Wow... Last time i checked this thread it was running on 24 pages...
I was gonna buy this plane, but it has been sold out for so long and new delivery wasn't expected to reach Norway until late January, so i went and got my self a Aviation Design F-117 Nighthawk instead....
I hate waiting...

Hey patty owners, This thread has been nothing but help for me from the time I thought about buying one till no! tHANKS TO ALL! I have a question? Is any one beefing up the landing gear in anyway. I thought of drilling 2 extra hole for strenght. I already added epoxy on the inside and I corrected 2 mis-aligned holes. what do you all think! Heres a photo of her with hinges and servos. waiting on the da50, rockcity hardware, and duralites.

I also added smaller tri stock to the front of the firewall on the left and right sides to help provide extra strength.

Thanks rcguy1 and aerobob for the heads up!
Good thing I didn't fly her yet, I somehow overlooked page 34(3d). I think for now I will move the ball link up until I get the proper control horns.
Can anyone recommend a good 3d control horn for this plane?
If so,what brand and size?

Lunatic,
Are you sure you are ready for 3D? The pics seem to tell you may be in over your head. There must be a hundred references about control horns in the last 5 or six pages. The stock ones work fine. But that would be to easy. Good luck. (:

I have slammed my extra down pretty hard twice on the gear with all stock setup and have no problems at all except a little bending back to do on the alum gear. I have found if you let it get too slow on landing with a cross wind it likes to stall to one side, kind of like a tip stall but less violent

Lunatic, don't worry about 3D now. Set the plane up as per instruction manual on page 28. Fly the Patty on low rates and after you are familar with the plane try flying on hight rates . Only after you are completely familar with the plane, go out and purchase longer control arms for your brand of servo (not control horns) and set up 3D throws as per instruction manual (page 34). Creek Hobbies (www.creekhobbies.com) has some nice servo control arms. Good luck!!!

Call me "chicken"....but...having been down that road of an overly-sensitive setup (a H9 Cap), I have *FINALLY* learned what works for me. And did this on the GP PW Extra
Two sets of servo arms for the elevator servos. The currently installed set allows me to set maximum ATV on the Tx (good thing for resolution and linearity of response) and have a VERY agile precision setup, capable of EVERYTHING *but* "3D".
Then the "other arms" which have the ball part of the ball links, and they are LONG arms, and THEY get crazy 3 D rates. Since I use DuBro High Strength arms, both lengths were in the same package.
Many would say this is a waste, but it allows me two separate setups, and I have two airplanes in memory on the JR 10X. One is the "mild mannered", the other is the crazy deal, and I cannot accidentally flip a switch and end up with disaster. BTDT, and it was VERY ugly.
Just some more ideas and ways to skin the cat from somebody who is REAL conservative/careful/chicken. (and old)

Wanting everyones opinion on this setup. First time Ive used this linkage system. Not permanetaly installed so i can use the stock. like it was said before just trying something different. I havent measured throw yet, but it seems solid.

The ZDZ50 would be sweet, but I think the all anticipated wait for the DA50 will be worth it......I am going to stick it out. I have a couple other planes I need to fly before I get hooked on the patty!!

Here's an inexpensive, light weight pushrod for the elevators on Patty. It is an aluminum "stand off" that is tapped for 4-40 threads, you can use 1" studs on each with a jamb nut, then ball links.
I used the 2-1/2" length of all-thread, that I already had cut to size, to set up the elevators, then screwed the "stand off" over it with a jamb nut on each end.
I purchased them from www.mcmaster.com. they come in sizes from 3/4" through 2" with 4-40 threads. The 1-1/4" sizes cost $1.12 each, and are just the right size.
Someone here on RCUniverse recommended them to me for finding the bolts I needed to mount my engine. They seem to have just about every fastener and size I could ever want.
This thread has been an enormous help, and a large pool of information for me and this plane. Thanks everyone!!!
