's. It takes a little messing around with but after playing with it and re-reading the manual, it's pretty simple to use. I fly alot at a field where theres no power and usually stay most of the day. (Yes we do have electircity here in West Virginia, just not every where yet). I also bought a small graden type tractor battery. It seems like a pretty good set-up.

perkinsm........Nice to have a charger hu? I have a 12 volt battery in the bottom of my flight box for my electric engine starter. I use it when I need power for charging at the feild also. My charger runs off of 110 ac so I bought a cheap 5 amp A/C to D/C converter at wally world for that pupose. Seems to do well.
Kaos......Let me know what servos you have, I might be able to help you reverse one of them!

Hey SPUD37, what raido are you using? I have the futaba 7 cap. do you have the 8 or the 9? I ran into that problem with the ucando, but I had an older raido, upgraded to the 7 cap and now have another airplane that I am going to try using a different channel with.

Hey Goldenclan, I have an old FP-T7UAP 7channel futaba, FP-R127D rec., and use a 1200mah-6V NiMH bat. I'm selling of some of my planes to try and pick up a 9chan. soon. But for now my old 7 just keeps on ticking.
