Hey guys, im not of big fan of greasing the differencial ring and pinion b/c i just flings off and accumulates around the diff case so i wanted to know if it would be ok if i just fill half the diff with 10000wt or some other diff fluid so it will always be lube.
thanks.
thanks.

I'm trying to get a whole new set, manifold and tuned pipe. Also i like the spring connection as opposed to silicon tube. Im deciding between the
THS pipe http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCPX4&P=7 and the
TSAIS silver bullet http://www.tsais.com/products/exhaust/E1018HR.html
Anyone know anything about these pipes in terms of performance?

Grease stays on just fine as long as you use a good silicone grease of anything really good I guess. All they say to do is put a thin layer on the ring gear and away you go.

From what he is saying is the ring and pinion and if I understand what he is saying there is no way to fill with oil as it will leak out fast. I do not think hes is talking about the spider gears in the diff cup.

I just use grease and to adjust the limited slip I use the spring kit. I do not know about the MT2 Tsais rear exhaust but did see some dyno results on the Savage Tsais rear exhaust and all I can say is there are a lot of better pipes. Look how the pipe is made and does not seem it is a real free flowing pipe.

What do you guys think is the best gearing?
15/49
15/52
14/49
14/52?
Which will left the front wheels off the ground with the .18TZ? Also, what grease do you guys use in your diffs?
Mambas suck! So much weight in one wheel, Im going back to the Dirt hawgs. Waiting on some parts for mine, 18tz really puts some strain on the drive train, also picked up a Savage X on the weekend so I have been running it in while the MT2 is out of service.

Hey guys heres my mt2 that I picked up last week on the bay.I was looking for a motor for my 1/8th scale buggy and ran across this add got it for 100 bucks shipped
.It's all stock and runs like a champ and is practically new. It's cold here so I have time to get it ready for next spring.I ordered some gpm turn buckles for it to get rid of the stock crappy ones.I would like to get this on par with the g3 version since this is the 15 version.I'm asuming the drive train gears have been up dated to handle the g3 correct?I don't have the manuall so don't have any part #I have a rs4 3 evo and was wondering if this two speed is what everyone is using in the mt2?Anything that needs atention let me know since I'm new to this truck.I'm gonna get a os motor for it and want the drivetrain to be able to handle the power. Thanks for any links or info.

I run a 15/47 and have no problems picking my front wheels off the ground with my TZ so any of the above will do so. Yep heavy tires and or wheels will slow you down as rotating weight is a BIG HP eater. I have a Savage that I use to race and I am doing a lot of race up grades getting ready to put it back on the track. I just ordered a Picco 28 P3 for it.

spoonrc there is a pretty good thread in the HPI Monster Truck forums about the Picco 28. One thing they say is you need a good pipe and the HPI pipe is not it. My Picco is to be delivered today or should I say tonight. Here is my Savage set up and I mostly race it.
Started out as a 4.6SS kit
STS 3 port D28M (Picco 28 P3 on order)
HPI LCG chassis
6volt 1400 mAh RX hump pack (need to get a 1600)
React radio with Nomadio RX with temperature sensor.
HPI Savage Suspension Conversion Set #87245
X A arms (lighter then the 4.6SS ones)
X differential and bulkheads (will make changing diff oil easier for different tracks)-
modified to run the stock 4.6SS bumpers which are better at keeping in the hinge pins.
HPI alloy differential cups
208oz Tower Pro steering servo (will be changing this}
HPI Nubz Conversion Set w/17mm adaptors White wheels
Nova clutch shoes
Steering bearing mod
49 spur 16 CB (plastic spur)
AE 1313 throttle servo torque 173 oz, speed .13
HPI Big Bore Shocks 25-weight oil, 10mm limiters
2 degree negative camber all four wheels
3 degree toe in rear
2 degree toe out front
7k front diff oil (subject to change depending on the track)
5k rear duff oil (subject to change depending on the track)
X engine guard with roll bar
HPI engine stop
THS header
On order
Picco .28 P3
Roto starter backing plate for P3
Things I will be getting.
Diff bulkhead one stripped screw hole with longer screw in it right now
Personal Transponder.
086 Polished Tuned Pipe
HPI white springs 12.5 coil HPI#86553
Dynamite Big Daddy Fuel Filter
AE 1015 servo for steering.
1600 mAh RX pack.
HPI Shock Spring 12.5 Coils White
Things I am considering.
HPI light transmission gear
Rear wing
Titanium transmission shafts

most people use this mount for .18 engines http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCLR3&P=7
this is a cheaper one that will work as well http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXN373&P=7, but i would use the above one instead

What .18? I would be definitely looking at the O.S .18TZ, I can give a jato 3.3 a run for its money. I haven't clocked it yet but I would easily say 50mph+. The wheels just lift up at the front and I cannot keep the traction down. Just had to repair the diff and changed my gearing. Went back to the Dirt Bonez.

spoon what gearing are you running? You have the .18TZ in your truck now?
I like the yokohama tires. The traction is good and they are pretty durable.

I put dirt hawgs on mine and I really really liked them. I like the badlands but there just to tall for them things and makes it really hard on the diffs. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXDU11&P=ML
