Maiden went reasonably well... it looks AWSOME in the air and tracks quite well
Observations:
1. This flight was nose heavy... Ihad to input a LOTof uptrim to fly level, then inverted, had to hold a lot of down elevator
I believe Iwill end up around 8"from the front of the wing at the fuse joint for proper CG!
2. The flaps did not come all the way down.. this was found to be caused by the supplied 3mm pushrods flexing a lot
I will replace these with very stiff carbon fiber ones
3 The climb with a 32 lb turbine is unlimited!

Avideo will be posted soon

Good job.
There seems to be a wide varied "like" on C of G, 7 3/4" was the figure talked about by the guys in Germany. Better safe than sorry though!
Surprised your flap linkage is flexing, how free is the flap without the linkage attached?

C-ARF have no plans to do a cockpit at this time, some people will buy the Skymaster unit and fit that, I'm making a simple one from two of Graupner's Ejector seats and a pilot.

Lucky chap flying on a monday!

The flap is very free,I'm surprised as well that it flexes but it does... Iwill make up some carbon fiber tube ones
the plane landed quite fast, and Ihad in almost full up!! Iwill be checking my turbine idle setting as well...
As for flying on monday, I'm retired and can fly and day!!!

I think Isee why the flap pushrods flex... when Ilook at the horn that is installed on the flap(s) and sight into the interior of the plane with the flaps down, there is a misalignment with the servo output arrm. In other words, there is NOT90 degree relationship to the flap servo. In order for this to be 90 degrees, the flap servo would have to be moved towards the direction of the wing tips about an inch!

I'm going to install these pack out blocks originally for the TF Giant Scale P-51 flap and aileron servo mounts.

These will restore the desired 90 degree angle to the flap horns. This is easier than messing with the horns!

and yes they will just fit...

ooppss can't do this due to the location of the servo wires on one side of the case,
these only work when mounting on one side, not the bottom!!!
Iwill just stiffen the pushrod and try that!

OK hereis my flex proof pushrod mod, now the flaps WILL work...
it is a carbon fiber tube hysol'd over the 3mm pushrod...

Have you tried the CF pushrod ends from www.connectorsRC.com?

They're cheap,light, and work great.

Yes but Ihas some CFtubing that was a perfect fit over the 3mm pushrods so Ijust used that. The ones Imade are extremely stiff and should provide the flap action that Iwant... THANKS

Ihad two very nice flights today.. [email protected]" from the front of the wing and my flaps worked better with the stiffer pushrods. Ibelieve the CG is correct on my plane as when Igo inverted there is 0 down elevator needed and knife edge is very easy with just a small amount of rudder input! The plane now flaresbetter for a landing as well

Ihave no videos from today but will post some more soon...

Iplan to try "CROW"programming for my next flight... after 50%flap deployment, the ailerons will go "up"approx 25 degrees
Idid this on a Boomerang and it allowed ridiculous slow landings...

I also have detected some leaks within the LG cylinders..(blow-through) Iwill take these apart and re-lubricate.. Are replacement o-rings available???

Here is what the CROW ( Butterfly) set up loooks like... very easy to do with Futaba...

Pic 1 = flaps down 60%, 0 aileron deflection
Pic 2 = flaps down 100% 20-25 degree "up"ailerons
This adds drag, provides additional "washout" (prevents tip stalls) and allows for slower landings... video soon...

Part of the deal of me giving that Hawk so cheap is that it is in one piece for me to fly at Pampa.. Ok? Be nice to it!

See attached Pics..
pic 1 = down elevator throw
pic2 = up elevator throw
pic3 = neutral set for first flight.. will probably change based on your CG
pic4 = CG,mine is at 7.9" from the front flat part of the wing
Ihave 60% Expo in my elevator
flys great...I'm not sure you can throw this plane around likeyou can with the FLASHbut I only have 3 flights on it so far. The first flight was VERYnose heavy and it landed like a rocket. The second flight was much better with CG@ 7.5". The third flight was at 7.9" but Ihad to land early due to a thunderstorm very near. Good luck with your new one, they do look very nice in the air...

thanks for the data given

this once proofs again that the trows i had was far to big...
my info was 30mm ABOVE that elevator cover , no wonder it was touchy...
what didyou do on ailerons?

Iused these little tough rp offset hinges from RC JETmodels, they are the same ones Ibelieve that Fie Bao uses.. easy to install and add somewhat of a scale look as they are attached with little SS flat head machine screws (2-56). They have built in locations for your air cylinders...

Your doors look nice a better solution for scale, Ihave 1 wider door and just 1 cylinder to make things easier. Mine open with the LG down air signal but close using a clippard valve
air signal when the front LG is all the way up... works great...Now to keep the nose gear doors open, you install a clippard valve in the system. This will keep the doors open until the nose gear contacts the valve letting air pass through to the nose gear cylinders to close the doors.
