Sal 98 glad you enjoyed the video.
I found that I had to lean the high end on the BME 50 after about 3 gallons of fuel. Maybe 1/16th turn and remember to go to high idle when taking off. No more dead-sticks.
Engine broken-in "flying" from the start as per BME manual. There may be a better way but decided to follow Keith's instructions.

ive got over 40 flights on my BME...and so far - all ive done is lean out the low end about 1/8 of a turn...although - i think its about time to adjust the high end too - she maxes out on rpms somewhere about 2/3 full throttle...and the last 1/3 there is no change...
BUT - ive only had ONE deadstick - and that was because my cowl severed the ground lead to the ignition...
next time out - ill tach it and report back...

RCguy and Jan,
Try programing in Expo on the throttle to have more throw on the stick through the low end.
Did the maiden on on my Patty today! CG 6-3/8" at the root, don't know the weight yet. Jumped off the ground with the Brison 3.2 but needed some down trim.
Inverted I only needed to think about adding down eleveator to stay level, really I just touched the stick twice as lightly as I could for half a second to stay level during about a ten second inverted run. I think the CG is perfect for 3D at that point.
Low rates (9/16") elevator looped fairly tight at 1/4 of the stick and ailerons were very responsive. I'll program in expo on everything for next time.
She slowed to a crawl with no hint of tipping.
After only one flight I was very happy I got rid of the Lanier Cap to get Patty. Had engine trouble that turned out to be a clogged carburator filter so didn't get anymore flights in today.
I havn't even sealed the control surfaces yet so it should only get better.

Try hitting my www tab Big Bird Flyer
Your right on the money BasinBum, You have to add expo on the throttle of these pumped carbs to get a linear throttle response. the walbro carbs are generic and really not made for our planes. With weedwackers, trimmers and chainsaw your not really concerned with a linear throttle response.

Hey Guys,
What radio are you guys using? I know on the JR 8103, there's a way to program a mixer that gives you a 5 point curve. So you want to start with idle rpm, and that's your low point on the curve. Then get the highest rpm and that will be your 5 point. Divide the difference of rpm by 2 then add your idle rpm and that will be the center or mid throttle point 3. Now program points 2 and 4 for the feel you like and you have got a full, even throttle curve throughout the range of the stick. Does anyone have an easier way for the JR radio?

That's the right way to do it.
My radio only has 2 five point mixes which I use for rudder coupling on elev and ailerons.
I have a 9C, and I have found that some guys know how to do it with a single point mix, but for me using expo works just as good and I don't use up any of my mixes.

Another excuse to buy something for your hobby.
The 9c was my 2nd radio from a 4 channel wich comes with an avistar.
I think this is the single most important investment in RC.

I've got a whole garage full of stuff that I tried to get by with for the least amount of money. Boy, if I had known then what I know now, I'd either have a lot more money in my bank account or all my planes would be gold plated -- well, maybe gold leafed.

When I don't check my email for a few days I usually have several notices waitng for me. To day I had 3 notices. Then there are other times I don't get anything until 5 or 6 posts latter. Go figure.........
