good luck sbrackets .
Well I took out the reversing y-harness and plugged only one flap into the rx and it still goes back up when I give it full throttle. I checked all my mixes on my JR 7202 radio and they looked good. I am happy it rained now so that I can figure this out.

Thanks rowdog_14
Here are some photos of the HITEC servo programmer if any one is interested in one. Notice in photo #4. This is the screen where you reverse the direction of the servo, and the speed.
Also the Hitec program unit lights up blue when connected to the computer via the USB cable, letting you know that you have a good connection.

RE: New 81
Here is mine.....It flies good as long as you have throttle...If the engine quits then the pilot is having a tough time to control the little beast!!

RE: New 81
Test flew my Hangar 9 p-47 today. It flew great. I would go no more than a 1.80 2 stroke on this plane and no less than a 1.60. I did have a 1.40 super tigre that I was going to put in it, but I think I would have been disappointed. The plane was tail heavy when I took it off for the first flight so I did not get to trim it out, I was just worried about landing it. So when I landed it; one gentleman said, "if you have a master air screw prop put that on there, it will add some weight to it." He said that because I had a Zinger prop and they are real light. I put master air screw prop on there and adjusted the mechanical links on the elevator and took back off. Oh and I had 30% expo on the rudder and elevator. It still was a little tail heavy but no where near as bad as the first flight. I also have a 1 oz spinner hub on it, and I might change it to a 2 oz and that should take care of the balance issue. So, on the second flight I trimmed it out. After trimming it out I must say it flies like a dream at about 3/4 throttle and a full it is great. The OS 160 fx with a 18x10 prop pulls it great, and it is great on fuel. After a good flight I still had 1/2 tank of nitro. I am going to fly it again tomorrow with a new 2oz hub on the front and probably with a 18x8 prop. I will put pictures and a video on here tomorrow.

Here are a few pictures. They may be big because I was not able to edit them. I am at work . The third picture is the gas tank, I wanted to show after about a 7 min flight I still had 1/2 tank left. The great planes revolver in the background is my everyday weekend flier.

I have liked this plane since it's inception.....for obvious reasons I haven't purchased it....
I have WAY TOO MANY DISCT. PLANES....Even though they made a run of like 30-or so...
I have found a suitable substitution at that.....
TOp Flite Giant p-47 ha gone ARF!......
You choose your own gear, FIxed or retractable...

Has anyone had problems with the retracts working great on the ground but in the air the do not work the same. My right retract goes almost all the way up but stops at about 1/4 the way up. Like I said it works fine on the ground but only does it when I am flying. This is crazy.

Hello Rowdog
What servos are you using? And are you using a reversing "Y", or mixing the gear retracts in the radio? Is one retract going to the gear channel on the receiver, and the other retract going to the AUX channel on the receiver to perform a MIX?
Please respond so that i may try to help you.

OK! With the plane right side up with the wheels off the ground, engine off, do the retracts work correctly? If so, then what about lifting the aiplane up off the wheels with the engine runing, but not flying and see what happens. I'm just wondering if some vibration from the engine may be causing problems in either the retract servo, or Y harness, or receiver. You might want to try to mix the two servos in the radio. That's what i have done but i haven't run my engine yet so I'm not even sure if I'm going to have the same problem as you. I might
You Just need to see if you can duplicate the problem on the bench before flying again.

I am using a y- harnesss not a reversing one. I am using the suggested jr 791 retract servos with a 4.8 battery. I am really amazed because they work great on the ground.

it is a 3500 mah 4.8 volt battery. I really do not think it is a battery issue. I think I just might have a bad servo because it does sound like it struggles to pull up the gear compared to my other 791 servo.

I had a futaba servo on a rudder that looked like it worked just great. It was rated at over 130oz, but had less strength than a 8$ dollar 45oz.....servo...
Replaced the servo, no more issues.....

Rowdog.
Congrat. with the testflying.Did it fly, the way you liked? It seems that you have been flying that type of warbirds before. I looked at the video, and I can tell by the looks of it,that it is not the first low wing job[8D]
I allso get my wife to film my testfligths, they are allways good to have around, dont you think?

Good deal!
Mine was working great on the bench like yours untill I placed the wings into the fuselage. With the plane lifted off the ground in the cradle I tried out the retracts. My left retract is fine but the right one doesn't close all the way maybe 3/4 to 1" from closing back to the drawing board.

These are the ones I purchased at my LHS today. I did not use the two little gold adapters beside the nuts in the picture because it made my screw sit to high and it hit the retract frame. I use a small washer instead. I also had to grind the threaded part of the screw down because it too hit was hitting the frame. Good luck
