Will there be a kero start conversion for the current propane start engine?

Hello guys,

I believe Barry from www.Kingtechusa.com said the Kero version of the K-80 would be released this spring. I also think he said that there would not be a conversion as the internals of the propane start do not accommodate the kero start.

Barry will chime in on this I am sure.

They are waiting for the new compressors to be able to release it out.

If I am not wrong they rose about US$ 90.00 for the Kerosart.

Joe is right. The existing K-80E propane start could not be converted. We are still tweaking on the K-80F before it will be released and the price will be $1,850.

Thanks,
Barry

I was wondering if anybody made any changes to decrease the time of the spool up. does this affect any other parameters of the engine?

Spool up as in acceleration delay or spool up during the start sequence?

hi Todd ,is spool up as in acceleration delay....its my first jet and after flying most of the timefrom a dry salt lake i begun to fly from a local club and the runway is kinda short and i do ''go arounds'' to find my throttle settings and i sometimes feel that i needher to speed up more earlier.she isperforming excellent as of now and i dont want to change any settings if it will disturbher behaviour. thanks

You can bring the Accel Delay down to around 8, decel down to 3 without affecting anything but throttle response. You might want to play with the curves in the ECU as well; you have Full-Expo, Half-Expo and linear settings to try.

Hey guys I tried starting my engine today but had some issues, it isn't getting fuel for some reason even though when I do a pump test with the fuel line disconnected it pours out in a steady stream with no air bubbles. I'm using a regulated valve on the coleman green propane bottles and it definitely has ignition just when it goes to fuel ramp nothing happens, it will reach 9800 rpm but it's only running on propane and when it times out it reads "Weak Gas" on the GSU? it doesn't say anything about that in the manual so can you guys give some advise to a turbine rookie please it would be much appreciated. Regards Justin.

Hi Justin, i am Justin also so lets not get confused.
Have you checked the pwm rate for the fuel pump? if the start rate is low enough it wouldnt have time to ramp up in time, but it would be very low to cause that. sounds like the pump is good but how much flow you have is the question. If the fuel is flowing into the line at startup then it may be a different problem alltogether.
You dont by any chance have the lines reveresed in the quick commects, i.e. kero line in the propane and propane in the kero by any chance?

Regardless, you best option is to give Barry or Todd a ring, very knowledgeable and quick to help.
Thanks , Justin Malone<br type="_moz" />

Yeah lets not get confused, I'm Justin Link. Fuel and gas lines are correct, it will run on the propane but when it goes to fuel ramp I noticed that no fuel is flowing into the engine, I do have a ball valve on it but I made sure to open it prior to starting. What rate should it be at? I'm running a box stock setup so it's set at whatever the factory put it at, the pump seems weak to me though, when I initially tested the pump to fill the line it took quite a while to suck up anything then when it finally did it moved pretty slow to the cup I was draining into.

this unit, where did it come from?
Also what fuel pump is on it? If it has a black fuel pump, its a stock kingtech unit, while if its a flightworks unit it will say so on the unit.
the settings look like it should run so im not sure. i have seen a few fadecs go bad from extended pump testing. If the pump was slow to start and pumped poorly you may try breaking it in but i just dont trust a questionable pump.
time and time again i trace problems back to the pump.
